My knees have been bothering me the past few days. Today I haven't had any problems yet. I'm not always compliant so that probably has something to do with it. I know that type O is more susceptible to arthritis, how about type A? I actually have trouble straightening out my leg at the knee and my knees pop often. Any idea what's wrong with me? |

My knee's used to crack everytime i would bend them when i was around your age. I started to build up the muscle around my knee's to protect and support my knee's. That seemed to help because i haven't had any problems with them cracking since then. Now that i know more about how food affects our bodies (than back then), i'm thinking my diet at that time probably had something to do with it to. |

First, compliance is huge. Second, have you had any knee injuries in the past? Junk settles in injured locations when it isn't being removed quickly, so as you heal, the body may need to pull garbage out of old injuries and finish the healing... Pain from this can come and go depending on a number of factors. |

My knees were so sore 15 years ago that I could not sleep without a pillow under them. I took glucosamine and chondroitin supplement for 2-3 months and have never had a problem with them since then!

not red all the responces.. but the best strength exercise is leaning up against a wall feel one foot away .. holding on to the back of a chair sliding down the wall as far as you can to get into what would be a sitting position.. stay there and slide up rest and do it again for as long as possible.. the muscles over the knee will strengthen and relive stress on both knees..
the other thing I would do if it is bad.. look for PROLO_THERAPY on getprolo.com best treatment of all.. the videos shown are not as it is done in real life.. its painless and patien friendly.. and pain goes away while it strengthens the joint- any joint.. best thing I ever did for my aching joints..

Mickey, how did you build up the muscles? My knees crack quite a bit.
ABjoe, I did have a bit of an injury that I dismissed. I was working in a factory running a very fast line and shifted all my weight to my left leg. I had a shooting pain run up my leg into my area between my lower back and butt. It would hurt again less than that every once in awhile. Needless to say I quit that job. I was getting hurt all the time.
Here's another question, I started doing yoga awhile back but stopped because I was afraid I would hurt my knees more doing things like triangle pose and warrior. Would yoga help my knees or hurt them? |

Goldie, that exercise sounds like a good one. The pain is not bad, just a dull ache with a few stabs of pain every once in awhile. It just concerned me that I'm having trouble so early |

When I was your age, my knees were horrible. They hurt a lot and would swell up intermittently. Finally I discovered that I needed orthotics in my shoes...just plain old arch support. Also, I can't jog or run because it trashes my knees...walking up hills, biking, swimming, all good. |

If it's just been a few days, it could even be a virus. Taking some proberry or elderberry, on top of increased compliance, may be in order.
I had a synovial virus once... no fun, but it went away after a week or two. My knees were especially affected.

besides Prolo therapy -see get prolo.com - I strongly advise the sitting against a wall exercise..
however.. I have a few questions..
did you report the damage done to OSHA? they should be aware..
the other has more to do with the way you explain..
lower back is a big place to start,, but would be my place to start with Prolo Therapy.. painless ..
then down the legs exactly where.. the back.. on the outside of the knee? or on the inside groin and inside of the knee ?
also most important maybe .. how do you sleep/ pillows and the like.. ?
are you wearing shoes wit heeels? I like birken stocks.. not berkies..

I suffered from knee pain and took glucosamine and chondroitin for years before starting BTD. A few weeks in I ran out of my suppliment, but realized after a couple of days that I no longer had any discomfort! Now my knees only bother me if I eat potato, which is an avoid - go figure!!! |

Goldie- I don't think I need prolo. At least I hope not. I didn't officially report anything. I mentioned it to a few people but we were being pressured and yelled at to get products done so I kind of dismissed it. And worked 3 months there maybe more after that. I sleep on my side or stomach. Can't hardly sleep on my back. If I'm on my side and it's cold I fold my knees up. I fold my knees up a lot come to think of it. I'm sitting right now with them folded . Must be a habit. I never wear heels. I used to occasionally but that was several years ago. I have good insoles in my shoes. |

Eating grain, even compliant grains cause pain in my knees, ankles and neck. So for the most part I avoid grains. |

Really, Kitty? I stay away from wheat but I do like rice and cereals like oat granola. |

Yes, even rice hurts my knees and neck. I do eat buckwheat, quinoa, flax and amaranth, since they are seeds and not grains. It is really weird, but I have a healing buffalo hump from weight watchers diet and too much exercise (caused adreanal gland burnout). If I eat the wrong kind of grain it will make the hump (which is almost gone) ache, throb and swell; which in turn moves up the left side of neck and causes a horrible migraine. This is a fairly new development in the last couple of months. Never had this before. Tried a spelt crust pizza crust (homemade) a couple of months, spelt never bothered me in the past and it did the same thing, except added a horrible stomach ache and my face neck and chest flushed very bright red. Weird, don't ya think. |

Mickey, how did you build up the muscles? My knees crack quite a bit.
Rachel, At the time when i was having knee problems i was a member of a gym and did exercises on machines. I did the quad and hamstring curl machines, i think these helped the best. See this link for exercises you can do at home: (they even have an at home version of the quad and hamstring curl) http://www.bigkneepain.com/knee-exercises.html |

My knees are feeling better today. I'm not sure why. I did have tofu the past two nights so maybe that has helped. I think the pizza that I had last thursday (had to have something to eat in town and not much selection unfortunately) might have played a part in it. If that's the case I am definitely going to be more wary of wheat. 4 days of hurting for one meal isn't worth it. Of course it could've been synovial or something else. Hopefully it doesn't come back |
