They will be useful as the info/diet is more specifically structured for that specific issue. Also, the protocols may prove valuable. |

I don't use the books, sorry. I go to Dr. D and get a personalized diet. It's the best option and worth it. |

There's always the SWAMI, which is the next best thing to seeing Dr. D in person. I had awfully painful arthritis when I was your age. Following the diet, which at the time was BTD for non-secretors, really helped a lot. Then later I moved on to the Genotype Diet and after a few years, on to the SWAMI. Each successive plan worked better and better for me, as more personalized. I plateaued at some point and finally realized that I had to give up all gluten, all nightshade vegetables and all cow dairy (except for ghee). All my arthritis symptoms are 98% gone. It was a process, not an instant fix. Oh, and I follow my diet 100%, and have for more than a decade. That's what it takes for me, as a non-secretor. Not everyone is on that high a level of compliance. The menopause issues are another topic for longer discussion. (So, you got relocated in Oregon? ) |

How long have you been following SWAMI? For the first month or two, I had an adjustment period where I had more pain than I had been having on GTD. As toxins are removed from the body, they can cause pain just as when first ingested... |

Blues singer.. you have been here for a while, and if you stayed on the BTD of any book, then you have had the best diet to eliminate arthritis IF you stay away from grains..
Any bread will increase pain near instantly and get progressively worse. Dairy added will mess with your intestines also...
The two books are good, but you will find they are similar except for the suggestions on supplements. I have been on all the diets including Swami, and it all comes down to eating according to any book. For me eliminating grains, and near any starches, is a must. Staying on Super Beneficials or Beneficicals helps greatly. I include few neutrals, as I do not like to many.
As for Hot flashes, I have tried all many supps to no avail. I am about to ask my doctor for hormones / I had them for 18 years, nearly hourly, and it gets tiresome.

For pain you might look to find a chiro doctor who uses a ZYTO hand to test for mineral needs. One that really worked for me and many others is a Standard Process Ligaplex ii available by chiros.. When you get them, take them as often as the pain comes back.. The first few month it will be much more but then the need will lesson and be cut way back..
That helped me more than any thing else. in on hour after taking two at a time and or three for bed time. |

Gluten, dairy and all nightshades do terrible things to arthritis. SWAMI does give me bell peppers and red pepper flakes as beneficial and eggplant as neutral and some cheese as well and I completely avoid them. That's what it took for me |

Blue Singer get tested if you didn't jumped merely into a form of adrenal fatigue... it's very similar to menopausal and arthritis symptomatics..... I also thought it was menopausal issues but nope.... wish you good luck from Switzerland |
