I ordered mine Thursday of last week. There was an e-mail confirmation saying "we have rec'd your order', but no timeframe given for shipment.
How long should delivery take? How long did yours take if you ordered it on the internet? |

I got mine within 3 days; I had ordered Phytocal at the same time.
The website does say that you will be notified when it ships but I never got it. You can also email customer service but by the time they got back to me I had my order.

It came today. Yay! I took the test and sent it back already. Now I guess I'll have to wait for the results.

The best list for your Type is in Live Right, or the BTD Encyclopedia. Typebase4 has secretor status included for all foods. |

I ordered mine today (FINALLY!!!!) . I'm anxious to see what I am. I think I'm a secretor, but it will be nice to "officially" know. |

I felt the same way...I was 99% sure I was a secretor as I never had any of the health issues associated with nonnies, plus some grains (rice, oats) seem definitely neutral for me. So I *almost* regret the $50 I spent.....it's nice to know for sure. though. |

mySharona, From the list of food allergies you posted, it looks like you can still have chicken and turkey, lots of green vegetables, beets, squash and rice. Except for the rice, there is nothing there that will feed the Candida... This is essentially the diet that I am on right now (if you take away the chicken, ). Find some compliant (or beneficial) spices and mix and match to have some great meals... Better than that, you'll do massive amounts of healing. Understand that there may still be some pain involved with healing because, according to some MDs, Candida sometimes attacks the nerve sheath, so healing this can be painful. |

Can you share with us the specific treatments/medicines your doctor's have put you on? With the health issues you are dealing with, your best strategy would be to get your secretor status tested asap. The nonnie diet for A's is quite different than the diet for secretors. It's the only blood type that has such a marked difference in foods. Approximately 27 foods change value for this blood type. Candida is a hard issue to overcome, especially if it is entrenched in your body. Do you do any ghee on an empty stomach? How about any of these other supplements that Dr. D recommends for Fungal support?
Quoted Text
Fungal Support Protocol for Type A:
Stinging Nettle root (Urtica dioica), “UDA Plus”: 1-2 capsules, twice daily Elecampane (Inula helenium), 500 mg: 1 capsule with meals 1-2X daily Caprylic acid, 350 mg: 1-2 capsules, twice daily away from food. Betaine HCl, 250 mg: 1 capsule with large meals Oregon Grape (Berberis aquifolium), 250-500 mg: 1-2 capsules, twice daily Polyflora A (ABO Specific Probiotic): 2 capsule daily
Often times with deep seated issues, it will take longer to turn your health around. Please stick with it. BTD really will change you life if you give it the time to work for you. |

Candida is a hard issue to overcome, especially if it is entrenched in your body.
This is so true... I have been healing / recovering from Candida for several years. I had pneumonia twice about 5 years ago as well. Mine was caused by allergies, candida and wrong type eating. NAET helped with the allergies and I struggled on my own trying to kill the Candida. While I was slowly improving, I think I would have progressed faster if I had been more BTD compliant. Since I have been on the diet fairly compliantly, there have dramatic improvements... I recently made a list of the foods that are beneficial for both Sec and Non-Sec for my blood type and only eat foods from that list. Wow, what a difference! I can see why everyone recommends getting the test and specifically eating for your Secretor status. |

Hi everyone! Hope you're all doing well! I thought I'd jump in on this thread since I still haven't had my secretor status confirmed. I asked my twin to do it for me since I had a problem with bleeding gums when I ordered it and she has since misplaced it. I'm pretty certain we're non-secretor with all I've read and with our health issues. Also, I know I do much better if I totally avoid wheat. I have two questions related to status. I posted one before about a blood test instead of saliva test, but this is something different. A few years back (probably about 4) I had allergy testing done. The doctor said the results were inconclusive, that it occurs with about 20% of the population. He said I definitely had allergies, but the tests weren't helpful for me. Now, learning more about the BTD and such, I'm pretty sure that the reason that test didn't register allergens is because I'm a non-secretor. Does anyone have any information to support that theory? I'd like to know for sure what I am, but I don't want to spend money for another test. I am getting myself back on board to compliancy with the BTD program and have a non-secretor list prepared. What are your thoughts on this? My other question was to confirm that spelt is OK for Type A, non-secretor...? I'm confused with spelt because it seems a form or derivative of wheat. Any help to any of these questions would be much appreciated. I'm looking forward to being back on plan. I feel MUCH better when BTD compliant! Best wishes to each of you, Stefani |

try the non secretor guidelines for a while and see if things change for the better.
if you start feeling better, bingo!
about the spelt.......perhaps you have a gluten intolerance, and you need to adjust your guidelines accordingly. |

OK, Today is my new "Day 1". I'm following the Type A non-secretor food list (love the page available here to check foods!). I'm really happy to be back on the BTD and think it'll help me get healthier. Thank you for being here for posts, info and support and thanks to Dr. D'Adamo for his research and this wonderful plan! Can twins do that? Use the others saliva for secretor test and they will know both? The reason I am asking is because I know some that are thinking of doing the secretor test and getting only one is a big difference...especially here in Canada. Thanks. Debra |

Can twins do that?
The material on the wiki indicates that whether one is a secretor or not is an inherited trait. Thus a secretor test on an identical twin would determine the other twins secretor status. A test on a fraternal twin would not indicate the other twins secretor status. |

Thanks so much for your posts and support! I'll let you know once I found out my status. I'd be surprised if I'm not a non-secretor, but others have been surprised by their status in the past, too. We're identical twins, so that's why it should be OK for one to do the test and both to know their status. Thank you again, Stefani |

The issue is not if the grains are related in any way. The concern is the lectin in wheat. Lectins can be different is closely related food items. Beans are a good example of that. |

Sharona, Are you still checking in with us from time to time? I am wondering how you are doing. I just wanted to say to you that a lot of us have gone through horrible and frightening periods of health problems, diseases and chronic conditions. Thousands of people have had their health turn around by following the BTD. I believe strongly that Dr. D. saved my life through making this lifestyle availble to me. It's nothing short of amazing, what can happen in the body when we give it what it needs in order to heal. From what I've seen, the people who do not benefit from it are people who are not really compliant. A very healthy, and especially, a young person, and very especially, the Secretors, can afford to eat avoids occasionally. But older people, people with chronic ailments, immune problems, serious diseases, AND Non-secretors, (In my humble opinion) have no business eating avoids. We might as will turn up the box of rat poison and gulp it down. Healing and avoids do not go together. I want to encourage you to get one of Dr. D's books, if you don't have it. Make a list of what you CAN eat, and eat it. Don't be discouraged. Just give it your full effort, and believe that you can begin to get well. |
