Have any of you gotten testing for food allergies? I went through blood testing through a chiropractor that was sent to a lab that identified a variety of food allergens. I have to eliminate these for three months and then gradually introduce them.
What is confusing is that some of the foods I'm NOT allergic to are contraindicated by my blood type. Before I got tested, I specifically reintroduced the foods so they would be in my system and the testing wouldn't miss them.
Anyway, have any of you been through this, and what do you think?
I did the blood type too. I was told to remember it was not 'food allergy' testing, but testing for currently reactive foods. I did this about 6,7 months ago. Quite a few items I showed up reactive for match up with my BTD avoids.
However, another naturopath told me the blood type allergy test isn't very effective because it often shows false positives depending on what you eat a lot of, the time of day, what you drank, etc.
I get allergy testing done every year now. My naturopath does the kind that is like the vega testing...I don't know what it is called. I find it very helpful, as it alerts me to foods I need to be careful with. The healthier I get, the less things show up and the severity ratings get lower and lower. Now many of the things that show up at low levels are avoids and things I never eat anyway. Which tells me I am on the right track!
Embracing my A-ness! (Ok, that is waaaay better in print than it is out loud! )
I've had allergy testing done both with a blood tst and an energy test. The energy test seemed to be much more accurate and the NAET elimination technique is very effective. I still find an allergy that needs to be eliminated to allow me to continue the full body detox. As the body gets less toxic, there will be less trauma and allergies should continue to lessen.
Thanks for your responses. I found that in trying to avoid the foods I am supposedly allergic to, and to rotate foods every few days, I had to reintroduce some foods that I was supposedly not allergic to, but are BTD avoids. I haven't eaten any of these avoids in several years, and am starting to generally feel unwell, which I think is a result of eating them.
I am thinking of going off of the allergy elimination diet, and resuming BTD completely.

I did the ALIZA blood allergy testing and it changed my life. It showed severe allergies to wheat**, pineapple**, eggs***,all dairy*** no exeptions, pinto beans and a few others. By eliminating them over 1 year I dropped 80 pounds with no effort.I have not had one migraine either for over a year and suffered with them for years.... who knows, we are all so individual. I eat as little sugar as possible because i am a non-secretor.

girly I'm so proud of your weightloss... I think I've to get tested as well .... hmmm Vega-testing...that sounds very good Gumby.... and I saw that we all do have merely food intolerances, if we'd have developed real allergies, an instant reaction, even very severely is the outcome; but it isn't in reality...so often we even don't know what are the real facts of those problems, and after the beep (test ) you can see that Peter is very often until 98% right in his recommendations of lr4yt !!! Sluggish metabolisme comes from food intolerances and lacks of vits, trace elements etc....and can of course also be caused by candida.....2/3 of my clients are attaint with candida and even doesn't know it!!! The approach of natural medicine to good health is so different that most people don't suspect that they are not that healthy as they do belief ......
Isa, I agree, I read many Doctors as William Crook, Orion Truss, Jeffrey Bland and Cala H. Cervera (Spain), who say that many health problems as allergies, intestinal, intolerance food , stress, magraine, muscular pains, have the really cause in a candida problem...
The reason I tried to allergy testing was because of migraines, so it's helpful to hear that it helped you. But since I've restricted so many foods, I've just felt really bad. I'm thinking of maybe continuing to avoid the severe allergens, but reintroducing the mild ones. Not sure, though.
I recently found that delayed food allergies were a major factor in my chronic pain, inflammation, fatigue, skin problems, and weight. I had been on the BTD with a bit of improvement, but I did not make leaps and bounds until getting IgG allergy tested. Wheat/gluten and dairy allergies were severe and correlate with the BTD cautions. But, my egg allergy was also severe and eggs are considered neutral in BTD. My symptoms showed the greatest improvement when eliminating eggs. I lost a total of 25 pounds with no effort and my pain and fatigue have disappeared.
Similarly, my husband was on the BTD as a B-type with little success with weight loss or energy. He discovered wheat, dairy, and egg allergies through blood testing. Now he is losing weight and gaining energy!
I think the BTD is a guide in the right direction, but food allergies seem to be an additional factor to consider in the formula for health. It is not clear how we develop these allergies or if the BTD would work more effectively if our allergies were out of the equation.
Girly, The reason I tried to allergy testing was because of migraines,
Moulds can trigger migraines, look out with nuts, dried fruits, cheeses.. Feverfew is a herb that can be taken to help with migraine - before or during development of migraine.

