I find that my muscles "twitch" on occasion. It is not painful. It just feels like a nerve that fires continuously, subtly moving a finger for example. I have tried to supplement my diet with lots of high-quality magnesium and I will continue to do so. The twitching has not disappeared yet. Perhaps we can use this thread to share some ideas. I read somewhere that O's are prone to stress. Are there any other O's who have experienced this twitching? What do you do about it? Other blood types are welcome, of course. |

I see that as the beginning of (diabetes related) neuropathy.. which I think starts 20 years before other symptoms are noticed.
The solution in my book is to pay attention many decades earlier to the needs of this disorder predestined (inherited) through our genes.. much more then lip service regarding eating sugar.. |
| When I see other peoples medicines schedule-I am happy to be here taking care of my health I only wish to drop weight more easily-life would be perfection Being 'here' creates understanding. BTD prevents damage from eating avoids. Thanks Dr D & your sups - all support and friendships |

Twitching may be a sign of B12 deficiency. You might look at the Methyl 12 on this site. Dr. Nash suggested a couple of those a day for my O hubby when we went to see her. I take them as well and really like them.
We have also found fish and krill oil to be really good for our nervous systems. Lovely.
I've also found while in chiropractic that the neck often can cause issues with the hands. I had a thumb issue once and a neck adjustment was what was called for. Had tingling in my feet once and it was part of my back out of wack.

I actually experience this as well, on occasion. Thank you for sharing this AKArtlover. Should we be worried about methyl B12 toxicity? I read on article on B12 by Dr. D. In it, he seemed to use very high doses. Can we do this over the long-term? Just want to be sure. |

This? http://www.4yourtype.com/methylb12.aspI think I had problems with cyanocobalamin and researching it was what brought me back to this site. You might also type "B12" and "toxicity" into the upper right hand search on this website. As an A Explorer that eats not a whole lot of meat right now, I'm not too concerned. Someone in the first thread on there mentions that you urinate out the excess. My thought is that if I was deficient enough to be showing signs of deficiency, it would take me a long way to swing to the "too much" side. Best. |

I also forgot to mention that I would have an eye twitch that has since went away. |

I have this happen when I get too much caffeine and/ or sugar. For instance, for the past few days I've had headaches here in NYC. I never, ever get headaches and I'm assuming that it some sort of allergen floating around. Excederine works wonderfully for me when, on the rare occasion that I DO get a headache (I know it's full of avoids, but it still works really well, so I take it), but it's chock full of caffeine, so I will usually get some eye twitches or muscle twitches after a day or two of taking it. They go away as soon as I stop taking it. |

B6 is about the only B-vitamin you need to watch out for, as far as toxicity is concerned. Niacin will just make you flush, and I believe excessive levels of folic acid may actually increase cancer risks. B6 is particularly important because supplement companies love to put it in just about everything. B6 and Peripheral neuropathy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peripheral_neuropathy"Common symptoms associated with damage to the motor nerve are muscle weakness, cramps, and spasms." Exactly what you want to avoid by using B12. Perhaps cutting the B6 may help--if you are taking non-NAP supplements. Do you take a heavy B-vitamin? |

I'm an AB and I get them. Lately it's been consistently my left arm tricep muscle, lower part.
I have neurological problems. To what extent, I don't know, but when I went down to mayo, the one thing that stood out the most is I failed the neurological test. My doctor is also treating me for lyme's disease. That can attack your neurological system. I don't sweat very well any longer either. Although I do at night sometimes when sleeping. I think the war gets waged then. |

Hello - I too have had muscle "twitching". It started in my early 20's. When it first began, I was in law school, drank a lot of coffee and soda, and ate whatever I wanted. My doctor ran several tests, to rule out MS and/or other neurological issues, and determined that I needed to stop drinking caffeinated beverages - completely. I also had to limit my chocolate in take, which saddened me. Since then, I have been mainly muscle twitch free. If I have a muscle twitch, I can easily tie it to something caffeinated that I ate or drank (sometimes, I slip ). |

I get random twitching as well... sometimes it's directly related to prior injuries in my neck & back, sometimes it's stress related (eye twitching from stress or overuse), sometimes it just boggles my mind. I'll have a twitch under one of my ribs for 3 or 4 days, I'll try to make sure I'm really hydrated, do some extra stretching & use the heating pad & usually it seems to go away on it's own. Although, I do go to my Chiro for adjustments & maybe a good massage if it gets too bothersome. |
