My husband has mentioned to me recently that his bladder has frequently been sore in the morning from I guess holding urine in (it does not feel right)? He is a type O+ (mostly gatherer I believe - haven't gotten swami software yet). We were just wondering what are some good foods to prevent this sort of thing like bladder infections from developing. I know vitamin C is one of them. He's been taking that and a probiotic. I tried to find information on this through the search because I don't like inconveincing (can't spell - i hate that word) you lovely people but here I am. He does stick to the diet for the most part. So no wheat, sugar, salt - eats mainly his superfoods. Just seeing if anyone has any other good suggestions or a particular food that helps? I am trying to research this too. I just get overwhelmed by details sometimes so it drains me quickly. Thanks. |

If he has a urinary tract infection, drinking plenty pure water throughout the day and also drinking some cranberry juice should help with the discomfort. The water will flush the toxins out of his tract and cranberry juice has a specific property (not sure what it's called) to kill infection in the urinary tract.
I'm speaking from past experience that lots of water and cranberry juice help tremendously, although there could be an underlying reason why the discomfort is occurring frequently.
I hope he feels better soon. |

Thank you for all the suggestions. Definitely going to purchase those supplements and do the cranberry juice thing and that amino acid. And going to try to get his secretor status done today so we can finally just go ahead and purchase SWAMI for him too.
He was wanting to take something for prostate health too. Not sure what is good. Obviously nothing can replace a healthy diet. Just exploring all the options out there.
Thanks so much! |

I think Saw Palmetto is supposed to help with prostate, but I'm not 100% sure. You could google it. |

Thanks, y'all. I think it was just constipation cramps actually which is what I initially thought because I had confused the two once in the past myself (mistaken constipation cramps for UTI). Anyway, just found out he's a non-secretor which also explains a lot. Thanks again. |

Being a type O myself I have suffered from bladder infections a lot in the past... so I understand the dreadful discomfort and pain I hadn´t heard of methionine being helpful, but now I have learned something new as always ! I found a wonderful very high strength cranberry complex by Kordels (I don´t know if it is available in the U.S.) which seemed to halt any infection in it´s tracks every time...cranberry juice on its own was never strong enough and is usually laden with sugar and sweeteners... Another very useful addition , as well as a compliant diet, would be a good active probiotic...ABO specific if possible.. |

It's interesting that he is an O. When I was losing weight several years ago, I suffered from mystery bladder pain. It was repeatedly tested and found not to be caused by infection. I also had incredibly intense burning of my vulva just after urination so much that I had to use cold compresses until it passed.
Turns out the combination of weight loss (with ketosis) and the increase in high oxalic acid foods (kale, collards, mostly) was the culprit. I cut out the greens, kept losing weight and did fine.
When I eat greens and don't lose weight, they don't bother me at all.
