I would like to find more information about personality as it relates to blood type and if there is any research to support this. I recently became aware that Japan uses blood type as a sort of psychological marker for hiring employees. In a homogeneous society such as that there aren't too many other ways to discriminate or practice subtle forms of fascism - so it seems to be accepted. They use it also as an astrology or horoscope kind of thing and most consider it superstitious but appreciate the system's references when it indicates fortune in their favor.
While I have respect for Dr. D's work and research in genetics, physiology, and biology for the BTD, the medical community has little validation for it as a group. Regardless, I take life as an experiment and the BTD works for me and apparently for millions. Are we all just complacent under a superstition? My doctor acknowledges that the diet has to be beneficial to many just because we are eliminating so many common allergens even if there is no correlation to blood type. Good enough for me but I actually have respect for Dr. D's work and would love to see it get more recognition in his lifetime. However, I am quite hesitant to use the astrological default mentality to accepting good advice on matters of the mind and heart, using an "if the shoe fits" sort of mentality when it comes to blood type. Any info on valid psychological personality research or on any other bio-psychological studies that have been done would be well appreciated.

Angela, there s a test you might want to do, but this site concentrates on antigens and how certain food reacts according to those antigens lining your gut.

Personally, I agree with Dr. D that our physiology can predispose us toward certain personality traits, but I believe life experiences weigh much more heavily in determining how we interact with others and how we react/respond to stress. Also, our level of spiritual growth has quite an impact.
Being a B, I take exception to the Japanese custom of believing BT = personality (since they think Bs are "lazy", "unambitious").

I take exception to that too and I'm not even a B. DH isn't lazy--in fact, under great emotional stress I once called him a work-a-holic (which he didn't appreciate). He has lots of ambition. It would just be nice to see him follow through with one of them.

what was that in your given educations, Mayflower ....did you pampered em too much....
and about's B's lazyness...I observed something completely different...coz of their easy way of going mentality they just won't see the need to make further sacrifices for anything....and then... often given up too early.....I know that as well as being a half of theirs ....

Field marshall, eh Isa.
I know a lot of B's and none of them are lazy. But...like you said Ribbit...some of them (my dad was one of them) need to follow through with their ideas.

Well, Dr. Isa, you're right yet again.. my mom did everything for them while I was working..picked up after them...It's great having another doc on the board to vent to! But he never show's any guilt. Is that a male thing or what?

Dad is also a B+ like me, and was DEFINITELY a work-a-holic who got things done! Nearly worked himself to death until he was disabled by a back injury. (That sounds familiar...) I certainly drive myself harder than anyone else could drive me.

I can relate to being lazy at times, but never on the job, always had respect for my employers and what they needed from me, especially now, since I'm self-employed - a great motivator! I've also been a work-a-holic, but it never lasts, can find no sense to it. I also relate to being easy going (to a fault), not making unnecessary sacrifices and giving up too early sometimes. But, I have also fought too hard and held on too long when it was futile, so maybe that's how we find our balance, some sooner than others.

the Debra's-roostersis' trauma *fieldmarshal* sweetpie..only the half of it... normally those are the ENTJ's

Being a B, I take exception to the Japanese custom of believing BT = personality (since they think Bs are "lazy", "unambitious").
I agree with you, but obviously you look so calm, and almost all my friend Bs are like you, they usually dont lose self-control, dont like to fight and its a excellent quality!!! The world need that energy: balance....harmony...tolerance I like that calm from the Bs...
So I am an ENTJ and Hunter O nonnie, my husband is an ESTJ Teacher A sec oldest son is an ENTP Hunter O sec youngester son is an ESTx Hunter O nonnie.
I have a heck of a time trying to match the personality genotype thing to my family. My Teacher husband has much more of a Hunter personality than I do, I have an "explorer" personality which comes close to the ENTJ way of looking at things, I am called Attila the Honey are work.
My oldest kid is very funny and easy going but hugely competitive and recently found his work ethic and the little one is totally easy within his skin and stubborn and is very mouthy and plays before he works.
My husband and I are both workaholics and I would like to work until I cannot work anymore. There was an article in the National Post this weekend about people who are working well past 80 and close to 90. That is what I would like to do...

