I'm presuming that they didn't drug these pregnant moms randomly, but medicated them for pre-existing medical problems. There's no control group of women with seizure disorders who were not medicated, or of healthy women who were medicated (neither one of those would be ethical, would they?)
There's really no way to know whether the medication induced these fingerprint changes, or if the underlying medical condition induced these changes.
