The Two Pillars behind the Blood Type Diet.
"We have to admit that many varieties of food exert measureable medicinal effects."
"These effects have a great level of interaction with the ABO blood type, due to direct and indirect interactions."
Although they are hardly new, I was struct by these fundamentals when preparing myself to see my GP about new blood pressure related symptoms that I suspect are from supplement vs medication interactions.
Not having a small enough arm, I cannot even get a poor measurement of my blood pressure from a pharmacy machine. |

Paul, it is easy to take your own BP with an inexpensive BP cuff that you can purchase at any good drug store. I don't know if you have a "Walgreens" up there, but I bought a cuff here for $16. that works great and is easy to use. I don't like the machines at stores, it is difficult to get an accurate measurement if you are not sitting and relaxed for at least ten minutes before it is taken. I have heard that this is a good website for info on medications. |

You cannot take your BP on the wrist, you can take your heart rate there, different measurements. |

Andrea .. Thanks for the link,, my siter has a 'at home use' device that goes on the wrist.. It has helped her as she really has white coat issues.. and her pressure rises.. in this way she can take it on her own.. I am sending her the link, so she can read the suggestions on positioning the arm.. |

I appreciate the positive attitude, but the CAD $ 150+ German-manufactured unit I decided to purchase gives impossible readings. When I was 220 lbs, I practically looked like a scarecrow - with boney door-hinge sized wrists. My doctor has to use the large cuff in his office - and has no difficulty doing so. Is there some simple course I could take to be able to use a cuff and a watch? I like technology, but all I have ever used for this purpose fails me. |

Goldie, my apologies. Paul, just buy a regular cuff like you Dr. uses. I'm quite sure you will be able to learn how to use it, if I can do it, you can! The cuff is simply measuring mmHg of pressure. When the cuff is tight around your arm it has cut off the circulation and no blood is flowing through that artery (brachial). As the pressure is lessened and blood starts to flow you will be able to hear it through the stethoscope, at that point the dial of the sphygmomanometer will show a number usually something in the 100s, that is your systolic measure (the one on top). As the pressure continues to let up there will be a point where you can no longer hear your heart beat, when that happens, that number is your diastolic pressure. There are several good videos on youtube also. Here is an example of a BP cuff placement. Sorry about the advertisement in this one! |
