Topical personal hygiene items containing avoids are okay to use, such as toothpaste, shampoo, conditionr, body soap, makeup, et al.

The BTD food list applies to foods we comsume that enter our digestive tract.

However, seen coconut oil is in the Burts Bee lip product, miniscule amounts of it may come in contact with your food when you eat.  This miniscule amount may not affect everyone equally; the decision to use a lip product containing avoids is dependent on how sensitive you are to avoid food item(s) and also the level of the utmost compliancy you wish to folow.

It is an individual choice if you wish to continue to use the lip balm.

What Alia said.

What I would probably do, if I were accustomed to lipstick such that I wasn't always eating it (this is purely theoretical for me -   ) what I would do is use the one I bought and switch to something else after I finished it.

I know this has been 'debated' about the toothpaste and mouthwash......if lipstick/lipgloss/lipchap has avoids in it and may pass into our digestive tracts and maybe we should avoid them..............so IMHO would toothpaste and mouthwash. Residue with all of them..........

Everyone has differing levels of tolerance to substances that are put on the body. I don't worry too much about things like makeup (not that I wear it that often) or the like. For me, it's more important to avoid ingesting the avoids, than wearing them. But that's just me.

Let go of resistance; feel appreciation for what is, and eagerness for what is coming.

I agree with everyone's posts above, and would only add that if you are dealing with health problems, you might want to avoid even trace amounts of an avoid. If you're in general good health, you probably don't have to be quite as vigilant. From personal experience I can say Burt's Bees makes very high quality products that I've used for a while now, and to my knowledge they haven't caused me any harm. Just my two cents.

I would probably do what Lloyd said;  use it up and don't get it again.  My favorite lipbalm is plain Shea Butter.

I've read many times that a lot of the ingredients in shampoos and make-up are toxic in that they feed into us through the skin. For instance, lots of different medicines are fed into the body through the skin (such as birth control patches, and nicotine patches). Therefore, it is noted that anything can be fed into the body that is placed on the skin. I am NOT a doctor. I'm just stating what I've read.
