So, my uncle is still doing well.  According to blood tests he has no cancer yet the mass is still there and the body needs to slowly get rid of it, I guess.  However, his taste buds are still not as they should be.
There's only certain things that taste the way they should to him and they're foods that aren't good for him so the temptation to eat horribly is rather great.  We searched it out a little bit and found something that had helped some people, zinc, I think, but it hasn't done anything for him.
Mom asked me post and see if anyone knows #1.) Why does a cancer patient loose their taste buds and #2.) What can you do about it?
She would be most grateful for an answer being that she's the one who has to deal with the brunt of his likes and dislikes.

Leanne,

Just about 2 weeks ago, I was wondering how your Uncle was doing and went to read at the web site where you posted about his dx and progress after seeing Dr. Nash.  I didn't see anything new and was concerned he wasn't doing well.  And then I see this post about your Uncle and that he's doing well, still with us.  So happy to read that.

Unfortunately, the only thing I know of that would help taste buds is... "Mary Jane" but I doubt that's on his beneficial list.   If he was out here in Cali he could easily get a prescription for it.

Leanne,
How wonderful that the cancer is gone!  I wondered about it too.
I don't have any solution but maybe someone from the clinic would??????

My guess is that Dr D hasn't evaluated marijuana because it's currently illegal. Promoting its use could get him into trouble, both with the law and with his reputation. IMO, the work he's doing right now is too important to risk in that way!

This means that marijuana remains unevaluated, and Dr D has never said anything about it being innapropriate for any blood type or genotype.

Leanne- I'm glad your uncle is free of cancer, and I wish him a speedy and complete healing.

You are probably right Ruthiegirl.  She asked for recommendations, and this was the only thing I know that people have used to increase appetite....not sure if it also works for the taste buds.
