How important is knowing my secretor status? Also what is the easiest way to find this out? Would it be the mail order test? It takes so long for the results.

Knowing your secretor status can make the difference of seeing a little improvement in your health or seeing a lot of improvement.
You can order from NAP. They do it by saliva. It takes about 2 wks for the results.

There are various nuances between secretor and non-secretor differences that need to paid attention to for the various blood types ranging from increasing meat frequencies weekly, decreasing grain portions weekly, reducing/eliminating dairy portions weekly, and various neutral foods changing to avoid status, et al.

I had my results 2 or 3 DAYS after I mailed it to the lab. You can request your results on line, and you'll have them much faster.
To me, waiting/not knowing is always the worst part. My health, which had made leaps & bounds from just starting the BTD, made more extremely life-altering changes after I found out I was a Nonnie. It's worth every penny. And you can't always guess your BT - I was stunned to find out I was a Nonnie. Not happy . ... but once I dropped & swapped avoids/compliants, things got even better. Never going back  

It's definitely worth it.  There are only a few differences but they are very important ones.

For example, upon knowing I was a nonnie, I knew I had to move on without coffee, sugar, soy and WHEAT!  These made a giant difference in my health.  But I get to eat more meat.

my story is very similar, swap oats for sugar - love being able to eat more meat & not feel guilty  

Knowing your secretor status is more important if you are a non-secretor, more avoids, more health issues to watch out for. Check it out though, it will be worth it.

mine were picked up today

oh i mean the delivery guys picked up my package to take to the lab. i have NO IDEA !! but soon..soon.

I have to vent here....  After 3 1/2 years of approximate BTD, I finally got the money together to order secretor test kits for me and my kids.  They got here yesterday, so today we sat around the table and spit into the tubes together.  (Then I chased my almost 4yo daughter around the house trying to get a full specimen because she got bored of spitting after a few minutes.)  So then I pull out my mailing envelopes, call the 800 number and guess what?  No pick up service.  I can drive 1.25 hours to the nearest drop station, but I've already missed today's pick up and they won't be back again until Monday. (Today is Friday.)  Arggggggggghhhhhh!!!!   I'm going to have to take them to the post office and pay extra to have them shipped express tomorrow.

I sent mine on Jan 2nd and I called yesterday and they said they wait until there are 10 specimens to do the testing, so hopefully soon.  
Mind you that is in Canada!

It takes 3 to 6 weeks for lab results up here in Canada so be patient.... reason being the lab does 20 at a time and they wait till they have sufficient numbers and unfortunately people up here in Canada aren't rushing to get it done but that will change one day

Oonu or Mike or anyone else who knows, I would love the details on secretor status testing in Canada.  I found a like that Debra posted some time ago where you can order the kit, but I believe that one is sent to the US?  Did not know it could be done here.  I know my ND has details, but won't see him for more than a week and I am getting very curious!

Thank you Lola!  I had the abolife one, I think they send down to the US for testing...but the aboessentials is a new one for me and looks like the place that Oonu and Mike were referring to...with the 4-6 week results!  Perfect!  

I wonder if my ND will be put off if I order it now and get a jump on things...hmmmmm....

I'm really frustrated now.  I'm dumping the specimens, sterilizing the tubes and starting over.  I completely forgot about the MLK Holiday on Monday here in the US.  There's no way I could get them out and to the other side of the country in a reasonable amount of time using USPS.  I'll do them again on Tuesday, and drive the 1.25 hours to the DHL Express drop off place first thing Wednesday morning.  

Waaaaaah!  But I want to know NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just ordered a test kit!  YAY!  I hope it gets here fast, then maybe it will help get the Canadian numbers up so they can run the tests already!!!