I believe this. And I believe that candida problems are mostly caused by poor food combinations.
I had allergy testing and treatments 3 different times in my adult life. I still felt allergic to foods and inhalants I was supposed to have been treated for.
Had I given up gluten sooner, I might have responded better...but a chronically inflamed leaky gut is no doubt what gave me the most problems...and kept me in a less than optimal state of health and reactive to many foods and molds.
So, now 2 years off gluten...and 10 months on the Warrior diet, I have almost no airborne allergies or food allergies at all...... It took me 9+months before I started to be able to eat eggs and dairy...(two of my most allergic foods in prior testing)...and I tolerate both now. Still, I have some aches and pains...Not sure if it has anything to do with what I'm eating.. but perhaps toxins I still need to eliminate or a gut that still needs more time to heal.

How do you know when to reintroduce the foods you've been allergic to? Thanks in advance.
In my case, I am very certain that I will never be able to eat those foods again..on a REGULAR basis. I have had eggs recently a suffered a 2 day migraine, no question eggs are a no-no...interestly enough when I had my first set of infant shots at 8 weeks, I had a very high fever with convulsions..my Mother never took me for any more shots. add those one at a time, whenever you feel you have advanced a step in your healing process. a food log helps....

Has anyone had Hemaview live blood analysis where you can see your blood live on screen and find out whats happening in there? my naturopath suggested it but I would like to wait for a while as It's only been a week seen I started eating as a Gatherer.

I had a Live Cell Analysis about 10 years ago, before BTD, etc. When I had it done, we only saw two white cells and they weren't healthy... At that time, I had so many problems, though, that it was impossible to address them all at once. The BTD has done me the most good of any modality I have ever attempted.

I had that done once, but like Joe it was 10 years ago. It was cool to look at but I learned very little that was useful and just ended up being sold some expensive vitamins. In fact, some of what I was told turned out to be false...by that I mean yes certain things were there and not there according to the pictures, but the reality in my body was not represented if you know what I mean.
Don't think it was something I would do again unless someone recommended a specific person to me who had some knowledge and skill, and I was looking for some specific information. Perhaps the process has improved in the last 10 years and it is more helpful now?

I had this done last October. I was out with my mom shopping that day. When we stopped in the HFS for a few things there was someone in there doing the tests, so we decided it might be interesting and fun to have ours done together. I didn't even know my blood type so he tested me for that first. For me, it proved to be very helpful, mostly because of the direction it sent me in. The person doing the analysis talked about eating for blood types, a concept which I was not familiar with at all. So I left there with the goal in mind of finding out more about it. Two weeks later, with the BT Encyclopedia on hand, I dove right in. The results of my analysis clearly showed heavy metal toxicity and possible gall bladder issues, though he wasn't quite sure about the latter. I did the recommended cleanses at the time, but had some doubts. Then the Explorer diet came along and whatever doubts I had about gall bladder and toxicity weaknesses in myself went away. This diet was a perfect fit. I will go for another test as soon as I feel I have benefited from a good year of Explorer ways (that would be "my way"), hoping that the analysis will show improvements in both areas, and then do some tweaking. My mom didn't believe much of what she was told in her analysis, most of which were stress issues, which I thought were accurate because she had a severe bout of shingles a couple of years ago. The tester didn't know that, so it seemed like a reasonable association. Anyway, I figure I lucked in finding this particular person to do my testing. Judging by what I read about the tests around the web, this person did know how to interpret the results fairly accurately.

