If you could choose your blood type (and the food list that goes with it), what would you be? I could only give 7 options - so AB wasn't broken out into secretor status. Did you pick your own type? (I know I didn't!) |

As a pre-existing vegetarian it was the happiest day of my life when I tested A secretor. I wouldn't wish to be another blood type.

I did choose my own type--well, what is PROBABLY my type--O nonnie. I don't know yet for sure, but everything in my medical history points to it.
This may sound a little weird, but I spent many years hating my body and how it looked and worked. It's just been in the little while that I've come to actually like my hunter-gatherer, wonky old prototype body. It's gotten me this far even though I've eaten just about everything that was pure poison to it--and it's healing itself now on the BTD. So I'm happy. |

Love this question! I thought about it a while before answering. I sometimes have B envy because I really love cheese, but prefer the O secretor diet overall. Love that meat, but like to have the greater range of grains, sweeteners, etc. than nonnies. Most of all, I think the O secretor health risks are the most benign, ulcers, arthritis and inflammation compared to heart disease, cancer and MS. Plus I'm not good at being sick since I rarely am, just don't think I could handle the nonnie challenges. |

Prior to the BTD, I was intuitively eating many of the beneficial foods that were important for my health, which made being an 'A' a very smooth transition into the BTD. I love the backbone of the 'A' secretor diet: tofu, tempeh, beans, lots of fish, many fruits, peanut butter/peanuts, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, the benefit of tolerating grains/bread/starches, and the unlimited number of vegetables we are allowed!
My second choice would be 'A' nonsecretor, then blood type 'AB' as they have a good balance of beneficial foods from each blood group. |

I'm quite happy with being an O-sec. I wouldn't like to change it either. Having said that, you can always hear me mumbling "lucky b**tards!" in front of a dairy shop cheers, Yaman |

yaman, I can agree with you there. The major disadvantage I can think of being an O secretor is the dairy issue. I love dairy! I miss dairy! But, I do have the benefit of all that meat, veggies, and fruits! Now, if only I can find a way to make creamy sauces, desserts, etc. |

I think I am OK with my blood type as I enjoy the things I eat. I guess I would only pick A nonsecretor because they can have peppers and tomatoes. I miss cajun seasoning and salsa sometimes. |

I think it's funny how few Bs are here, yet how many votes B got... Maybe we're advanced? I know being a non is harder for your health overall, but I still think it's the best diet... I love dairy, tomatoes and the occasional drink. And of course, all the veg and fruit. I do miss pastas and breads sometimes, though. I suppose everyone has to miss something. |

Yeah, I did vote for my type and secretor status. It was actually quite easy for me to transition to the BTD. However, I do miss corn and would love to have just ONE type of olive that I could eat compliantly. The lack of compliant oils eliminates most packaged foods - probably a good thing health-wise.
I do get tired of dairy sometimes...

EASY! Always knew I'd choose type B, probably secretor, either one would do. But then found myself reflecting on the joys of being an A nonnie, like me ol' Bryan. That is a really great diet! and Hey, then we'd be on the same plan. Probably shouldn't have brought that element into the mix, but it did occur to me in passing. And funny thing, my B-devotion wavered. I mused back & forth, couldn't settle, so went to Live Right and examined both the A and B sections again r e a l l y carefully (this is a huge life decision, not to be made lightly!! ). Now, rather than a three-line post, you're getting this one. Well, what a head scratcher it was. Without thinking about it, I would have said Yes to either of the above. On serious inspection, it quickly became clear that neither one would... quite... do, for one little pinch or another, and some bigger reasons, too. KeeRap, this should NOT be so difficult... but there it was. I just wouldn't be happy with either one -- and I'm perfectly well pleased with my current polymorphic configuration. Sighed, pointed the mouse at the O non button, and.... forgot I hadn't even looked at the AB pages. Two seconds glancing over them, and LIGHTBULB!!!! A2B Nonsecretor Rhesus Neg ... that's my write-in, Aewoyn. It's perfect... a step closer to vegetarian day-to-day cooking, but with roughly one serving of meat and one of fish daily, grain here & there, soy here & there, veg selections are a joy (tomatoes & potatoes & sweet potatoes no problem - can someone say, Hallelujah?) the cheese selections are superb for those special occasions. AND THE FRUIT LIST. WHOO-HOO! The corn thing and lack of sweeteners? Heck, I live with that now. Hot chilis? WHO CARES?? And I was never so wild about chicken OR bananas that I wouldn't trade them for strawberries, blackberries and apples in a heartbeat. Mmm... I'm loving this already. Any of these extremely rare critters around on the board? Likely not. Probably too busy going about their happy foodster lives to stop by. If I woke up an A2B-neg nonnie tomorrow, I'd stretch luxuriantly and whisper two little words: "Champagne." "Caviar." thanks for this great poll, Aeowyn! fits nicely with the other "other side" poll, doncha think? |

Being an O sec. is the type I would choose. Why? Because it is what I am used to.
Before reading the BTD book I had already taken myself off of some of the food items that were on the Avoid list. I was seeing an allergist he told me I had no allergies only sensitivites. I took myself off of some of the foods trying to find out what my body couldn't handle. I was told about the BTD by a clerk at a health food store and began following it. Being on the BTD is no biggy since I already had myself on some part of it. I like how the BTD makes me feel good and not sick all the time.
I had also read a book on Food Combining and follow some of the rules it talked about. I found out I eat to fast and eat some wrong combinations. I wish I would have known all these things when I was younger. |

I chose B secretor. I followed BTD as a secretor the first 1 1/2 years. I think I was happier then. I at least had less guilt when I ate avoids. I still drink 1 coffee a day, and I shouldn't. If I were a secretor, that wouldn't be an issue. And I could eat more grains. I used to love eating almond butter and jam sandwiches on spelt bread. Now I get 1 - 4 servings of grain a week. Not enough to make it worth buying a loaf of spelt bread. |

Yes Heidi, this does fit with the other survey. It was when I posted my avoid menu that I realized most of the things I want to eat are good for other blood types I want to be a B with a side of secretor please. I've always envied Bs, and I'm sticking to it! Is it possible to get tired of dairy? Kristin, can this be true? I know that diary makes this O nonnie congested, but if I could have diary AND breathe... I would gladly trade some of my meat for yogurt and CHEESEEEEEE. Who needs chicken, there are plenty of other meat in the sea... I mean land. And look at all the grains. Oats are not only allowed - they are beneficial!! The biggest downside for B secretor is bye-bye tomato (you have to know that when I was on a non BTD diet that didn't allow tomatoes, I once told a co-dieter to sue me as I ate one anyway!), but with all the sauces I could have with dairy, I'd trade the tomato in a heart beat. I'm kinda used to not eating potatos - but as a B I would gladly add this back as an occassional treat. I bet Bs could even make a compliane CHEESE CAKE...... Avoid menus..... changing blood type..... I was driving to work yesterday and I swear I smelled cake. As I got closer to work I was sure I smelled frosting. I thought it might be all these seductive polls - but I swear it was REAL. Can an O nonnie get in trouble by smelling sugar? I did not ingest - I only inhaled! |

