I have  about 4 mouth Ulcers . So painfull ESP when eating. When I rub my finger along the skin in side my mouth in cheek area, I can feel lots of little bumps what I can only guess are Ulcers in the Making. Doctor told me prob a virus there and gave me Aciclovir 200mg to take one 5 times a day, and use Corsodyl mouth wash.  As I work night shift I often buy sweets to suck which I often crunch ( bad habit since I was a young boy ), and when I accidentally bite my self while crunching sweet, I quickly get a mouth ulcer . Are these caused by mouth infections or is it stress  ?  Dr said if tablets don't work I can get blood test to check for crones disease of the Bowles  which he said causes mouth ulcers but said most likely it's just mouth infection. Wonder would a bad tooth cause it?
Any members had these ulcers before ? Never had ulcers since I was young boy but this last year as been a night mare.  Yes I know sucking sweets is bad, but 9 hours sitting in office on computer from 7pm until 3 am it helps keep you sain. Any advise on the Ulcers?

I wish I could think off hand of what causes them but I don't know.  I've had them off and on my whole life, less it seems from eating right.  Does sound like a virus.  Did your Dr. prescribe anything?

AB's list sound right, I was going to say take b- complex and extra b-12.  Fluorescent lights drain you of them. Since your working at night, and sleeping during the day. (dark room?) I'd add vit D. I use to get sores put haven't for sometime. (just realized this) I always got them after a period of stress, and upped my B's Wish I knew when I was going to get stressed, I'd take them before and not after.

Have you tried sucking on dried fruit, seeds with shells, then crunching the shell  open and eating the seeds. Sugar isn't helping your mouth. I understand how you feel, I use to work a the 3-11 shift.

That would be AB Amazone l.

Yes Lola your right . Badly need one.

Checked the L'lysine , looks good. Shall mention it to the Doctor.
It says about L'lysine:-

L-Lysine Benefits and Side Effects
Lysine is one of eight essential amino acids - building blocks of protein - that the body cannot manufacture on its own. L-lysine is a specific configuration of the lysine molecule often used in dietary supplements.

As a building block of protein, l-lysine benefits the body by contributing to growth. L-lysine benefits also include production of carnitine, a substance that converts fatty acids into energy and lowers levels of LDL (“bad cholesterol”) in the bloodstream.

In addition, l-lysine benefits the skeletal system by contributing to the production of collagen, the protein used to make bone, tendons, cartilage and connective tissue. Calcium absorption and use is also facilitated by l-lysine, and l-lysine benefits the skin by helping to maintain its health and elasticity.
Without enough lysine in the diet, a range of health conditions may result. Though most people can easily obtain sufficient amounts of l-lysine through diet, those who eat large amounts of sugary cereals and baked good may minimize l-lysine benefits. This is because lysine is involved in the browning of sugar, which occurs when the two substances bind together. As a result, it is difficult for the body to absorb the lysine in sugary foods. So, in cases where a person’s diet is high in foods that contain a lot of simple sugars, l-lysine supplements may be of use.
There may be other l-lysine benefits from supplements for people with specific health concerns. For example...

... when taken with vitamin C, l-lysine appears to help symptoms of the heart condition angina pectoris. It has also been used to treat sores caused by the herpes simplex and herpes zoster viruses.

Additionally, it is believed that l-lysine benefits people with osteoporosis by helping to prevent bone loss. As mentioned before, calcium absorption appears to be enhanced by l-lysine.

Also, since low levels of l-lysine have been associated with depression, chronic viral infections, asthma, and low levels of thyroid hormones, there are possible l-lysine benefits for people with those conditions as well.

Further, l-lysine appears to work with equal amounts of the amino acid arginine to build muscle.
The dosage recommended for maximum l-lysine benefits is usually 500 mg twice a day. People who want to maximize l-lysine benefits can safely take up to twice that amount without adverse effects.

L-lysine is a safe, nontoxic, natural substance when used within recommended amounts. People with osteoporosis should take l-lysine supplements with calcium for best results in treating this condition. Those with heart disease or high cholesterol levels should talk to a healthcare provider before taking l-lysine supplements.

Any problem in my mouth along the lines of yours gets treated with l-lysine. I don't eat candy so I already know if I get a sore in my mouth it isn't from that! Is there any chewing gum out there that would work?   The other supplements that Amazone mentioned would certainly be taken if things really got out of hand - which it seems to have happened to you!

I usually use Bonjela, a gel that you rub onto the sore, (don't know if that's available in the US) when I get mouth ulcers - and as deblynn3 says, sugar doesn't help. If I cut or scratch myself when eating, I am more likely to develop a sore if I've been on the sweet stuff. I have had a lot fewer ulcers since starting BTD, but was on holiday last week and gave into the desserts - needless to say I now have one ulcer and one swollen sore spot over my wisdom tooth.

I had this problem quite a while back. The Dr gave me this very sweet medication to drink to get rid of them. I don't remember the name of it. It was horrible stuff and expensive if I recall correctly. The problem came back a while after that and I did not want to take that medication again so I sought out natural remedies. My mouth was full of them this time and it was so painful. I believe it was caused from an inhaler I was prescribed. The one that says to rinse well after use. Here is the recipe for the natural remedy I tried which worked like a charm. 2 oz 3% peroxide, 2 oz water, 1 tsp salt and 1 tsp baking soda. Keep rinsing your mouth with it. Do not swallow. Good luck.

That sounds very useful PrincessMia. I will make a note for my emergency med kit. Those are items that usually are in the house or you can easily get at a local gas station type store.

At the moment have 4 and Wow so painful . Now eating soup and fish, nothing hard or crunchy or my pain will be severe . I am guessing it's the crunching of sweets that done it. At 51 I should know better. My mistake , I should stick to BTD 100% the sweets helped me through a night shift. Wonder if liqerish would be ok?
Why is it we get ulcers more the older we get?
Carrot sticks at work after a while will get a bit boring . Might try making some walnuts covered in dark chocolate after the ulcers have cleared up . Yes mine have flared up and so painful it's like I have just had a tooth out feeling .  Any of you tried the Aciclovir 200ng tablets before ?
