When dealing with people who have had their Large Bowel removed, what things should be considered when advising a change in diet?

Are you asking for a specific person? If yes, has the operation already taken place?

Obviously, as 75% of the immune system is in the gut.

Does she follow BTD?  I regard full compliance as a passport (well, before EU)

Small meals and least fiber possible, hence veggie juices, small quantities.

No onions, no hot spices whatsoever, very little salt.

Essential enzymes, probiotics/Polyflora, Deflect, Fucus Plus, all become vital and crucial. Also Live Cell, when she can take it.

Catechol (I am no health practitioner but I think x3 daily) is essential for both recovery and maintenance. She must have become at least 10 times more sensitive than before the op. She'll probably like it very much.

I strongly recommend medicinal mushrooms, which naturally have be chosen individually according to condition.

Was is total collectomy or hemicollectomy?

Onions are too heavy for the traumatized intestines to digest and may act as irritants.

About salt, this has to do with the water system, which is also traumatized by the op. People after collectomy have a shorter colon and get dehydrated much faster, and therefore have to watch more carefully for their hydration. Salt always draws water and may create a problem. Less salt moderates this.

Mom had it.. lived happy for ten years.. to 91...

eat nothing gassy.. follow BTD all is well.. mom ate all she could or would.. she could eat kake and tell me the next day that she had not any for a long time haha  she loved life, she loved living, she fell in love with a care giver, a young boy (man).. Mom sang songs and remembered the words until minutes before the end.

I wrote on what other things are more important.. there are many things  I wish I had learned for care giving.  like sunshine is not near as bright and annoying as is a sky with gray haze - for when one lies down during the day and the light shines in your eyes.

A quiet small fan in the window helps ..   all the best..

Being here is invaluable, but not enough. We need ALL the Doctors. I needed them for a very small cancer spot-I could never feel!!! Please do your mammograms! Doing so saved me from cancer later on. I am grateful! Thanks for learning from my experience! I was lucky! I wish the same for YOU!
