The Los Angeles Times printed an article today regarding a Sylene stenophylla plant that was regenerated from tissue of fossilized fruit. It was found in a squirrel burrow stuck in a Siberian permafrost for over 30,000 years! Russian scientists say it is the oldest plant ever to be regenerated and it is fertile, producing white flowers and viable seeds! This news story states bacteria has survived like this for thousands of years but a complex plant life form is "like generating a dinosaur from an ancient egg." The Associated Press showed a picture of the plant. It looked much like a dainty periwinkle. So, was this before the B type Nomads? Would the O and A Explorers be that far north at that time? |

On that note did anyone see the update on Otzi, the 5,300 year old iceman? He had brown eyes and hair and was blodd type O. His current relatives are living in Corsica and Sardinia. Even though he was active he had hardening of the arteries, Lyme disease (2/3 of the bacteria genome) and was lactose intolerant! Lots of info! |