I suppose we would all get angry if we were categorised. Like the AB personality thread ....
I want to contribute my opinion about B's. I love them to bits and they bring balance to me.
Now....having said that and coming to what the Japanese say, here's my take. In my office there are 15 B's, 1 A and 1 O, that's me.
In my hubby's family (and we live the extended family concept) there are 20 Bs, 4 As, 4 ABs and 2 Os (MIL & myself).
In a Company where everyone is supposed to work and get results there is no place for complacency, or being a non starter despite fantabulous ideas. In the office all senior decision making posts are held by B's. And it's very, very frustrating to see ideas put forward with great enthusiam and 24hrs later it's forgotten. It's like the B's have the greatest fun thinking up ideas but when it comes to following it thro, no sir, nothing happens. The A & O get into a twist and usually the O ends up carrying through many of the plans. The A is in a perpetual state of getting ready and that means eventually missing the boat!
The 3 1/2 years on BTD & now GTD has made me aware that B's are unconventional and there are ways and means to sustain their interest to make all of their fab ideas work. And to get the max out of A's without them getting tired & stressed coz of their perpetually raised corisol levels, it's better to keep tasks small without any multi tasking involved. Since it is my own Company, I can afford to put into practise what I'm privy to: the idiosynchrasies of different blood types. But not all Companies can afford to show this level compassion & understanding. Therefore, after one or two tries, people generally conclude that B's are lazy.
On family outings (suggested by the B's)my MIL and I would be the first to get ready and have all the stuff nice & ready. The Bs just dont see why things have to be so organised . Yes, we said we'll leave at 4pm, it's only 3:59, what's the rush? Many a flight, many a train we have missed, oh my! The A's then suffer from intense pressure and stress following such a mishap and they talk about for days on end, analysing and counter analysing. The ABs initially would support the Bs idea and then when things begin to get difficult (the Os pushing the Bs to hurry up, raised voices etc)they would just abandon ship. And remain withdrawn. And have no qualms talking to all and sundry about what happened within the 4 walls. The Os would have blown their top but by the following day all's well. These examples cited are only my personal experiences and it is in no way a blanket statement about all blood types .
Do I think B's are lazy? No, not at all. We all just have different levels of motivation I guess.
Aw, she remembered! Maybe dad, Mr. Ribbit, and I are a few exceptions?
Yes, I did remember..Must be the GTD kicking in. lol.. (or the PS)..Dr. Croak sounds like an A..The way Ribbit describes him he just reminds me of Dr. D. (His thinking and logic) You and dad are exceptions.. I must say that my son LOVES school. He's had years of perfect attendance and gotten awards. His brother wants to smack him for that..lol.Ok, this is so weird..My B son started out being an affectionate baby and now he's kind of indifferent. My O son started out being unaffectionate and now he's hugging me and being considerate, like holding the door for me..

Hey, you're a Doc as far as I'm concerned..doc. Naturopath=Doc to me. In my state, ND's aren't recognized either. (stupid state)

AC, you made me laugh! You're so funny in the way you describe the different types. I'm going to copy that and e-mail it to DH. He'll get a kick out of it as well. Because we have three different bt's in just our small family, I see this on an every-day basis as well and what you said was our family very accurately.

Exactly what I was saying! Used to be that me and dad couldn't get anywhere on time. Now, I'm better at getting places on time, while dad is just less stressed out by NOT getting there on time. I don't understand why it's such a difficulty for us....
My mother and all her siblings are B's. Out of the 5 of them, there's only one brother who's lazy. All the rest are steady workers and consider a vacation working at adding another room on to their summer home or digging a well or chopping wood... anyhow, you get the picture. My best friend happens to be a B and I find them to be one of the easiest blood types to get along with. Just personal experience here people! Not trying to get the O's, A's or AB's mad at me!