Linda...buy a loaf of Ezekiel and leave it in the freezer...it's pre-sliced and defrosts quickly under the broiler. And as I sit here, eating cottage cheese with a spoon of fig jam, I think: no, it's not possible to be sick of dairy. |

salut heidi, heeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrllllllich Dein statment-I love your form of writings-jaaaouuu- so you teached me now-that I am allowed as being an A2B,Rh.pos.but "non-sechi" that I may have caviar? T tought thats was undergoing into avoids???? Therefore I ask, today for the last time, please help me for the nonnnie-recipes.I think I don't know aanything about this, must be very honest now, as I am doing the mediteranian (Francia)cutchina I am looking for me for the avoids, bien-sure auch for my life-partner which is an O!!!!!!!!!And then hoppala-wurschtl-wurschtl I cook................................................................. It makes me sometimes a little but more than "insure",sometimes I'd like to practise the BTD in 1000000%- and then gettin insure by questionin if I am right with my doings???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! B I have all,not true, the cancerbook idont' have it, but the rest of all the books of Dr.D. are in my daily use-most frequent the enciclop.so there I am finding all at once. But be aware-my dear, that being an AB is not everytime soooooooooooooooooo easy-sometimes your A is calling hey you-what are you doing here-ought to.......and next five minutes your B makes you doing foolish things like saucey jokes (the A gives his statment in cynique forms......) and so you are stretched the whole day................................dont' neet any sports any more------ easy like that hihihi No sir,I think I must work also over all the themes, because I thought that all is well- no sir- I must repeat and reoeat and then ther comes a client and all is in an other way-because we can't reglement or fix up a "living person"only where rigidit is, there is sickness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey thanks all of you-made me thinking-super-super-thanks again-truly yours I.M. |

I'm almost in your camp, heidi, but I'll take A2B+ secretor. That way I still get most of my preferred gluten-free baking ingredients (and even get romano/cranberry/copper bean flour added), but more MEAT and DAIRY choices and an easier time at the fish counter. The only trouble is that I would have to find another way to get my B vitamins, since I would lose nutritional yeast.
But overall, they've got it made!

hrrmmmm.... {{squints through the AB Grains n Starches again}} gluten-free baking..... hmmm. only thing we'd lose going with sec rather than non is soy flour, for which other bean flours could step right in as you ably noted. what's that about noot-yeast? nah, you're peeking through TYPEbase, I'll bet. do we have another tiny cavil there? the book's right. where's the big guy in these threads, anyway... oh well, he can't be ALL things to ALL people, just most things to a whole lotta happy campers. It's so ... everything!.... it's so YOU, don't you think? Oo! Oo! And we could toast your newfound excellent taste with a Bombay Sapphire martini, extra dry, straight up and Arctic cold, with two big fat Queen Green Olives, darlin'! YES! jaaaaaaaoooooooooouuuuuuuuuu it is- but I prefer the green olives without any stuffy things,I'd like to stayclear in my drained brain- where did you find all those info's about A2B, Rh- non-sechi?I understood that the Rh-factor is not important for foodstuffs? So I wil and will and will stay on my A2B ++++++++++++++++++ non-secretor mediterranian french-style cucina-lecker-lecker.
Claro gluten-free baking-allways doing my fresh bread myslef, but here I am using a little"oriental" recipe- never giving it completely to others- with some ingredients-whow super.................... Isa, that's OK if you don't want to share your recipe. All my A2B-Neg Nonsecretor food info is in Live Right 4 Your Type. The Rhesus factor doesn't affect food values, but it does have an impact on portions allowed per week - see the Meat/Poultry and Fish categories, particularly. Truly, everyone will learn a bunch if they review that book when choosing their 'ideal blood type.' totally cool thread, Aeowyn! |

heidi, I didn't think I would lose soy. I'd better not; it actually isn't particularly replaceable for me, since I use it as an egg replacer along with flax (eggs have given me headaches the last three times I have tested them). I'm confused. And about nutritional (brewer's) yeast, it and stevia are listed as avoids for A 2Bs on p.319 of LR4YT. Without a portion/frequency table it's easy to miss. I'm having a hard time seeing how the neggie-nonnie variant of A 2B is superior to the secretor variant. OK, I'd get fava beans back, but I'd lose Brazil nuts. Not that I'm particularly attached to them for taste, but Brazil nuts sure would make it easier to meet my selenium requirement! Nutritional yeast doesn't cut it--and I couldn't have it anyway. And I wouldn't want to lose agar before I even had a chance to experiment with it (to stabilize a gluten-, dairy-, and egg-free pumpkin pie, for instance). Sweeteners are nice, too. And sorry, but you won't entice me into your camp with a martini! I have no idea which alcoholic drinks are gluten-free, and I don't care 'cause I can't stand the smell of the stuff in the first place. Looks like I'll be staying a secretor! --Sarah |

Looks like the B's are winning!
B, B, B, B... how I would LOVE to be a B. All this talk about ABs - I reviewed the lists and I will not be swayed! I was tempted for a few minutes by "A" when I realized A's could have corn and popcorn.... but I shouldn't let this neutral item sway me - besides what are corn chips if you can't have salsa -- popcorn w/out butter is OK, but - no - just not worth it.
And to think, I had a chance to be a B. I've been able to determined my parent's sub types are Ao/+- and Bo/+-. Don't know secretor info - but I could have been ANYTHING... |

--Sarah
Hey Sarah ~ I see a post like yours, and my eyes light up. This is so neat, because you're looking at it from the viewpoint that you would be celiac (maybe you're including your kids there, too), no matter which type you chose, and so the best 'celiac + blood group' list is what guides your evaluation of the blood types for purposes of this poll. You reach your decision via a far more complex route than mine. I'm looking at it from purely a personal 'idea' of the diet I'd prefer in terms of cuisines, balance among food groups, and ease/expense of shopping/cooking/ eating in / eating out -- also figuring that since this is a fantasy, I can say: "OK, Bryan will be one, too!" and do so in good faith, really, after mentally switching my 'lenses' for his and considering what he likes to cook and eat, what he misses and what he doesn't care about... add to that One List To Rule Them All (well, all two of us) and we'd be stylin' ~ it's a wow. In discussing differences between secretor & non, I thought you minded losing Soy flour/bread as a gluten-free alternative. Well, the added extra bennies I like about neg v. pos are: WHOA, there aren't any!! Umm... because I don't like borage oil? !! Gets really complicated with two antigens, one subtype, and the other usuals thrown in. I chose non v. sec because there are proportionately more servings weekly of what I really like, and less here & there of what I don't care for as much. Even in the cheeses, where the combo of a 2b and non reduces things significantly, at least I could have a bit of neutral or Beneficial cheese on special occasions, and enjoy it as a 'good for me' food. For nuts... well I have to say I'd be sorely tempted back to 'secretor' just for the sake of PISTACHIOs, but... when you've got peanuts, butternuts, CHESTNUTS, and almonds that pop up to Beneficial... aw, who cares about pistachios. Never cared for Brazil nuts... and there's plenty of selenium in my nutritional yeast (KAL). P.S.: it's grown on beets. Or, as it says on the package, "is not a byproduct of the brewing industry" -- so I'd say "Fa De La" to the 'no brewer's yeast' warning. But, the AB type, whether secretor OR non, A2 or A1, rhesus whaddevah, really rocks. Thanks for exploring it with me, Sarah! |

