Don't know if I just ate too much food or it was the pumpkin bread yesterday, but had the worst backache and then bloating, had to lie down for hours.  Then when I went to get up, it felt like something popped just under the rib on the left side.  I have had this struggle with diverticulitis for the last couple of months, but it has been lower on the left.  I had just finished the second round of antib.  and then this.  Does not seem to be an infection, no fever, no diarhea, no nausea.  This morning it has abated considerably, and it makes me think that it was too much food for the inflamed colon.  Does this sound to be right?  Cannot get a hold of the specialist to make an appointment, so will wait til monday.  Think I will stick to broth and soft vegetables for the next several days.  I do appreciate all your thinking.

I would go to a pharmacy and get some fleet items and use them.. to clear the rectum colon area.. trying to leave the material in a s long as possible lying on the side so make sure you are comfortable.. I am not talking about a high enemas, but clearing the way to allow things to move down..  I would do that before I would push more stuff from the top..

the reason you have pockets is that the walls are brittle or stretched and so any pressure from above will just add to things.. clearing on easy path on the left side would be my suggestion.. do it several times gently rather then once harsh..

Being here is invaluable, but not enough. We need ALL the Doctors. I needed them for a very small cancer spot-I could never feel!!! Please do your mammograms! Doing so saved me from cancer later on. I am grateful! Thanks for learning from my experience! I was lucky! I wish the same for YOU!

have a look at this thread, http://www.dadamo.com/cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl?m-1319768008/

I got positive results by eating fruit first thing in the morning, eating zero grain, eating small salad with soup spoon of oil, salad should include OKRA just one a day. evry day

increase you cold pressed oils to a table spoon a day. reduce water as you reduce grain. continmue this for a week.

a salad a day, no grain and note water only helps with constipation if you have grain, and grain makes it all worse. short term use a husk if you must , but to fix it for good you have to cut grain, drink less water, eat a little fruit, some raw salads, and eat sensible and completely compliantly. don't forget the oils!!!!

sorry to repeat everything , but need to get it across. read book "fibre menace" or as it title is not for UK market "Fibber menace" - weird spelling. but eat for you type too, (very important.

love and peace

I am certain it was the pumpkin bread, as I have not eaten anything that heavy for a long time.  It was pretty much gone yesterday, and things seemed back to normal.  I have ordered the intrinsia and fucos plus, and am still doing the glutamine water twice a day. I am a bit afraid of the fleets thing, as I worry about damaging any of those diverticuli areas.  This last location was different than the last, more up high under the rib, even just above the hip.  Almost makes me wonder if it was the pancreas.  I am thinking too much, but at least it is gone, and I have learned more about this wonder of aging.  Who would have thought it would take so much figuring!  and PC, is that the vegetable okra that you are talking about in your salads?

Yes must be Raw Okra, one or more per person on salad.

salad, includes

half carrot, i eat the other half while making salad lol
one celery stalk
small ampunt of red pepper (capsicum)
1/4 or less spring (salad) onion. (emily has only green part as lower in fructose) very finely chopped.
1 Raw Okra
lettuce to taste.
one heaped soup spoon of Basil Pesto (olive oil, garlic, [small amount of perorino cheese or Parmesan] sea salt and Basil of course)

you can put more of the Okra in to suit you taste

Tris - check email for some alternative views on constipation also. A bit of a read but worth it.

I will try it, have only had okra cooked in a gumbo, but I am ready to try anything.  Thanks for the note about the book.  It definitely makes sense. Had my yogurt and prunes for breakfast, and will lay off the hemp powder for a while.  Think I will get out my juicer again, too.

Yogurt, milk yogurt? I didn't think Hunters could have yogurt. I would highly recommend that you cut out the yogurt if it isn't on your good list. The hunter I live with has a lot of trouble when she eats regular yogurt.

I am a nonnie and try to eat no grain, but it does pop in every now and then.  I try to drink a lot of water and now I read that with no grains, water does not help with constipation?  Oh my!  My mind is spinning.  Please elaborate!

Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again.  Blessings, meribelle

It's a theory that many have agreed with over the years.

more recently people recommend bran and water to help constipation. There seems to be little logic ro indeed evidence behind this.

After reading the book "The fibre Menace" or fiber if you can't spell lol (joke )

I'm convinced that any grain (perhaps most) will make constipation worse in the long term, and like wise with too much water.

goggle gut sense and see what you think, but i have done an lot, and i mean a lot of research around the subject and find the reverse works for me now. I should point out that most of my thinking is aimed at O's, but not exclusively.

eat right for your type, drink a sensible amount of water ans eat an adequate amount of beneficial oils. fibre from fruit and vegetables is fine.

I should say that if making any changes do them very slowly and stick with whatever works for you - we are all individuals.

sudden changes will probably give you constipation from my experience.

note that although he is aware of Blood type, his book does not cover this so take note.

Dietary fibre, eight glasses of water,  and a low-fat diet  —  the sacred cows of  nutritional dogma — break natural bowel movements, and cause hard stools, irregularity, constipation, or constipation-predominant IBS. When patients seek medical help, they are routinely recommended to add more fibre,  drink more water, and reduce fat even further. This misguided and harmful advice guarantees chronic constipation, hemorrhoids, and diverticulitis to virtually anyone, and it is behind the epidemics of inflammatory bowel disease and colon cancer

My O+ secretor husband seems to do much better with fiber, but it constipates and bloats me, so we are all individuals.

I used to be fine with loads of fibre too but it catches up with you, and the too much fibre and too much water will get them in the end.

I'm convinced of it.

Also - diets high in "irritating" fibre especially if only taken spasmodically, serves to clean out the recent food, but can leave impacted faecial matter on the colon wall...

No, not at all... Irritating fibre are things like psyllium husk, wheatbran, senna etc & then it does depend on BT of course....
