Thought I would start a new thread, since diagnosis has changed from bladder infection to this. I have a question, if I am to start doing a fiber smoothy once a day, would it be better to take it at the end of the day or the beginning of the day. I do not want to go thru this again, so am determined to do it right. I am adding glutamine powder into the shake and using hemp powder with pineapple juice. I am going to order some polyflora as well. But I really want to know if am or pm is the best time for the fiber/shake to do its work. Thank you for your time. |

I'm not sure about the fiber smoothie as I have to be careful with some of the gums in fiber blends, but for my bowel health - before bed and/or first thing in the morning, I use l-glutamine powder, bovine colostrum and ARA fibre from DPN & their polyflora. This is very healing to the bowel. I have a good source at a great price for the glutamine as well as the colostrum if you want you can p.m. me. |

Your gut flora needs work the fiber is not the key to getting this under control.
Small pockets are formed with diverticulosis/itis they ferment with bacteria causing inflammation .
Look like little pouches often filled with stool which is a bacteria mindfield.

too much of the wrong fibre possibly caused the problem. So if you are talking about grains i would say NO. Some help i get is from ARA. but a fruit smoothie is good for loosening things up. i put my ara in the smoothie. but limiting grains, slightly increasing oils helps. generally eating less seesmto help, although i could quiet easily have been eating too much before lol intrinsa seems to be helping, all the poly vite's flora ect, phytocal. i have now embarked on adding Deflect also. to get the whole ecosystem of policychecker in line, sensible amounts of water but nothing link 8 glasses a day - 3 seems fine for me. plenty of fresh organic vegs steamed a little raw salads are good, I have next to no grain, zero sugar from Monday to Friday, a pudding only on Sunday lunchtime, i only have icecream or ice lollies when on a day trip, never at home. I don't drink at home and rarely drink out now. the only wine i have is in a gravy 2 cups of green tea any more an i ensure i drink less water. |

One thing to perhaps try - is eating slightly less eggs
I'm not saying that it will help it is just that because i tried fasting for a few mornings i stopped eating my usual break fast which was eggs and spinach, for all i know it could be the spinach, if i had a lad i would know lol
but what ever it was it helped.
also when sleeping i tried to vary the way i slept so i would try and sleep on my right side instead of my normal left side, and also on my back sometimes, since the feeling of a blockage (potential diverticulitis is on the left side. |

Ok, I do try to ER, just slipped with the sunflower seeds. Lola, thanks, I did see that list under protocols, and am doing the glutamine and will order the polyflora. My husband has some colostrum which I can take. As soon as I can will get the intrinsa. I don't eat wheat so am thinking I won't spend $ on the deflect right now. I keep carbs at a minimum, too. As for eggs I eat them only once a week or so. Andrea, I will look at that link now, and thanks so much for sending it. And PC, I know what you mean by sleeping on your side, I have noticed a difference. I rarely eat sweets and I have to give up my wine for three weeks while on these antibiotics and a week past as one of them conflicts. I usually have two glasses of red in the evening. So I am technically 'on the wagon' as they say. lol. Ok, life keeps throwing something new for me to deal with! |

don't under estimate the value of deflect O Trish.
Antibiotics?? that will make the problem worse, you will need to follow the antibiotic protocol big time.
I never use antibiotics and haven't fro a few years now, same with Emily and amber. none Nada etc etc.....
I did use the natural helpers to bacteria. see protocols. i did a whole bottle of astragulas and i have a bottle of uva ursi for the future as they are banning it here.

Well, I agree about the antibiotics. But there is no choice with this one. If the thing bursts, I die. So I guess I will do the protocol big time. Until then I will work on the bacteris issue and take the supplements. Thanks for your concern. |

I would not use the protocol as the same time as the antibiotics. Counter productive.. big fan of killing the bad guys and then helping the good guys get established. |

I assume you mean the protocol for antibiotics not intestinal health? The only one that says to take with antibiotics are the enzymes. And I have been doing that once a day, maybe I should do it every time? Am feeling better, just a little weak in the knees. Wonder if I am going to be playing tennis on Thursday.....will see how I feel tomorrow. |

intrinsa along with ara6 plus all the usual things and get a two months supple one month of intrinsa really helped me but when it ran out it flared again, not as much but intrinsa helped the most.
I find harmonia deluxe to be good also, it has ara in it too.
also if your lower left hand side becomes uncomfortable, lying down, seems to help, I even found that lying on my left side for 10 minutes then lying on my back for 10 mins followed by lying on my right side followed by lying on my stomach had a positive if not weird effect.
also a full glass of water first thing in the morning helped things move a long.
keep of all other sugar! |

After two weeks of strong antibiotics and three weeks of eating right, I thought, and feeling good, here it is back again. I am so upset, as the dr said if it continues to return, I will eventually need surgery. I need to get this right! I was eating those 'too crispy' rice cakes, only one or two a day and 4 or 5 prunes. Other than those questionable things, the others are greek yogurt and kefir, soups, well cooked veggies, and soft fruits. I am taking probiotic in am and again later in the day, and sometimes glutamine water at night, too. My massage therapist friend said to use meat as a condiment, simmered in soups only. To eat more fresh juices. Is this the time to get out the juicer? She said no salads either.....and I have not had seeds or nuts. She says coconut oil, too. Another friend said that spicy foods bother..... I know you usually do not comment on such inquiries, Dr D, but if you could say yay or nay on these suggestions, or if there is something being missed, I would so appreciate a line or so. I really do not want this issue to continue. Thank you. |
