Last night I felt like I was coming down with the flu.  I felt wrong in the stomach, like sort of nauseous and pain, chills and hot fluctuate and such.  And there has been a lot of sickness going around.  But the couple times I checked my temp, no fever.

Then I got to thinking, is it possible I'm herxing?  Two things made me think this.  First off, I always have a teaspoon of honey with my oatmeal or rice every day and about 5 days ago I ran out and haven't added it since.  And I did notice that in the morning my mouth felt a little cleaner because I know the yeast has sort of reared up a little again.  Because I had some antibiotics over Christmas from my kidney stone episode.  And other drugs too of course.

Also, we are having a big warm up the last two days.  It went from like 5-15 degrees to almost 40 degrees in one day.  In the past a warm up sometimes makes a shift in my body.  Even though you keep your thermostat at the same temp, it's still warmer overall in the house.

Either that or I have the flu and just haven't spiked a fever yet.  I'd rather have it be die off though.

I just figured I'd throw it out there and see if you all think that cutting out a teaspoon of honey could make enough of an impact to start herxing. I suppose it's possible as I'm so sensitive in many ways.

Feel strong and think positive, JJR. You just may have the flu on the ropes.

Eat beneficials, drink plenty of fluids, take good care of yourself and don't over think this. Your mind
can play tricks on you....I doubt there is a connection between withdrawing one teaspoon of honey and your symptoms....and my gut instinct is that withdrawing a tiny bit of one food doesn't initiate a herx.  I think we all have good days, some great days, and often some bad days during our entire healing process....If people
around you have been sick, focus on strengthening your immune system. -- ,might help your immune system to get more sleep.......{{{{{hugs}}}}

about herxing..

I think I'd try taking a bath in Epsom salt.

Herxing can sometimes pop up with no apparent reason- that whatever you've been doing for weeks or months finally tips the body into "cleanup mode." Certainly any actual change, such as cutting out added sweeteners, could also trigger a herx.

I don't think it was the flu.  My body has seemed to calm down some.  I've been fighting a cold for a couiple of weeks too though, and it could be my body trying to get rid of it.  Just head congestion.

I don't know.  All I know is that in the past when we get these temp swings, it can upset the applecart.  And even small changes in inputs, like honey, I think can make a difference.  How much?  I don't know.

Glad to hear your body has calmed down now.  Perhaps weather changes, especially barometric
pressure is why you felt "off"... Sensitive individuals often feel badly during low pressure systems. It happens to me pretty often.  My osteopath has told me a way to equalize low barometric pressure influences in your body is to get into a tub and just soak for awhile.  You could just as well go into a swimming pool, lake or ocean if it were available....but the water pressure against your body helps to make you feel more balanced.  You could always add Epsom salts if you like.

Feel well.

Going from a windchill of zero a few days ago to eighty degrees nearly threw me for a loop. My son was mentioning how hot and muggy it was one day and it was only 59 degrees! Eighty was enough to almost make a person feel sick after such cold weather. Hope you soon feel better.

Thanks for the discussion everyone.  One of the issues for me is it's easy for me to get caught up in the minutia of the "why".  And sometimes I feel like I'm over complicating everything.  However, dealing with a chronic disease like lyme disease IS complicated.  So many small inputs can make a large difference in health.

I'm learning to relax about it all and not get wrapped around the axle about it.  And to some degree it's working.  But I probably have a long way to go into learning how to endure gracefully the changes.

Anyways...  it's nice to have caring people to talk to.  Thank you.
