I have receeding gums -- hoping everyone can help me out.
I have to accepted this, however, I am hoping to stop the gums. I brush too hard which I am making changes in my oral hygiene.
Does anyone have any other suggestions on how to make this aspect of my life better? It is really bothering me. TY |

Brush more gently - as you have figured out. Floss daily. Eat no avoids.
There may be other things I am not aware of that are helping to heal the gums as well, but this is all I am doing and my oral health, including receding gums, is getting better. |

I think vitamin C is linked to healthy gums. Try adding rose hips or another compliant high-vitamin C herb to your daily routine.
Make sure you're not using anything too harsh when you brush your teeth. Additives in certain toothpastes can make things worse. There are also herbs you can rinse your mouth with that can help the gums, although I'm not entirely sure which herbs to try or which specific toothpaste additives to avoid. A google search should yield a lot of information. |

Yes, I will try this and thanks for the encouragement that I can still be preventative to some degree. Makes me feel like there is hope |

Be careful Oil Pulling seems to have been the factor that loosened the cap and crown on my root canal.
You might want to look at baking soda as an alternative to glycerine based toothpastes. |

Adding extra Vitamin C certainly helped my gums. I use Sago Palm Vitamin C. VERY gentle brushing with a soft brush is very good for the gums too. I have heard of other people who got help doing this. I use a Sonicare very lightly for about a minute. It is amazing how my gums improved doing these two things. And the proof is in the wonderful exam results I get when I go to the dentist now!! |

Dr D advised Mirrh.. chop it fine and use as tooth brushing substance.. taste is yake but worth buying the smallest amount.. it takes very little..
I use a sonic brush and a electric roundrunning brush .. I think, and a water pick..and Sensodyne.. |

Yikes! Maybe there are degrees of oil pulling!! But I have heard of them coming off sometimes without much of a known reason. |

Dr. D'Adamo also advised to dissolve Vit. B12 tablets in a small amount of water and swish it for a bit. I try to get 10-20 minutes in. |

Floss without fail, every day. I prefer the woven floss varieties and learned to carefully wrap the floss around each tooth, down by the gumline and 'scrape' in the direction of the biting surfaces. This one is wonderful: http://drtungs.com/store/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=5I ditched toothpaste a few years ago, when I learned that glycerine leaves a film on the teeth. And I began to explore other options. I'm really impressed with Uncle Harry's line of toothcare products. They are readily available in natural food stores, or here is their website: http://www.uncleharrys.com/store/index.php/mouth-care-c-48 |

According to my holistic dentist, this happens when there is decay and/or infection under the cap/crown. This decay/infection can cause serious, chronic inflammation, so you might think about this in terms of the fact that the oil pulling was actually working. |

I use the small picks, floss and a rubber tip every single evening without fail. I went from having deep pockets in my gums to having virtually no pockets but it took time and dedication. I also use an electric toothbrush (a plug in one). The cheaper ones can cause problems. |

Look into CoQ10 and foods that nourish the heart. I learned that the gum tissue is very similar to some of the cardiac tissue. |

I agree with the suggestions about gentle brushing and specialized toothpastes or powders that are designed to be kind to one's gums.
I have receding gums over a period of time. I went to the dentist regularly and why they didn't make a point to tell people (especially children and young people) to brush gently I have no earthly idea. They are the professionals and if I heard it enough times I would have listened.
I'm also trying to hold the line on receding gums and trying to keep them from receding any more.
I was told at one point (if cost is not an issue I'm sure) that gum lines can be fixed by a professional dentist that specializes in that area.
So all we can do is keep our gums from getting worse.
I incorporate some of the suggestions here and they are good.

That is interesting. I will give it a go though I'm not sure I'll be lasting 20 minutes I also have this problem - especially on what I call my "Dracula" teeth and have had it filled in by the dentist. I have now gotten used to using a soft toothbrush but still need to remind myself to not brush so hard. |

The only really good thing for temporary or repeated healing of the gums is by using Proxide in lukewarm water and swish it until it bubbles to release the oxygen.. do that twice a day for six weeks then stop for 6 weeks.. as otherwise the tungue will turn brown. |

Retain wheatgrass juice in your mouth for a minimum of five minutes. It helped me a lot. I also stopped drinking an RBC product called HydraCel and that helped me also. |

I also love oil pulling. Really good flossing helps too. Keeping the sugars out completely has helped me a lot and when I do indulge I find my teeth get very coated and plaque happens quickly, too quickly really. I brush with coconut oil and a small bit of baking soda. |

I don't know exactly what helped my gums, but they went from being a concern to the dentist, some of them much more than others, to being normal. I use a Sonicare, and I started brushing my teeth and doing another complete cycle on my gums, lightly, of course, after a friend's son was told to do this by his dentist for gum problems. I think that probably did a lot of good for quick results. But I did follow most of the Antibacterial Protocol at the same time. All that was some time ago, and, even at my age, my gums are still doing well, and I am not doing anything special except staying on my diet and taking my supplements. |

The easiest and cheapest toothpowders are in your very own cupboard. a Whitening version is a teaspoon of each: sea salt, baking soda (NOT powder), and ground sage (drop the sage just for a basic tooth powder) a sensitive version is a teaspoon of salt and baking soda plus a tablespoon arrowroot powder
My son did this to turn around his lack of brushing situation so he could go on his mission for our church alternating the two above with the added essential oil.
I actually add a couple drops of doTerra On guard essential oil to each. I rinse with a drop on guard and 8 oz of water
I am currently trying to the toothpaste. It definitely is different from toothpaste at the store.
Then again I use the On guard a dot on the bottom of my tongue for sore throats as needed or if going to the in laws when I know I will get sick.
I am not being paid to advertise NOR am I selling anything. All I know is these oils are definitely different. I have stated this before.
Good luck |