If I were type O, then I would have chosen O sec or B sec, since they seem to have the best of meat and dairy choices respectively and given those diets are less restrictive than O non. Being that there are no secretors in my immediate family, I have no concept what it would be like, since nons are more prone to inflammatory conditions than secretors. Inflammatory diseases like lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and Goodpastures Syndrome (rare inflammatory disease affecting kidneys) run rampant on my mom's side of the family and in my immediate family. Allergies and chronic sinusitis have pretty much plagued me since my teen years. The O non diet is based on foods that promote the least amount of inflammation. The A non diet eliminates most meats, dairy, all wheat products except spelt and the sprouted breads, corn and all corn products,so in some ways, the A diets are just as restrictive as the O diets. Looking at the meat and veg choices that O nons have , I could live with those choices, especially since their avoid vegs just happen to be the ones I dislike the most anyway.
If given a choice between A sec and A non, no way would I trade my A non diet. Some of the avoid meats became neutral, many of the avoid fish became neutral or beneficial and best of all tomatoes and peppers became neutral. Soy went from beneficial to neutral, thank goodness, because I had problems with it causing stiffness in my joints and extreme hormonal imbalances. I had never had acne or mood swings until I began eating soy and I'm no where close to being menopausal, so I just stopped eating it and now I'm fine. |

: Laughing Out Loud And I feel great great on my O nonnie diet. But if I could eat another "type" diet AND get all the benefits from eating their foods that they get - I would want to be a "B". But I'm not, and I don't - so O nonnie it is! Not that bad once you get used to it . |

I was almost ready to say B...thinking I would enjoy being able to eat cheese whenever I wanted but what also comes with Bs are those "gamey" meats that I find fairly revolting just by reading the list..So, next might be the O SEC diet...with all the steak, but Mmm, where are my peanuts and my coffee and the large choice of other carbs. Wouldn't be happy with that...I guess I'm happy with my own diet...A SEC... |

I picked O secretor. O's don't die. They live forever. A's drop dead at the first sign of a malignancy. B's have the best food because they can have dairy but O's still live forever. |

I voted for my own BT. Type B. Should know my secretor status soon as I sent my test kit in yesterday. Love the variety of o.k. foods. I miss eating nuts though. Before November 3, when I started BTD, I ate a lot of cashews, peanuts, pistachio's, and pumpkin seeds. Popcorn was also a staple of mine. It wasn't hard to give these up though because I replaced them with other things. Did you know that you can pop millet grain like popcorn? |

I'm cool with no beef, didn't think I would be, but I am.
Dairy? Well no... for a while now, I knew that eating cheese made me someone to avoid being around. Besides, my Type B friend often talks about hating giving up chicken so bad, she would buy a roasted chicken and peel the skin off the bird and chew on it and spit it out. Holy cow!! No... I don't wanna be a B.
I don't understand type AB. I start reading and it's like NOOOOOOOOOOOO I can't go there.
Gosh where does that leave me.... A nonnie? oh yeah.... that would explain the tomato cravings wouldn't it? More choices for meats would be nice. Some rabbit? That might be a nice change from chicken all the dang time just because I can't get fish past my Type A (with strong tendencies toward beef and dairy) house spouse. |

[quote by=Diane_Gerencser link=Blah.pl?b=lr4yt,m=1099449363,s=0 date=1099449363]If you could choose your blood type (and the food list that goes with it), what would you be?
I picked my own bloodtype. Learning about myself through this diet has been life changing, and now I like my being an a type. I used to hear about people hunting for meat and think 'I must be really lazy, but if I had to do all that just to live I would be in real trouble. It all sounded so extreme just for a piece of meat when you could fish for something better (in my a opinion) and much cleaner to fix.
Just a side note here, I read the book eryt before I knew my blood type. I thought Dr D must really not like a types. His example was Hitler! Then I learned he is one!
I am learning how to be 'myself' for the first time. When I was in junior high a teacher had a sign on her desk 'learn to be who you are'. I always wondered about that. Because if you 'are' a certain person, why do you have to learn to be that person. A little riddle that would come back to me occasionally. But that has been my whole process with the btd, and a long time ago the dadamo board did the personality test and I learned more about myself. Combining a traits with the personality profile, and bingo, that is me. So cool. Thanks. |

I picked the B-secretor type. Talking about bloodtypes i told a friend that if i could chose my bloodtype i would want to be B, and ofcourse healthwise i would always chose to be a secretor. This does not at all mean i hate being a A2-ns-MM, on the contrary. I have gotten used to what works for me, and i feel great on the btd and got much more healthy and energetic since i am on the nonnie diet (about 3 years now). But what appeals to me most with the B-type's foodlist is the dairy (as an MM i get less then zero dairy weekly . |

I guess I am so boring! I voted for exactly what I am. Reason is.....I have spent so much of my life with an uncomfortable body because I was eating wrong, and now that I have found such an easy ticket to health, along with a comfortable body, I have come to LOVE the foods that make me feel good!! I don't miss the foods that are not good for me, because they are associated in my mind with the way they used to make me feel. Only one thing I would change if I could.........I guess, I might prefer to be a secretor so that I would have a sturdier immune system/vitality/protection thing in place in my body. But at least, being a nonnie makes me take this very seriously, indeed!! No foolin' around here! I know I can't afford the luxury of carelessness or indulgence. So I love my B non status, and feel that it has saved my life. |

Sorry for the late reaction! Have had other things on my mind. Well, for being type A2+, secretor, MN, I am happy with it.. When Peter typed me in the clinic in september 2001, he complimented me with my 'great' blood!!! Wowww, first time I got a bloody compliment!! I love my A-diet, feel great.. Never liked meat... Dairy caused eczema as a kid. I am hAppy But if I could choose, I think I would like to be a B... Yes, the body-mind connection intriques me.. Those B's and AB's are more in control of their body than A's and O's . No, I would not like to be an AB... too tolerant immunesystem. (Sorry Isa!! ) No, no O for me either.. no, too prehistorical those types!!! So oldfashioned... (sorry Yaman!! ) I will stick to my A-status. A stands for firstgrade!! A-quality. That's my type!! tAke cAre and stAy well.. Cocky |

I too sometimes envy B's - because of the dairy (LOVE brie, cottage cheese etc.) they are allowed to have..... But...... living on the coast - I could NEVER give up my crab, shrimp ,clams, crayfish etc.... I also LOVE beef and am so glad I can finally eat it guilt free!! So over all I'm one very happy "O"! |

I also picked my own blood type. Kinda funny cuz when i did the blood typing a month ago I was so psyched to find out that i was B. Haha it sounds dumb, but I am addicted to dairy products, especially cheese, and I predicted i was going to be type O. What a pleasant suprise. I am still pretty new to this whole thing so I am slowly learning. The one thing i will absolutley miss is tomato sauce and ketchup. Coming from an italian family dosnt help haha, we eat sauce like everyday and i eat ketchup on everything ugh, its ok i found a banana ketchup that tastes like ketchup!! The second missing is shellfish and crustaceans! oh no, its ok tho becasue i dont eat it often, altho when i do YUM. |

I think I am OK with my blood type as I enjoy the things I eat. I guess I would only pick A nonsecretor because they can have peppers and tomatoes. I miss cajun seasoning and salsa sometimes.
Don't know yet if I'm a secretor or not but if I find out I'm a nonnie, tomatoes and peppers would be a reason to celebrate! However, I seriously think I'm a secretor because since I haven't eaten tomatoes and peppers I feel better. I just got a secretor test and have to pick a day to actually do it. |

