Good health is sooooo much more delicious than any foods that we may need to give up.

Yes I truly beliee it's some kind of evil torture device... A secretors may have corn, nonnies may have tomatoes... That is just wrong!
Makes it kind of difficult to dine at a mexican restaurant! Corn, tomatoes, tortillas, avoid beans, cheese, etc..... I miss mexican food but I don't miss the way I used to feel. |

Sorry about the above post - I'm trying to work out how to do a 'quote'!!!
Anyway, to add to the above - Oh, Peppermint Twist, you are so right - 'thin feels soooo good!!' I've 5lbs to go, so will let you know how it feels!!!
Have read the posts re saliva testing - yeah, reckon this secretor had better shut up and just get on with it!! |

Actually, what I said was "Nothing tastes as good as health feels". It was the commercial for Jenny Craig that said "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels." I much prefer the word "health" because "thin" can feel wonderful or horrible, depending upon how/why ya got there. |

OK, it's official - my husband is a confirmed SECRETOR, me thinks it will save any arguements because we both have to eat exactly the same - wonder if it will work out like that??? |

Not quite. There is still the individual. Within the framework of BTD, he can still have different preferences from you. He can still have foods that will work a bit better for him. The balance of food types and portion sizes will be different. In a general sense you are eating the same diet. By and large eating the same menu will be good. Just be aware that his needs individually will merit consideration. Not to be eating pork, or something like that, but within the framework of BTD. All in all, congrats on the good news!!! |

It's actually working out pretty well that Hubby and I are both A's, even though he just (yesterday) turned out to be a secretor (as we had guessed). He started out making funny faces at what I was planning to eat, and having a lot of ready-to-eat cereal for his own supper. Then he gradually started trying what I was fixing, and I gradually expanded my repertoire. Most days now, he eats whatever I fix -- and on Sunday, he even baked the spelt bread while I had a nice bath! |

Lloyd, that's exactly right. We already know about his individual needs! Actually, joking apart, he can eat things which don't suit me and me not him. Anyway, it's a good start for us both. We both have a couple of kilos to lose, so the race is on.................. |

I don't want to be a nonnie but I probably am. There are already so many foods I can't eat and I'm not a raving fan of avocados.
I finally purchased a secretor test but I am not sure about mailing it in. I live in the boonies so I have to find out if there can be a pick-up. |

The directions make a big deal about shipping your spit off the day you collect it, via next-day-air, and if something comes up, you need to refrigerate it until you can ship it via next-day-air. Maybe they're just covering their rear, but it sounds like it actually could make a difference. Considering how much the test costs, plus the fact that you're planning to base how you eat for the rests of your life on the results -- I'd say ship it next-day-air if at all possible, and if that service is not available in your area, phone the lab for advice. Not meaning to worry you, Victoria, but maybe you're actually a secretor, and the reason your test came out nonnie was that all your antigens died on the way to the lab. (Just a thought. I specialize in paranoid.) |

Okay. I feel a little less spooked about shipping my test. I'll just take the test and walk to the post office with it.
It's so COLD here that it will be like traveling with refridgerated material. |
