I am reading the info on lectins on the Individualist.."Protein molecules that interact with sugar"
Is it that lectins in plants are a plant defense mechanism?  But what about seafood?  Or do they just exist as part of the structure of the plant?  I looked "lectin" up in my medical dictionary and it says "Any of the several (several?) plant glyocproteins"

"Fascinating"...! Mr. Spock

I have Deflect. I can't take it every day though. I am experimenting with lowering the dosage. I'm thinking 6 months on the Warrior diet will help me with my sensitivities...

I would like to look at the science that Dr. D's father was working on to come to his conclusions...

Dr D's father did not look at any science...it was more from keen observation of his patients that not all of them did well on the low meat and granola diets and he decided blood type was an easy way to differentiate his patients...Dr D thought his father was a bit of a kook till he was in ND college and one of his profs had said to him there was a link between blood type (O) and H pylori and that opened up Pandora's box and here we are today.

Well, ya see, I had watched on the youtube, the video where he was on Regis and he mentioned that he was looking over his father's "literature" on blood types and saw that it was backed up by science, so that was where I got the idea that his father had some scientific findings of his own. That's what I meant.

I'm also trying to study the info on the Individualist but it's difficult..my medical terminology isn't in lab terms, and blood terms..So I have my trusty medical dictionary.

We have been studing Lectins in our LR4YT study group, Read in your Live Right Book all that it has, then read the Encyclopedia staring on page 343, and look at the refferences that are listed, and I don't know how to get it online but professor Gerhard Uhlenbruch MD. in Cologne Germany has done a lot of study on lectins.
Hope that can help you.

I know all about it...I can't leave my two sons alone.. two teenagers? (are you mad? ).  Both aren't very interested in the BTD to bring them. I really want to go I want to hear Dr. D. lecture...I'm upset enough. I even emailed the clinic to find out if he'd be lecturing in the tri state area, so that I can go. No response...(sigh)

James D'Adamo's book One man's food--is someone else's poison is still available.

It is around $11 new.

But you can usually find copies used for less than $5:

Mayflower isn't there someone the boys could stay with for 2 nights while you come to the conference? I do understand about teenagers, I have three sons myself. We never lived close to relitives for them to stay with the boys either so we didn't go away either. We left the sweet darling once and never again!!!   Wish there was a way for you to come. Work on it and see what you can come up with as we sure would like to see you here and I know it would be a very informative weekend for all that can make it. I know it seems early to be planning for something in Oct but I understand we are getting responses from Canada to Mexico of folks planning to come so the list is growing everyday of committed BTD/GTD folks that are planning to be here. We have been working on the meal planning and have some great chefs that are interested in the BTD program and are excited to be a part of the conference. Good thing as they are chefs at one of our Country Clubs and I hope they add some of the dishes to their menu.

Thanks C, I just ordered it from Amazon. Is James D'Adamo alive?
My 18 year old son's name is James after my father.

Thanks Lola, I think I've seen them all, but I like to go back and watch them.

Im just curious; I did not see that he promotes any of the Dr. Ds products which are an extension of his.  Does he run Swami for his patients?  Does he recommend the BTD books or web site to his patients?  Does he believe in the GTD?

Dr D s studies are way beyond his dad s initial observations and treating methods.

I take Deflect twice a day, every day, BUT, I wonder about its effectiveness for someone
who no longer follows the BTD where lectins were an issue. Lectins don't seem to be mentioned in the GTD book.  Are lectins even a relevant issue for this diet?

Lectins don't just go away just because you are following a different diet plan....

There are possible situations where a foods values sans the lectin issue overrides the lectin factors. This is true even within the BTD, as for example occasionally in the Health Series books.

I can't say I totally understand the concept of a situation where a food value without the
lectin issue could override the lectin factor, but I'll take your word that Deflect is still an
important supplement for all of us.

deflect works at a deep level, subtly binding lectins which cause damage, allowing your gut to heal......
the consequences are excellent!
you do need to do the work though, being as compliant as possible......it takes two to tango!