Why aren't there more votes for A? A would easily be my second choice, after B of course. I always liked tofu, and they get a little dairy, enough to make me happy.
But, I do have my sweet potatoes, and I can't say that I'm not fond of steak. I'm starting to feel more comfortable with my O nonnie-ness. |

When I first read ER4YT I thought I was an O, and was a wheat eating vegan. I had no faith in the diet until I read my medical records, and discovered I was an A!! So except for the wheat I chose the A diet years ago. No longer a strict vegan I would love to partake in the eel and shellfish my O husband enjoys. Is there a wheat, icecream, potato and take-away option in this fantasy world? I have been questioning clients and colleages alike as to their preferences and blood type. Except for a few avoids that are just too readily available in fast food(wheat) most are naturally inclined to their type diet. |

I picked my type because I was surprised to find that I had laready made some of the changes in food and exercised that are for AB. I didn't look at the other types; I'm not one to compare my lawn to the neighbors'.

this is evil question, but what is evil?
as a former vegan I would have really loved if I had been A, so I could have gone on with soy and without having to eat this meat, it tastes so,,, dead,,,,
but Im kind of starting to enjoy being B anyway, maybe the things I value in myself are from the B genetic heritage, even though this B idealism with B soy intolerance is a mindbender,
but what can one do, to be what one is, trying to get more healthy,

You aren't forced to eat anything beneficial or neutral if you don't like it... so if you don't like meat, why do you eat it? There's so many beneficial food for a B and it doens't make any sense to eat something what someone doesn't like anyway. |

wow this was a hard choice. But i miss my meat, and if I were an O I could have every type I like and shell fish too.....And havent had any since I developed an alergy to it a few years back. Probably because I am an A. I dont miss cheese to much and can do without the grains and breads too. Just give me my beef back, and venison, duck, liver and lamb, ughhh still no pork chops but as long as I have beef I am ok.

I chose my own bloodtype! How very exciting, huh? (I guess I'm a secretor - don't know for sure yet) I do envy my B-type husband sometimes. I love diary! But I sure am a carnivore , and as Cheryl said on page one - the O-deseases sound less serious, so... |

I voted in this poll a while back and picked my own blood type of A. Haven't changed my mind about that. Been experimenting and trying new foods and ways of preparing. We A's are sometimes repeatative in our food choices. One week I ate avocado every day for lunch! But my horizons are expanding and my 2 O's are more receptive to less avoids and more neutral/beneficial foods because I have made an effort to try new foods and recipes. They like lamb, Who knew? And for all of us missing pork- try panbrowned turkey cutlets. ... Diane |

I used to think A-type was 'cool' for vegetarian I couldn't do the BTD at first due to secretor list was BAD for me. But I am good at sticking to my guns and predominantly a 'backsliding vegan'. Besides the sushi bar, when I eat meat I'll butcher it first before I support the plastic industry. I like cultured products BUT I'm not hung up on the dairy deal. Once you get the hang of making your own nut/seed milks there is a whole new world to discover.... But I know that there is more to BTD than ABO or secretor--I am still walking my own path. One day I'll have my own lab to do my own Lectin tests. |

Finally sent in my saliva test and found out, much to my surprise, that I'm an O secretor. And pretty happy to be one, actually! I do miss dairy (mostly stuff like cheesecake and ice cream), but the O sec food plan has BEEF--and I am a total carnivore! So I'm content. |

I chose my own even though we are more suseptable to Cancers we are also more likely to change our diet habits if we set our mind to it. By doing that turn our chances around drasticly! |

Well if I could really choose, then I would choose to be all blood types, I'd be an AOBAB, so I Could eat EVERYTHING! But on the other hand there would be more avoids No seriously, I chose none of the four types, because none of them itself has overwhelming advantages over the others. No matter what blood type you are, if you know what type you are, you have health in your own hands and so all blood types can lead a healthy life, if they follow the BTD guidelines. Some say it's not so good to be an A, because of all the cancer and heart disease risks. But if you carefully follow the A diet, you can bypass these diseases. Just take a look at Japan: They have a very high rate of blood type A, but have the highest life expectancy in the world. Their diet is traditionally low in meat products, but high fish and vegetable consumption. But on the other hand, being B is real cool too, because we are a rare and therefore royal bunch |

I chose to be the type that I am. Although it took me a while to adjust to all this beef and meat. Now that I have I feel so much better. There are things that I miss but not enough to pick another type and give up what I have and be at risk for deadly diseases. |

All I have to say is, thank God I'm a B!!!!!
I've avoided my beloved dairy for so long beacuse it's so "unhealthy," according to the conventional diet wisdom. I jumped for joy the day I bought this book and saw that I could finally have cottage cheese again.
It's weird, but I've always craved the stuff I'm eating now, but stayed away because I thought it was bad. |

When first read about BTD (2 years ago) didn't know my blood type. Reading the Book I thought I'm an O.
When I found out I'm a B felt I won a prize. B diet is great. What don't like about, is the autoimmune disease profile of B's.

I chose B sec even though I am a Non-Sec as I enjoyed potato more than tomato's and liked the larger choice in grains. I am happy I'm a B as its seems I MUST have dairy products to keeps my digestive system working better. There was a time I went through the "anything White is bad" phase and it was a disaster.

I would choose to be me! O all the way, except I do wanna get my secretor status done)
going off dairy was difficult, but this is what I do to make myself happy again;
soy milk + dash of natural vanilla essence + 1 soft banana + 1 large scoop organic soy icecream + liquid honey to taste = yummy treat. |

If I was a B, I would eat cheese, milk and yoghurts knowing that it's good for me. And all the Bs I know are so slim! ... But I can't imagine my life without all the carbohydrates that A diet lets me eat. And I really don't like meat! |

Sorry to ruin your" Bs are so slim" - sonia- My sister and I are both Bs - none of us are slim( but we used to be when we where kids- I follow BTD my sister doesnt -yet!) - but we seem to be overweight in a slightly different way than my O and A friends. Both of us carry the weight all over the body and we both have no problem with colesterol or blooodpressure etc- acttually- as both our docs said" well you should loose weight but looking at your test results we cant see that you are 15 kg(me) overweight or my sister aprox 30 kg! My other B friend is slim but not skinny! |

I love being a "B"positive nonnie. The reason is...........I LLLLOOOOOOVVVEEEEE....... YOGURT & BERRIES, YUMMMMMY. I have been eating 10 lbs of yogurt per week along with about the same amount of mixed berries & blueberries. I could eat that everyday, everymeal, forever!!!!! But, recently, I found out .....(sigh)........ too much of a good thing can be a bad thing :' So in an effort to loose a few pounds, I'm holding back from the yogurt & berries, gotta try to add some veggies & meat , I think every blood type has to eat sweets in moderation or gain weight] (I could do without the meat & veggies) (never had lamb in my life until about 2-3 mths ago. I decided I should try it, because I know I should be eating more meat to have a well-balanced diet. GIVE UP MY YOGURT FOR CHICKEN , IT'S A NO-BRAINER, NOT A CHANCE!!!! (After trying the Atkins diet a few times, I don't miss the meat at all) And I am happy having lamb everyday, I don't have a desire for much more than that. In fact, if I want I can have a steak with my sweet potato with ghee, (just discovered recently that I LLLLOOOOOOOOOVVVVVEEEE sweet potatoes w/ ghee. I do miss cake, sugar, occasionally I fall off the wagon for a piece of cake or a cookie. But being able to be healthy eating yogurt & berries .......I'll stay a "B" nonnie . |

