I've found that hot coffee with meals instead of anything cold (or any other liquid, for that matter) keeps my stomach acid level pretty consistent.  Where water with meals dilutes the acid, the coffee keeps things perking (so to speak).

I've also taken a Betaine (hydrochloric acid) supplement before which helps.

are you having acid reflux?

I d try getting my secretor tested first thing, to tweak your diet further, and then definitely look into the GTD......
things might turn out very favorable for you!

I already have the book and am already following The Nomad somewhat ... I think I will just have to get my secretor tested !!  ... I'm such a procrastinator

Yep, for the last two years I've been waking up with a pasty mouth hence I figured that I must be having reflux of some type and/or eating too much and NOT digesting properly

The problem is that I'm really NOT certain if I have high acids or low stomach acids ... the symptoms r usually the same for both
I've always thought that it was high, till I heard that most of the times it's low

How ur Gatherer new way of life coming along ?
Thanks Lola

Hi,
I am an A and a Warrior. I recently began having bloating and heartburn. Last night I got heartburn after eating chocolate. Should I be avoiding tomatoes? I love lemon and water. I guess thats ok.

A tomato isn't an unusual thing for As to have trouble with.  Lay off for a while and see if your heartburn goes away.
