Can someone please help me regarding conflicting test results?
My saliva test came back Non secretor but my Lewis results were a-b+ which indicate Secretor?

Where did you have the lewis test done?
Dr. D'Adamo had this to say about differences in secretor testing: "Having done 5000 Lewis typing tests in the clinic over the last 15 years, and about 400 salivary inhibition studies, I can safely say that saliva testing is more accurate than blood. The reason being that the agglutinations that are used to determine Lewis types are very delicate (weak antibody reaction) and can easily be misinterpreted, unlike ABO which makes a big glop that you cannot miss (strong antibody). I've even seen conflicting results from two different MedPath labs, especially if the staff is not trained well enough." The subject is discussed in more depth in one of the Science Knowledge Base Entries.

Hi RonF,
Welcome.
As Don's post indicates, the saliva test is more accurate.
Why not visit the member center and choose an appropriate blood type avatar (I'd go non-secretor) so that others can respond to you better? While there, you may also add other personal information if you choose.

Hey RonF...welcome to the forum. I would go with the secretor test...it is the most accurate. Come sit down in the clubhouse...we have a seat aaaalllll warmed up for ya. What blood type are you? Debra |

does anybody know how accurate percentage-wise the saliva test is? I tested for a secretor while my mother tested for non-secretor. |

what if my father tests for non-secretor like my mother, does that mean perhaps my test was wrong, or do my parents potentially don't matter? |

If your mother and father are both non-secretors, then you have to be a non-secretor. |

Assuming your mother is really a non-secretor and you are a secretor, then that means your father has to be a secretor in order to pass on a secretor gene to you. |

It also means that you have one secretor gene and one non-secretor gene, which is something to keep in mind if and when you have children. |

I haven't done my secretor test yet, but based on this I guess there really is no reason to do it. Both of my parents have done theirs and they are both non-secretors. Do any of the books say this or does this come from another source? Thanks! |

It's basic genetics. Any number of textbooks explain it, just not for that specific gene. Non-secretor is recessive, you can only get non-secretor genes. Of course, if you might have been adopted or switched in the hospital or something..... |

Very unlikely. I can certainly see both of them when I look in the mirror. Thanks!! |