I love this question. I'm going to take this opportunity to vent. I went through a serious period of mourning when I realized I wasn't an A but an O. Almost everyone in my life is an A. I could do without meat (quite frankly), love wheat, avocados, was seriously addicted to coffee before pregnancy, wish I had an excuse to drink red wine more, etc. Boo hoo. I wish I was an A. But, alas, I feel so much better eating for the O diet. So, I guess I need to embrace the things about O that I like. For example, I guess chowing on a piece of steak isn't so bad. Also, I probably wouldn't have been able to kick serious arse in cross country in hs, run a marathon in college, and hike to the top of Mt. Whitney if I were in A. So... I'll try to embrace the O. |

I am happy as an O Sec along with all of my kids, my husband is an O nonnie (poor thing), but he is not following the diet anyway. IT is just so darn tempting(and happened more than once) a pan of Gluten free cookies jumoing into my mouth and half of the pan is gone before I know it and I ahve gained 10 pounds to boot. But As long as I exercise I am Ok with those sneak attacks |

Well I am an O sec, have been on the Diet for over 12 months now, I chose my own blood type as it is what I am used to. I find when I go out and knowing what I can and cant eat, which to me isnt a problem, other people say to me, "Oh I couldnt possibly do that diet".....funny thing is when I ask them their blood type and I tell them the foods they should not eat, they say the couldnt give them up, although they do make them sick or feel uncomfortable..go figure. I have learned some people 'enjoy' being sick, maybe it is the attention they get, or maybe they are just trying to out do people on the amount of prescription drugs they take to 'cure'..(lol) their conditon. |

I live with a B-secretor and he gets to eat all of the things I miss. Cheese, peppers, pickles, etc. I don't know if I'd miss corn because I don't eat it anyway.
I like being an A, but it seems that I have to be aware of vinegar and tomatoes. It was easier when I cooked all of the time, but alas, I've fallen into a bit of depression that Cortiguard has been helping me through, but it seems impossible to do any sort of pre-packaged stuff.
Still plugging away at the diet, though. |

Olerica:
Get the joy back. Nutritionally, it starts with Food that is Real. Buy real fruit and real vegetables. Real dairy. Real grains, nuts and seeds. Real beans. Real dairy, and, yes, there are some dairy products you A's can enjoy, particularly in the "fresh" and "cultured" area. Stay away, yes, from the packaged stuff.
It's truly remarkable what'll start happening.
Even if you weren't doing the blood type thing, and even if you were a B (!), you'd still find yourself having to face the fact that only Real Food is Food.
As a B I only buy the real stuff, and I'm having a ball. Never think about Corn, Tomatoes, Lentils, Peanuts, Buckwheat or Garbanzo beans or even Chicken. It's a NON-ISSUE for me, totally. Don't have to put on my reading glasses in the store to read the labels, because there are virtually NO LABELS anymore!
It's great. Something in this hard world (and I know a thing or two about hardness) (especially these days) to be happy about. |

I may be an O, but in my heart of hearts I'm a total A.... I was a vegetarian for so many years.. that's the food I love to cook and eat. Also, I adore coffee...
My daughter, who is an A, and I enjoyed years of fun vegetarian cooking. She florished.. and I crumpled.. I was so tired... tired.. tired.. the more we created...I finally got SO exhausted, I looked into the BTD.. my daughter still thinks I'm a traitor.. lol
I'd like to be an A... may I have a perminent transfusion, please??
I DO, howerver, follow the O diet.. my life depends on it!! |

I'm unsure. I like the idea of being vegetarian, not giving money to the meat industry and all that, but... but.... it's kind of scary. Like I'm limiting myself to tofu burgers for the rest of my life. I've been a big meat eater since forever. And I chugged skim milk like water when I was little.
But if my body needs tofu, I'll give it tofu!
And I'm sick of being nauseous after eating meat anyway.

A secretor status would be nice! I had to choose Bsec for the variety in the diet. Cheese, potato, meat, fish, apples, sugar, tea, some wheat, oats, honey, blackberries.......a little bit of everything in balanced ratios. Lucky little B's! Any secretor status would help out, though! Nonnie's have such a strict diet. |

At first I thought Iwould choose AAAA! because I was a vegetarian for many many years. But oh, did I eat dairy. So I realized the B type would be so yummy. Cheeeeeeese! I would be BBBB. The O diet is good for me and meat is surprisingly delicious, but I feel bad that I have to have killed food. However, if its true that my health depends on it, then it must be part of a grand plan that is not up to me.....I'm enjoying my new diet as an O. Jayney-O |

I choose B secretor. I love cheese which B's can have, but nonnies have to eliminate a few. Also B sec can have semolina, unbleached wheat and white flour. I am suppose to give up potatoes too now that I know I'm a nonnie. At least I can drink alcohol, but I haven't figured out yet what I'll mix with my rum. I was a rum and Pepsi girl. |

I'd stay an A sec (and change my A-non children to A-sec) because it's easier to go out to eat without dealing with hidden corn. I like the sweetner options open for secretors too.
My husband would choose B so he could have meat and potatoes with cheese melted over everything. I'm not sure how he'd handle the sec/non trade off of tomatoes vs sugar. |

I definitely wouldn't choose to be an O. I have grown to like meat, but I don't like it nearly as much as I like seafood. Plus, I really enjoy rice and the taste of dairy. The only thing I really love about the O diet is eating lots of green veggies. |

I chose O type because I have finally found a place I can be satisfied(to an extent)! I never knew why I ran for the bathroom after eating pork but have learned so much in the books about why.I don't know if I am a secretor or non. When I try to buy a kit it keeps coming back not available in NY yet.Makes me want to move to Joisey just to see what i am!! |

I would stay an A sec. I'm assuming I'm a sec. as tomatoes make me swell up like a balloon and corn does not bother me. I like my food choices and had been fazing out red meat without even noticing it long before the BTD. It all seems to fit. I enjoy this board too, really helps keep me on track. |

Yup, B stands for Best Bloodtype, indubitably.
An O pal on the Forum was telling me she feels sorry for us poor B's who must find it so hard to order, given that we can't eat CHICKEN.
Never a problem. There's always some Beef, or Turkey or lamb, or fish... Even, in a pinch (as I experienced at a Burmese restaurant, where the only other protein choices were Chicken and Shellfish), Pork will do, over Chicken, as Chicken is an Avoid on BOTH TIERS, for B secretors, while Pork is permitted for us TIER ONE followers...
I do have to say that the prepared food case at Whole Foods is awfully chicken-heavy: Chinese Chicken salad, curried chicken salad, chicken pasta salad, chili-rubbed chicken breasts, lemon-herb chicken breasts...etc! RIDICULOUSLY chicken-centered. The turkey offering is a roasted herbed breast that is usually dried out from sitting uncovered in that refrigerated case...
But there's also salmon...and occasionally a roast leg of lamb, or loin of pork, or (at Eastertime) ham...
Yesterday I was very hungry and threw together a meal at the Mexican bar, which is pretty incredible, considering the corn/tomato/avocado (all NoNo's) orientation of the cuisine. I put some "carne asada" in the container, at the bottom (shredded beef with no tomatoes), put a bit of shredded jack cheese on it, spooned some fresh minced jalapenos and some cilantro and some chopped purple onion on top of that... and then, at home, I dumped it on a big plate with "Asian Slaw", a red pepper and cabbage based salad containing (an AVOID) some sesame seeds, however.
We can always find something...
Take a look at the HOT case, the next time you're there. Tomato-City. Still, I wouldn't want tomatoes if it meant giving up B's Plusses!!! Creammmmmmmmm..... |