I think we're all different....I've had no ability to tolerate eggs at all..for at least 20 years or more...and for the first 9 months on the Genotype diet, every time I tried them, I got violent headaches and felt totally sick...Then one day about 4 weeks ago I just decided to do an entire day of diamond foods...which included the egg whites (and the yolks are superfoods)...Using all organic foods and ingredients, I even drank coffee, something that used to totally make me shake all over....organic coffee...half regular, half decaf..My breakfast that morning was brown rice bread, toasted..I cooked the eggs in ghee mixed with olive oil...had 1/2 grapefruit and just sat down and told myself I would be fine....
Now this isn't a belief system I'm talking about. My body was just ready to tolerate eggs... And I guess depending on how compliant you are on either the BTD or the GTD, if your body is healing, this might be how you're informed. You sit down and try an allergenic food and see how you do...If you need more time, you wait another month. This is what I did...Over and over again, I kept trying my known allergens...until finally my body didn't see them as foreign invaders anymore.
Perhaps someone with more technical knowledge can explain why this happens to some people.

Good thing she had the sense not to take you back. The next shot could have killed your or given you autism. Have you read Jenny McCarthy's book Warrior Mothers?

No I have not read her book but have seen her on many talk shows and I have ABSOLUTELY no doubt in my mind that vaccinations are linked to many things. Why it affects some and not others is a mystery. I also did not vaccinate any of my 4 children ( I can feel some of you gasping !) and yes they are all still alive, have had absoultely none of the things that they would have been vaccinated for.....

Oh, no, Girly, you're among friends here. My children haven't been vaccinated either. I'm just so thankful I had the knowledge and experience I've had (having worked with children with autism) before having children myself. I think I've saved us from a lot of heartache, especially with two allergic to eggs.

Hi, Just wanted introduce myself: I'm a Tasmanian woman, but living in NZ these past 6 years. Am type 0 and RH- & also very low in iron with quite reactive skin. I'm pretty sure I am also a Non-Secretor as I can't eat a lot of the avoid foods. I bought ER4YT 6-8months ago and it helped me lose over 10lbs without much effort. Since then I have also tried other diets/detoxes. All up I've lost about 40lbs in the last 3yrs - still 20 to go though; sigh... I've been following these blogs with much interest (particularly appreciate Ribbit sharing re skin sensitivities. The pepper/nightshade thing was like a light bulb turning on for me as my face reacts to so many things but I don't always know what it was; though have identified & eliminated quite a lot) Can anyone tell me what makes sunflower seeds now an avoid on the BTD? What would happen if I kept eating them(I bought a 20lb sack) and why I can have almonds but not almond milk? I am "allergic" to soy so am now limited to only rice milk... I like the sound of the genotype diet. Will try my library for a copy first. Can relate to things in Gatherer profile but think I must be a Hunter as its the only one that correlates to my leg/torso length measurements?! I have the ring finger length thing as per Hunter but Gatherer also has that... Cheers, look 4wd to catching up, Possum

Welcome to the forums! Almond milk often has thickeners and other ingredients which are to be avoided. You can make your own almond milk and it will be okay.
I highly recommend the GenoType diet!

Thanks for both your welcomes and the info on almond milk - that's a relief as I always make my own... And Happy Birthday Ribbit. I second what everyone was saying earlier. I was drawn to your posts right from day 1 You contribute so much!! Lola I put in my aviator but not sure how to put in any other details...RH-; Signature etc Re sunflower seeds and type 0 ???? Does anyone have any thoughts? I wondered if maybe I could just use a few each day? Don't really wanna waste nearly $200. I used to make my own flour (sunflower) and out of convenience and laziness, practically lived on sunflowers and almonds all day (and eggs, until last few months)while on the road, until I recently gave up being a sales rep.

Gee....thanks.
About sunflower seeds....If you look at the top of the screen you'll see TYPEbase Food Values. Click on it and look up whatever food you're wondering about. Dr. D explains many of the reasons why the foods are rated beneficial, neutral or avoid. For Type O: Contains lectin or other agglutinin.
$200 is a lot to just give up. Do you know anybody who would buy them from you? An option is to go ahead and use them up. I do that every time I change my diet. I finish up what I've got of the old stuff and start on the new as I can, unless I can find somebody else to eat it.
