Although coconut oil is not recommended, I've seen reports that it can help with Parkinson's or other neurodegenerative disease (getting energy into cells "by the back door" so to speak).  How negative is it, vs. possible targeted health benefit?  Any experiences?  Anything else work?  Ribose?  At 94, Dad would try most anything that's not actual poison, to deal with the fatigue aspects of the disease.  HIs dietary compliance is generally excellent to good.

The Blood Type rating for coconut oil is dramatically different than the the rating for The Genotype Diet.  I would recommend either checking out The Genotype Diet or getting a SWAMI Xpress for your dad to see what the rating for coconut oil specifically for him.

I think the Trehalose Complex would help greatly.  It has the Trehalose sugar which stimulates internal cellular cleaning, Ribose sugar that provides cellular energy, and modified citrus pectin to aid in removal of waste from the cells.

Coconut oil isn't one size fits all.  It's good for me and I'm a Teacher, but if an A person is a Warrior,
not the best option.  Might be in need of another fat.....fish oil, GLA or possibly CLA.  Depends on
genotype as ABJoe pointed out.

Consider magnesium deficiency for Parkinson's.

I'd suggest getting  a SWAMI for him, to better identify his personal "healing foods" and which foods he's best off avoiding.

Many people do get coconut oil as a beneficial or a diamond. If he's one of them, then coconut oil would do him a lot of good. If it's neutral, it can't hurt but it's unlikely to do much for him. If it's a black dot or an avoid, stay away.

Thanks all, and he takes a lot of magnesium citrate (also turmeric), has for years.  I think he is a teacher, but have not done all the measurements, just a guesstimate.  And he is a teacher/minister--runs three book groups at 94!  More sinewy than a typical late life warrior.

Remember that there are certain foods that may be avoids, but if one has a disease, they are good for the person. Lima beans for type A are written about in one of Dr. D's books.
