"These findings strengthen the relationship between inflammation, obesity and diet and provide evidence at the most basic level of healthy effects derived from virgin olive oil consumption in humans."

I am never without it. Good for the outside of the body, too. |

I have to wonder how much healthier these patients would have been if the Os and Bs had been placed on a low or moderate carb diet, rather than the low fat, high carb diet they were all put on. |

I know I eat WAY too much olive oil..... but if I don't, then I end up eating bad things... so I figure if I eat a lot of romaine with olive oil as a staple then it's better than diving in the pantry for chips! thoughts? |

I agree SherriBerry. Better too much of a good thing than some of a bad. I ingest quite a bit of olive oil as well. Skinny as I am, I might just be skin and bones without the added fat. |

This is just a personal observation, but when I'm feeling cloudy and foggy minded, I take oil olive by the spoon fulls and I feel amazing within hours. I don't know what it does or why it happens like that, but it's my new go-to for helping me think! |

I agree that it's better to over-eat beneficial foods than it is to eat even small amounts of avoids. |

Hi Lizzie! Try different brands- they all taste different! And Greek taste different from Italian, too! It's a exactly like wine! The best ones don't feel as thick in your mouth and have a peppery taste, so much so that I put these on my salads especially for the taste! They will not be cheap though Beware that Tesco changed their bottle for their own brand Extra Virgin to plastic!!!! AVOID!!! |

Can you suggest any brands that you prefer? I've only tried Italian ones before. Thought they all tasted the same ...

Nutritionally, all Extra Virgin olive oils are about the same. If you see a bottle that says "pure" olive oil, then it's a lower grade that's less nutritious and possibly more highly processed. "Light" olive oil is definitely more refined and less nutritious. |
