I'm going to crawl back into my hole and take my black light and litmus paper with me and sulk.

OH, BTW, I never directly answered the question, but I was at first STUNNED I wasn't a nonnie, disbelief followed, now acceptance with some skeptitism thrown in.

It is what it is so I'm dealing with it.

There is a Lewis genotype that does secrete, but Dr. D recommends that they eat as a nonnie.   The A2/A1 thing could also have some influence.  You might consider having the full serotyping done.

Apparently blood donors are told their blood type in some detail, at least by some agencies.  So check with your local Red Cross, blood bank, etc., to see whether donating a pint might be worth your while.  (And speaking of limited funds, I've heard that some places even pay you money!)

Or was it you who said they were not able to donate blood?

At least I get corn. †I can't go to a Mexican restaurant and NOT do the tortillas. †OH WAIT! †and dip them into the WHAT KIND of salsa????? †Major bummer!

Well try this †guacemole dipper:

2 avocados, juice of 1 lemon, garlic (the more the better ) and some soycream..
put all in the blender and just savour this guacemole dipsauce!!! (dribble, dribble!)
add some salt and some pepper if needed..
This is sooooo delicious with doritos!!! Can't get enough of this guacemole..
We A's are sooo lucky to enjoy avocados.... yummilicious!!!!

Enjoy your tortillas!!!

Gee, the only way I can do Mexican is fajitas, no tortilla, with lettuce and salsa as sides. I'm not complaining (much) but I do miss my burros and tostidas. Not to mention guacamole and chips. Or tamales. Or cheese sauce. Or enchiladas. I guess I'm getting the point across..........

Good question, Janet!

Page 44 of the Complete BT Encyyclopedia lists a reference that seems to show the term 'secretor status' was in common use in the medical field back in 1972.

Just like cybertooth, I was also very surprised to find out I was a secretor.  One of the main reasons I started on the BTD was because I was so prone to urinary tract infections.  I also get colds a lot, have allergies, got cavities a lot as a child, etc.

So, how and where do you get this Lewis serotyping done?  And what happens if someone gets back a status indicating that they are a secretor who should eat like a non-secretor?  Does this mean that they should eliminate all foods that neither secretors nor non-secretors should eat?

Sounds like a result like that would 'lean heavily' on the nonnie side to me!!
Yeh, looks like that's the next test - but could I cope with yet more disappointment?? I might get a double whammy!!

You can get a full serotyping done from the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine.

You can contact them at 480/970-0000.
Testing includes:
ABO type
A1 or A2 subtype (if needed)
Rh +/-
Lewis type
MN type

The result of saliva secreter test is the determing test, if there is a conflict between the saliva secretor test and the Lewis type test, as to whether you should follow the secretor or non-secretor food plan for your BT.

How long have you been on the BTD?  When I had my son and me tested I was surprised that he was a secretor because of his bad teeth and slower recovery time from colds.  I recover faster and Iím the non-secretor.  Since we started our reformed eating, neither of us has been sick in January.  With Chicagoís warm cold rain snow winter this year, it is surprising.  So the longer and stronger you maintain the BTD, the more youíll see your symptoms disappear.

How about this.
As Peter has indicated in the past, he puts nearly all his LDN patients on the nonsecretor diet. In fact, Marshal is the only LDN I have ever heard of who has produced a positive secretor results through the saliva test. Now you see that Peter's office gave those instructions precisely because the saliva result is the ultimate determinant even in very rare cases like Marshal's.

Since you obtained a secretor result through the saliva test, there is no need to go further to the Lewis test; as you see by the above, the saliva test rules.

Thanks you everyone, especially Don.  So I guess I have to assume that I am a secretor.

The tomato thing is bad, as in so sad. I am an O sec, but can't eat the lovely things because of arthritis, anyway.  I loooovvvve them and wish there were some version of them that I could have....non found yet. I tried the carrot based sauce that is in the recipes somewhere, and it was ok in chile, I have doubts about spaghetti. Jayney-0