I can see the case for B sec. I have no complaints as an O sec. If I were A or AB I might like that the best, there's no desire to eat that way for me at all. The chicken factor is not a big thing but it's very convenient for eating out! Cheese would be nice. Wouldn't mind more legumes except then I'd want corn! So O is good. The Rh- is nice too, cause I get more meat and can skip the grains! Being able to use tomato here and there is good too. |

I don't mind being an A non-secretor as far as the diet but in day to day life I don't see many exciting or positive benifits. Being a type A is a lot of work just to feel normal everyday. I had 4 colds and 1 flu this past winter! I just don't understand it. My cousin is a type O and doesnt even care. He eats whatever he wants(dairy/wheat), drinks beer everyday and juices every now and then. I've never liked dairy too much but wheat is great!
Sorry for the rant. You are the only people that could possibly understand. |

wait until your cousin gets older..........he ll eventually ask you for BTD advice. )
meanwhile, embrace your very unique individuality, and do what makes you feel 'right'.

I picked my own type based on the exercise stuff alone. What a relief to know that I can stop struggling with heavy duty workouts and do what makes me feel good...and know it is enough! I chose secretor cuz it just seems easier ! |

Shells, I went through a similar thought thread a few days ago. "I'm quitting the BTD. It's too much trouble. I want to be able to spend 1/2 an hour in the kitchen instead of 1 1/2 hours. This stinks." But then it passed after I ate. Eat the wrong foods for a couple of days and you'll be convinced that it's worth the trouble. I've been a lot more content being an A-nonnie now that I can have tomatoes. That's what was killing me before, not being able to eat pasta at all. Nobody else in the fam will eat tomatoes, but I will spend extra time in the kitchen fixing pasta for myself. I was pretty frustrated eating the A-sec diet for 1 1/2 years. I'm entirely happy now that all the cravings are worked out of my system. |

I picked A secretor. I like being an A because I was already vegetarian before I found out my blood type, so it just worked out. I do miss dairy, basically milk...and ice cream. But I'm slipping Mozzerella cheese and yogurt in sometimes. So, maybe being a B would be fun, too. But I don't think I'd be very happy as an O. |

O nonnies can eat avocados....case closed. B's can eat dairy!!!! A's can be vegetarian. l was before I met the BTD. AB's have a pretty wide range. But as an O sec I am grateful for rice, goat cheese, bananas and am starting to love meat. |

I love life as an O nonnie, but I voted B secretor for several reasons. I love the mind-body connection expressed in Type Bs. Also, I love the exercise recommendations--hiking and cycling and involving others. As for food choices, B secretors seem to have a good range of variety in their diet. Lastly, this line from LR4YT sticks out: "If I were to generalize, I would say that a healthy Type B, living right for his or her type, tends to have fewer risk factors for disease and tends to be more physically fit and mentally balanced than any of the other blood types" (p.240). |

My mother is a blood type B and at 85 is active and bright and has always catered to her diet. She raised her little blood type A daughter (me) to drink milk every day, love cheese, roast beef and potatoes. Surprisingly, I was a healthy kid generally (maybe a picky eater), thin and bright. Unfortunately, I have psoriatic arthritis and last year at this time had trouble walking and couldn't wring out a cloth . After being on the BTD I am much better. Cross-country skiid last year (yippee!). I had the most problems after I married an O , who likes to cook. If I was a B , I would probably not have these problems. It is much easier for my mother to eat out and find prepared foods. Life as a B would be easier in this North American society. My husband and mother enjoy eating roast beef together! It is best to be the same blood type as the person who cooks the most for you. Mostly I cook for me (haha). |

chris b mentioned that hiking and cycling were recommended for B, but I seriously thought that those were recommended for O in the stress protocols, am I right or wrong? did something change? I thought that b was walking and chanting. O's being swimming, running, and cycling. |

BTD brings out the cook in each and everyone of us!!
Lola, I soo agree with this. I am currently in transition and living with family. My aunt and I discuss the BTD often, and she is amazed at how many foods (not fresh but manufactured) contain ingredients that are not good for anyone. As I explained to her, the biggest issue with people embracing the BTD is there stubbornness/unwillingness to let get of things that are not good for them. This is why people have clutter issues (fear of letting go). What they should realize is another BTDer says, the Diet is not Restrictive but Expansive. We have such a bounty of foods from which to choose. My aunt is O+ with a thyroid condition (can't do soy products). She knows how excited I am about setting up my next space as there will be much cooking going on. The BTD has made me a better and more conscious cook. There is so much to learn and have fun experimenting with. I love being a Blood Type A. It is what nature intended, and it is not good to try to fool Mother Nature. Enjoy Your Type!! |

clutter issues (fear of letting go) is synonymous of agglutination in a blood test analysis!!! slow food as opposed to fast food........BTD is the 'mother of the slow food movement'!! |

I could only give 7 options - so AB wasn't broken out into secretor status.

I just found out I'm an A secretor and I am happy. I am a vegetarian and this is the ideal diet for this type. If I was an A non-secretor all the soy food I eat would only be neutral. As a secretor it is beneficial. |

hmm, I dont miss sugar itself, but it sure would make life easier being able to grab some organic dark chocolate *and a coffee* being a B sec. That is what i would change..oh, and some wheaty french pastries would be pretty awesome also it is being an addict of the kitchen that is hardest, esp when out travelling an' workin'. (cause i LOVE prepping my own food, but not always easy or quick when you are *in-a-hurry*) |

I'm pretty happy with my B-ness. I'm still waiting for my secretor results but have reason to believe I'm a nonnie so, yes, the no sugar is a bummer--but agave syrup and a little ingenuity will save my sweet tooth! And it will be nice to have tomatoes back (not that I ever really let them leave). A little bummed about the no cheddar but Colby's no chump. The downgrade of some beneficials to neutrals kind of stinks too. I've made some of them staples in my diet and now they're just neutral! They'll still work for the family, though, until I convince them to do the secretor test (and my daughter's old enough to be expected to provide controlled spit in a vial). All in all, though, the balanced B is where it's at! |

If you have not determined your GenoType, you might want to determine if you are a teacher. Teachers get lots of cheeses! Even explorers and warriors get some cheeses. Lots of other types of pasta available to those who cannot tolerate wheat. Whole grain spelt pasta tastes a lot like whole wheat pasta for those that can tolerate spelt (It is neutral for As). |

Sml, I'm "allergic" to wheat, or at least I have been for years. After being on the Warrior diet for several months, I tried a little whole wheat wrap and nothing happened. I've been successfully eating a wrap nearly every day with ZERO side affects that I used to have. I think the Warrior diet has healed me. I used to also be allergic to dairy, but being on the GTD and with the addition of ghee into my diet, I can now tolerate a little dairy. It's worth finding out what your genotype is and seeing if you can have these formerly no-no foods once again. I'm still in disbelief, but I'm sure lovin' it! |

