I am sorry but as a former medical social worker and having been pre-med and a biology major during my undergrad, the USDA and British Dietetic Association place POLITICS before health! IF the American and British guidelines were so accurate, people who not be dealing with obesity, diabetes, heart issues, and other illnesses! I have had my own health issues where I did enough research to know more than my doctors (sadly!). I have the research background along with academic credentials so I do not appreciate some "medical" expert trying to out-debate me with political rhetoric. All I can say is they are lucky that me and my group of grad students are not publishing articles on food, diet, and politics, YET. The BTD saved my life and my livelihood and I have not even been on this diet for a full week. I went cold turkey (against the Dr. D's advice) but I don't think I can ever get off the BTD. The medical industry has created a "gang" of technicians who only focus on their area of specialization. Other than their area of specialization, they do not know the rest of the body. As a result, they prescribe rx for their area of specialization without caring what it does to the rest of the body! When I was hospitalized for three days with pneumonia, my doctor gave me too much in steroids so I developed diabetes for about half a day. It was NOT fun swelling up and getting sicker. After I got out of the hospital, she put me on more steroids and antibiotics and told me to keep eating ice cream! Uhmmm that fed my yeast infection and made me sick! I had yeast in my sinus cavities and other places which would not go away. She told me I was underweight so I should eat anything and everything I wanted - even sticks of butter, if that is what I was craving! I am so over institutionalized medicine. Everyone should be entitled to informed decision making. I can only imagine what would happen with people who do not have access to money, education, etc. and what sort of B.S. their doctors would feed them! Lower income people do not even have access to the foods on the BTD because they don't even have grocery stores in their area that sell produce.

I apologize for the rant but I am so sick of the medical field and their "holier than thou" and "know it all" attitude!

^ The above is really sad and scary. Not to mention that a former Monsanto excutive is a chief adviser to the FDA. Thanks for the link, I've bookmarked it. I may only be one of the little guys, but well informed is well armed. I'm trying to inform myself. It's a full time job, though. |

You left out the part were they are lying because you have never recommended an exclusion of any particular food group only selective choices within each food group and portions. |

The BTD and GTD diet does not exclude any food groups! I saw similar reviews about the diets online and wanted to post responses except you can't do that for WebMD and sites like that. UGH. |

passionprincess, glad you joined this passionate group of BT/GT followers..... enjoy the ride and the discovery! I have two medical kids, but they both know the difference, and will most certainly treat their patients as individual beings |

Thank you! I get irked because a lot of people in the medical field think that if one does not have the M.D. next to their name, the research is moot. I have friends who are medical doctors with the worst diets! . It is the same in academia, though. If one does not have the degree (Ph.D.) next to his/her name, their opinions are not as valued. Oh, then, they get snobbier with school rankings and such! I hope people will become more open-minded in the future. Have a good one!

OH Please send me what you write.. I am not able to do so with the proper authority.. buT I would forward such writings to my local paper.or tv .. if we all did that often enough we would make a difference.. I think one thing we should create.. is on insurance pool for alternative health care clients.. I wonder what would happen by the mear threat of it.. I am a healthcare person in a different field, and I have offered my help recently to a woman whos ankles are 9 incheds in diameter. l offered to help her at no cost all she had to do is show up.. she said yes and then never showed up.. I could have had her get rid of all that fluid in less than two weeks.. no drugs no food changes.. just prper treatments moving her fluids .. but she muct have spoken to some one and then got scared.. its the people that are scaring me.. the ignorance is immense.. and MD's are still gods.. and make a lot of money..doing what the public wishes.. quick fixes.. Did you see this.. http://www.dadamo.com/B2blogs/blogs/index.php/2011/02/22/deep-vein-thrombosis-in-type-o?blog=27 |

Or possibly that any significant alteration to the status quo would hurt the precious ecomomy which is probably the primary consideration anyway. |

Thanks a lot Symbi for sharing this website. The day is not far away when the socalled mainstream medical practice will give way to more authentic and grounded approach to health and medical conditions. As one proverb says, "the test of pudding lies in eating!" |

oh, i definitely will, goldie! thanks for the encouragement. sadly, we grad students can't be too much of an "activist" or we risk not getting hired as professors! i am saving my "provocative" articles for a later time. i was pre-med and have enough experience in this field to know that dr. d'adamo is on to something major. it is great to see the more open-minded physicians supporting dr. d'adamo's findings.

The deep vein thrombosis article is fascinating! I knew lemon juice had curative properties but I did not know to what extent... this is great! I can't wait to explore Dr. D's blog a bit more. |
