I have a friend who grows hair on her face and chest. She also suffers from awful depression when it's been cloudy or rainy. She's extremely over weight as well. Is this a hormone problem? We've told her D3 for the depression but it's like talking to a funnel. You give her the info and it leaks out the moment you voice it. It's like whatever is wrong in her body has given her the inability to think coherently. She's a very intelligent lady. Been to college and seems very learned but can't seem to get past her health issues. Her blood type is A. She's about 5'4" and guessing that she weighs well over 300 pounds. She's shaped like a pear. Not sure what her genotype is. I haven't measured her. Anyone have any ideas about what could help her?

My daughter had some of those problems and we couldn't get them under control until we SWAMI'ed her. In her case, her diet was causing hormonal issues.
Her SWAMI diet is really restricted, but it is helping her - and that is the bottom line. If by restricting her diet, she can get her body under control, she's a happy camper. |

Did she need any supplements or just diet? Was it all organic? This lady has very few resources to work with. She did do the diet for about two weeks and lost 15 pounds. But as we all know you'll lose weight fast then you plateau for a bit before loosing more. She became discouraged and quit. I'll tell her what you all have said and hope she'll try again. Thanks for the respones. |

Often times women after menopause, who are not taking hormones, get some hair on their face and chest. So it could be a hormone imbalance. Women go through menopause at different ages ... some early, some later. |

Food is medicine, and medicine is in food.. we just need to learn more about it.. Would she be willing to give diet a try? ADVISING verbally often does not work, but a book might give her food for thinking. from a library to make it valuable after 2 weeks... Being ovberweight does not mean over suggar'ed.. but if she LIKES or thinks she needs sugary foods, then by all means see if she would like to give Trehalose Complex by Dr D a try.. IT seems to do interesting things IN the brain and maybe even reduce cravings for avoids.. .. Small changes to the good by INCLUDING foods that are Super or Diamond foods will make a difference.. adding Beneficials to her plate might be more then good enough to start with.. have her come here and learn in a post of her own.. with questions she might have (different ones) all the best. |

We have used some supplements to speed the healing. Since she is a full time college student, we wanted to reduce her pain as soon as possible. Mostly the supplements are from DPN to aid digestion and biofilm removal, so nothing that provided major intervention. Organic? No we don't eat all organic. We buy from the supermarket or Sam's Club. If the organic foods are reasonably priced compared to the standard, we buy it, but usually are eating standard produce. She only likes / eats two vegetables, avocados and leaf lettuce. It is hard to buy organic avocados. The only real restriction that we have is that the turkey MUST be natural, ie, no salt brine, basting solution garbage. |

I personally have found the GTD to be more effective than the BTD when it comes to deeper levels of healing and stubborn weight problems. It's worth a try to measure her and get her genotype. It may change the recommended foods enough that she will see quicker benefits. The book may be available at the local library. |

She does have PCOS. She saw a natural path a couple of years back. He said something about too much testosterone. She's only 40. Not going through menopause. |

Being "only 40" doesn't preclude someone from going through any menopausal related condition... If she is hormonally imbalanced, it is quite possible she is peri menopausal... I am pretty sure I started around late 30's & I hadn't had a period for a year, by 43... |

I think she's pretty regular. She had a miscarriage about a year ago. But I do recall her saying that the natural path thought she might be entering menopause early. If so will just doing the diet help her or does she need to take anything else? They have a 4 year old and apparently before he was born she had no depression and good hair. I forgot to mention that. A lot of her hair has fallen out. Now it barely comes to her shoulders and extremely thin. Their daughter has very long thick hair and I was shocked when she told me that was how her hair had been. |

hair falling out is meopause related.. bvut I see it more dramatic.. SAhe may show signs because her hormones are not functioning correctly. Change Doctor and get a second opinion.. Find a Doctor who may know how to administer Bio identical hormones? BUT I think there is more to it ..

i have PCOS and from what i've been told by my OBGYN, people with PCOS typically go into menopause on the late side. my symptoms from this (mostly infertility) seems to go away once i started the BTD. have her stay away from sugar, corn and wheat and see if she starts to feel better. people with PCOS typically are insulin resistence and are on some sort of metformin product. |

just an added note about the thinning hair. my hair ( i felt) was also thinning and nothing seemed to work. recently i have been taking the O multivitamin and my hair feels thicker. i can't afford to take the reccommended amount (4 pills per day) so i just take one in the AM and one in the PM. she might want to give the multi a try...

May be Policystic Ovary syndrome ?
I just wanted to re-quote this because, in my case - my mom had one POS ovary and never had hirsuitism at all.... I have had hirsuitism all my life, though....and only endometriosis at odd times. All my ranges of hormones are considered in "normal" range, so here we go with the Explorer body type anomalies....... |

Too high testosterone can cause facial hair growth and thinning hair on your head. I use bio-identical hormones and these are questions my naturopath always asks. Thinning hair can also be a symptom of low thyroid.
It would be great if she could do a salvia panel for her hormones along with thyroid testing. |