Very nearly. I eat probably a little more cashews than allowed, and I eat yogurt almost every day, which I think is more than recommended. I don't eat any beans at all because they tear up the baby's stomach (I do eat lentils). I eat a little white pepper, which I assume to be neutral. I'd call that pretty compliant. Oh, and once in a blue moon I'll eat black olives. That's it. I think I'm doing very well. I'd say at least 95% of my diet is diamonds, and the others are beneficial or neutral except the black olives. I really don't eat hardly any neutrals even. I tend to forget about them because they're not listed. Oh yes, and sometimes a little millet slips in when I pop a bite of somebody else's biscuit. |

I'm quite happy with being an O, lots of nice yummy fats though for versatility with what one can 'eat' (not concerning immune system or anything) I'd probably go for a B secretor as they can THRIVE on the widest range of food groups. Lucky buggers, lol. |

Me too, it was such a buzz finding out that Warrior could use whole wheat after 6 years eating refined flour, and I am now better than ever. |

I always did better on whole wheat. Years ago, I cured my IBS eating Bran For Life Bread. |

Ribbit, I never experienced a problem with wheat but dutifully gave up wholewheat on the A diet for many years; now that I am eating it with a clear conscience I am very happy, as I was brought up an an 'Oslo' child (for those who don't remember that was when the notion of wholemeal bread was being promoted over white bread.) The only thing really wrong with my childhood eating was far too much meat--in Australia, post 2nd world war, there was plenty of meat and we had some at every meal. But I also had homegrown organic food for many years, so I was very fortunate, and very healthy. It's only been in the past 10 years that I have had any health issues, and fortunately, found the BTD and GTD quite soon into that period. So now I am having a 2nd childhood, and as one of my children says, acting like a teenager.(well, not in all ways) |

I feel like a child again too in some ways. I told my parents after I first went on the BTD, "I feel good. Can you believe it--I feel good!" My mom said, "You know, I think that's the first time in your life I've ever heard you say you felt good." I feel better now than I did when I was 6. Certainly better than when I was 16. |

I took Dr. D's advice and I'm eating whole wheat again also..I feel like I'm cheating.. How long does this detoxing go on for? years? I'm being impatient. Does anyone notice changes on a spiritual level from the diet? |

I feel like I care more about people, if that counts. People don't irritate me as much. I'd call that "spiritual" kind of. |

I'm pretty happy with my B-ness. All in all, though, the balanced B is where it's at!
I'm suprised more people didn't choose B since we are the most omnivorous. You don't have to give up any entire food group. |

I would choose to remain an "A" but would prefer to be a secretor instead a non-secretor. I'd rather have corn and sugar then tomatoes and bananas I'm perfectly content being an herbavore |

Man, a B secretor, "Oh I want to eat something beneficial, I think I'll have a glass of milk". That would be great. O nons has to be the worst. "How about a beer with that, thats OK", come on B sec, your lucky. |

Well, it's too bad that I can't eat wheat. I've still got a couple hundred pounds left from when we started the BTD! It's back in NH though. We were living on family property and to my knowledge it's still there... so long as the bug haven't gotten to it! My husband, an A, can not handle any kind of wheat or white flour so I know he's not a warrior. I don't know what his GTD would be. I borrowed my copy of the book from the library and the whole thing was so incredibly confusing to me that I can't even remember all the names of each diet. I just know mine and wrote down the foods that I could have. With that, I had a question: Are there any A's out there who can have sweet potato on the GTD? Or banana's? Leanne! |

Well, I know this isn't the answer you were looking for....I'm not supposed to have them on the GTD, but on the A nonnie BTD list, they were fine. And they don't bother me. I know I'm supposed to avoid them now, but if I eat them they do not bother me at all. That being said....I haven't tried either of them since I started the GTD, but at least I can say that before, when I ate them, I was happy with them. |

I chose A sec because I really loved it. With a few minor exceptions, it was just right for me. And once I gave up some of the foods that I ate a lot of and felt SO much better, I did not really miss them. Now eating Teacher diet (and gluten free) things are even better, love many of the foods on my superfoods list. And I realized the other day, that even though I went into the BTD for health reasons and not to lose weight, I've lost 30 lbs in 2 years. And it just keeps slowly dropping off. I am in the lower part of my 'ideal' range now, and for the first time in my life my body is going to be able to find where it wants to be and hang out there. That has been a really nice 'side effect' of this way of eating for me. Yup, I do like the BTD/GTD that I am! |

OMG! Gumby that is fantastic! I'm so jealous! Great job! Have you increased your exercise?
The short answer is in a way I have, as I am way more active now. That has come with feeling better. I don't do formal exercise, but I walk a lot and do other things in a non-intense, relaxed kind of way. (cycling, kayaking, swimming, yoga, etc.) But no schedule, and as little pressure on myself as possible. I try and make it more organic and instinctive. When I started the diet in fall06, I felt like I had plateaued with my recovery from several years of cancer treatment/surgeries etc, but I was still not functioning very well. Changing my diet made all my rehab work start to actually work for me again. The journey continues... One of the things I most loved about the A diet was the exercise info in LR. I was FINALLY able to let go of the "if I don't sweat intensely for enough time it is not exercise and it is not enough" mentality that I had been hanging onto...and beating myself up with...for years. What a relief! Walking, whatever speed I felt like, stopping to visit, smell flowers, look at the view, pat dogs...it was a whole new world. And stretching and doing light exercises to continue my rehab...nice. That was another thing that made me LOVE being an A. |

Boy, I'm right there with you, Gumby. I'm not going to exercise for the sake of exercise. It's just not going to happen. It seems like such a waste of time to me. I'll work in my garden and get exercise, but then I have something to show for it. I'll go for a walk to get outside, but then I'm refreshed by the air and sunshine. I'll do deep breathing to relax, but ... to exercise for the sake of exercise? No thanks. There's got to be a purpose for me to bother. |

If I could choose I would love to be a Teacher. My personality is more of teacher & Im also studying teaching, plus I love coffee, cheeses and peanut butter. Im even thinking of getting my blood type completely retested just in case like when Ron found out he was something else. Right now I just wish we could all just eat exactly what we wanted without having to worry about diseases, or how it would make us feel or worry about weight or anything - just complete freedom in trusting what our bodies tell us to eat. |

I'm and A and I LIKE exercise, there I said it, just like they do in AA . I haven't figured out what my geno type is, I have read the profiles and I'm trying to figure out where I fit. I haven't read the book yet, I supposed I could stop by the library and see if they have it, maybe tomorrow. I thought I might be a teacher, but I don't really fit the profile, I'm not short, I have curly hair and I have no whorls for fingerprints. None of the others seem a perfect fit either, I know for sure I am not a gatherer--I'm way too thin and have a high metabolism. I'd choose something that would allow me to have lots of cheese . |

Hey nowishow, I grew up on Burnside Road (back in the day when it was apple orchards), very fond memories of that place, went to Twin Hills Union School.
Yea, I'm going to get the book as soon as I get a real paycheck, work has been WAY TOO SLOW! |

