Would it be helpful to get haplotype testing done in regard to what we'll learn at the IfHI conference?

From Dr. D's blog, where he gave the link to the genographic project (https://www3.nationalgeographic.com/genographic/participate.html#top) it looks to cost $99 plus s+h.

Probably wouldn't get the results back in time for the conference, but it looks like fun.  Perhaps the MN & Lewis testing would be more informative though, if it's a choice between the two?

My mom's ancestry is pretty mixed, so it would be really interesting to see where the main maternal line came from.  

Great question. Interesting information, but alas, no matter how hard I tried I could not get the haplogroups to correlate with the Genotype groups. I suspect that it is because the haplogroups are relatively recent, and the fucntions that determine a 'genotype' in the GTD are much older.

So, to summarize, I'd do it for the information, but it is not crucial for any aspect of the GTD.

'Scuse me if somebody's already posted this elsewhere (I haven't been around much lately), but THE BOOK is listed on Amazon, available for pre-ordering.  I don't have time right now to refresh my memory of how to post a link, but it's easy -- just go to amazon.com, and in the search boxes at the top of the home page, select Books from the drop-down menu, type "Genotype Diet" (including the quote marks) into the other box, and hit Search.  Several books come up, but it's right at the top.

Eek!  Just noticed that they give the release date as December 26 -- so much for putting it on my Christmas wish list!

The cover they're showing looks more red & blue than orange & purple (as Dr D described it in a recent blog entry), but visually arresting.  No option to read the insides, though!

Along the same line, would SNP/gene testing be useful for the GTD or Swami?

If so, any recommendations on which company to use?

Actually the genotypes probably are better at telling you what SNPs to test for!
