I am currently taking birth control pills to help with my androgenic alopecia (hair loss due to too many male hormones). I am also using a shampoo for balding. I've gone down to a low hormone birth control pill (months ago) and it hasn't seemed to make any difference in regards to my hair (no more is falling out than normal). I know it says that for my blood type I should stay away from hormone replacement and stick with soy. I'm wondering though how much estrogenic effect soy has and if it will take the place of the pills. I can use any advice. I will in no way blame anyone if it doesn't work. I would also be interested in whether anyone knows of any herbs that help with hair loss.

Hey--it's worth a try!  Let us know how it works out.  I'd try anything natural before trying a drug.  If a whole lot of tofu solves the problem, who needs pills?  Soy straightened out my hormonal issues.  Mainly I was ovulating about two days before my period.  I started taking SoySentials, by Reliv, and my cycles straightened out to where they should be.  After about a year I quit taking Reliv products because I tested allergic to all of them, but my cycles continued to be exactly perfect.  I started eating tofu, miso and tamari sauce.  I don't have anything like what you have, but I do know that soy helped me hormonally.

I just read about this new product by L'Oreal and Nestle called Hair Mass.  It's an oral supplement with mostly the following ingredients: L-Taurine (150 mg), Green Tea Extract (145 mg), Zinc Gluconate (15 mg) and a bit of Grape Seed Extract.  

I'm not sure it's for sale in the U.S. yet, but you could easily make your own by purchasing the ingredients at your HFS.  I'm sure that would be much cheaper anyway because it sells for $45.00 (which I think is a one month supply).

The name of the company formed by L'Oreal and Nestle is Inneov.  When I go to their website it said the English site isn't available yet.

I don't know if this is true, but when I went for BHRT, I told the PA I had experienced some hair thinning as I was getting older and she said it was due to losing my testoerone. That is one of the hormone creams that they give you in BHRT. You get Bi-Est, Testosterone and Progesterone creams.   The Bi-Est kept me from losing weight and it actually was climbing.  I cut it way back and I dropped 5 pounds so far...however my symptoms are returning...I refuse to except aging! jls91978  I thought you might want to look at this list of foods and see if any of them
would work for you to naturally support your need for more estrogen.  

Mayflowers, I'm not sure she'd want to be taking BHRT with testosterone because she seems
to be having too many male hormones in her body now.  Androgen and testosterone are both
male hormones.

That's find Chloe, the BHRT is individualized. I needed testosterone so I take it. She may not need it so the doc would only prescribe estrogen and progesterone or just progesterone. It depends on the person.

I know ingesting too much soy was killing my libido and ability to "flirt with" women. Course, that could also been from problems with dating I'd had for the previous months.

Sky, I asked my boss who's a pediatrician if he thought soy would cause that affect on my O son because I had him on soy milk instead of cow's milk. He laughed and said it would takes tons and tons of soy and not to worry because it wouldn't effect him. I ended up taking him off of it anyway because he was 13 and his voice wasn't changing and I got worried.  I still don't know if it did effect him.
If you're that sensitve, I wouldn't take royal jelly either if I were you. It's a female thing..for the queen bees. lol.

Hmm. Wonder how Dr. D does on all the soy..?? (only because I was thinking of giving my son more soy to get him off of milk)

Yeah, if in a relationship, the extra soy would probably help in making the guy more mellow with his female partner.