I'm too used to being an O and I've aquired a taste for the foods that are already good for me. I honestly can't even imagine being a B. Yeah, it would be nice to have all those dairy products back into my diet, but I'd miss the variety of meats and fruits I can currently have!
If I could choose secretor or non-secretor, I'm not sure. I'd love to be able to re-introduce coconut oil and avocadoes, but then again it would be nice to have sugar and honey and apple cider vinegar and vanilla and all those other goodies that I only eat minimally right now. |

B secretor is what I am, and I feel great about it. Wide choices and solid health prospects -- except for the "weird" stuff. But weird suits us B's to a tee. Weird and wonderful!! |

It would be easier if my husband (an 0) and I were the same BT but I don't have a problem with being a B. Actually, I think it offers the best food choices. Aside from giving up crab, shrimp and lobster |

Well I still pick B secretor- but I must admit I am happy about my new meatlist as a swami explorer ; beef, veal and turkey are superfoods or diamonds - a lot easier than just the weid B meat. AND chocolate is a diamond -I must be in heaven |

I have no idea if I'm a secretor or a non-secretor..... I'm still waiting for my test, but I'm hoping it's Secretor.
Other than that I adore my blood type and probably would have cried if I found out I was any other because of how much I love my red meat. |

I am new to this forum and this diet. As you can see I am AB negative non secretor. Am I as rare as they say I am? I guess the diet is not that bad just a matter of learning new recipes. I am fighting cancer so hopefully with the grace of GOD and this new life style I will live a longer than what the doctors are thinking. Would be interested in chatting with anyone who is going thru the same thing and how this diet is working or not working. I have decided for the moment not to do more chemo. Had 40 radiation treatments and doing chemo at the same time. Finished that in June and now have a new spot on my long positive and they want me to do more chemo have not made a decision yet about that am waiting till after the holidays. Giving this diet a chance to see what if any changes have accured.
Had ovarian cancer in 98 stage 3 did chemo 2001 had to do another year of chemo and now in 2009. MY ovarian cancer metastisized to my sternum and had cancer on the left side of my neck(lymphnodes)and left tonsil this is where I received my radiation which now this has moved to my lung. So much for all that radiation. The radiation has really messed up my eating, talking, and swallowing habits not to mention always feeling like I have a stuffed up nose all the time.
I am also taking supplements so this is where I am at. I have a very strong Faith in God and know He will be with me no matter what the out come. So this is where I am at, at this stage in my life. Nice to meet you all. |

Certainly!! Sorry to hear the difficulties you are enduring regarding your health, but your words indicate that your spirit is shining through and you have certainly come to the right spot to embark in a journey that will, definitely lead you to better status of health, naturally. Is there any possibility that you could see Dr D, arrange an appointment and get his direct advice? If not, have you checked the cancer protocols on line and or read and follow the 'Cancer, fight It with the Blood Type diet' book? Also, as Lola suggested, have you worked out what your Genotype may be? We are all sending lots of positive energy your way and will provide as much helpful information as we can. Let us know what you want to know and you will get lots of helpful people from all over the world to answer. Here is to a speedy recovery and welcome to the forum! |

AB negatives are considered 'royalty' by another one on this forum. So for you to be also a nonnie makes you head of the UN - probably better. Being a Proverbs 31 woman makes you tired!! Welcome aboard! |

I'm A+ (no idea yet about the whole A1, A2, or Lewis type yet, no idea to go about it really) and most importantly NON-secretor. I would *LOVE* to be a B secretor, heck even an A or O secretor would be better than being a NON-secretor anything. Can you tell I'm miserable? |

I am A+ non secretor. I am very healthy overall, and i like it that A's can have coffee and red wine. I wonder what it would be like to be me but as another blood type. I
As an explorer, i can exercise like an O. It levels me out and detoxifies me.
Perhaps being a secretor would be easier. |

Yeah, being an A non secretor means i need to be extra aware of how i treat my body, Luckily, i like to exercise and eat pretty healthy overall. I used to smoke cigarettes in college, but quit for good! I do not drink excessively. A's are most sensitve overall it seems, and so are nonnies!
It seems like O secretors probably would be the most durable blood type. I am tough, but very sensitive to chemicals and the like. I even need to watch medicines i take so that it doesn't hit me too hard or have unexpected or even opposite effects.

I chose exactly what I am. A positive/secretor I don't understand why O and B are the most popular? Why are they better than an A? I must be missing a health link? |

Lola, thanks for those...I have actually read and seen them before. I realize type A's are more prone to cancer...but we have the most flavorful food! We have the best forms of exercise! We have good metabolism! We enjoy and benefit from nature and spirituality! Aside from not getting to eat wonderful European breads, I think type A is pretty darn good! (Yes, I have become one with my blood type... ) |

I am a B and it's so nice, I have to say. I went off salt, dairy and fruit for a week and a half, just to see what would happen (a trainer recommended it). What a train reck for me - I had NO energy for my work outs, got extremely constipated and broke out with acne! YUCK! As soon as I went back to my BT diet (sans salt and less fruit than before), I dropped two pounds. AND I started feeling better in my work outs. |

I like being A+. I came to appreciate my blood type since almost all chimpanzees and bonobos have this blood type...i know it isn't human A, but they are 98. something percent genetically the same as humans! They also hold diets with only about 5 percent meat, with the rest being vegatarian. The rest of chimpanzees are O. I watched some you tube videos of chimps and bonobos and felt proud I really have come to think that the O gene became much more pronounced as humans evolved and began to eat much more meat from hunting as they came down from the trees. |

B nonnies can have tomatoes, which secretors can't. I suspect DS is a secretor because of how horribly he acts when he eats tomatoes. B secretors can have white wheat flour, which B nonnies can't. But both can have spelt, and many B secretors find they can't tolerate wheat anyway, even though it's supposively neutral. |

I read in a book called Among the Great Apes that human beings can in fact recieve one blood transfusion from a chimpanzee with no problems, but no more than one w/o antibodies developing. This cannot be done with organs or gorillas. |

From hospital records...i needed blood after breaking my femur and pelvis, and was in shock from blood loss. Received O- blood units at the ER immediately, then units of A2+ blood were given with surgeries. |

Important to remember when "choosing a bloodtype" is: You're not only adopting new dietary parameters; you're also taking on whatever energy-type / "personality" / temperament goes with it.
There are things I really like about the O diet, for instance. But I wouldn't do well with it unless I had the O drive and energy-level that go with it; I like the B - what shall we call it - mindset too much.
I think this goes to show that blood type (or genotype, if that's your thang) is very deeply rooted, and that we are complex creatures, wherein organic connections exist between systems... |

If I could choose, just for the food, it would be type A. I loved being a vegetarian. But I'm not in love with their risks for cancer and diabetes, etc.
So I chose O secretor, which is what I am... |

I go years without so much as a thought of peanut butter. Then I have a taste of it and I say, God is really cool, for thinking up this flavor! So, for a day or so, I'll be into peanuts/peanut butter...until I forget again. |

I choose the Blood type that I already Am because it's rare no one wants to be AB. I hate the foods that I have to give up but it's okay if I can start feeling healthier. I can't eat anything right now without getting sick.. I've given up all soda's started drinking herbal tea's and more Water. Haven't completely stopped all my Avoids for my blood type yet but am doing it slowly. |
