Hi Everyone,
I am looking for some help regarding my situation. I was tested for my thyroid and my testosterone levels ended up coming back way low. I am 33 years old and my testosterone level was at a 255 when the average is 332-1100. Someone my age should be at 700 so this would explain the anxiety, depression, low sex drive and the list goes on. I know that this can have long term health affects so I want to take steps to fix it now. Here is my dilemma. The last thing I want to do is take something or apply something that will make my body stop naturally producing testosterone therefore making me have to supplement testosterone for the rest of my life. I found out I am a hunter and in fact my name is Matt and I fit the description of the guy Dr. D' Adamo wrote about in the hunter profile to the "T". I have started following the protocol and I am feeling better especially after cutting out gluten, however, my naturopath has me on bio identical testosterone cream along with some other supplements. I feel like the cream is having the opposite affect on me and I am going to stop but I was wondering if the genotype diet would help me to restore the balance and start producing healthy amounts of testosterone again? Has anyone else dealt with the low testosterone and if so what advice do you have. I want to do whatever I can to insure that my body is the one producing the testosterone and not some pill or cream. Thanks for reading this and I look forward to discussing this with like minded people. |

SWAMI-pro has a check box to adjust the diet for you. Might want to see what an ND says they may be able to address this better then an MD. A list of practitioners can be found at http://www.dadamo.com/ifhi. It will get updated in a few months once the conference is over, so might want to check back. University of Bridgeport has a ND clinic and Dr. D 'Adamo has an office in Conn. |

Matt, do you, or have you recently, taken any medications? Certain medications will lower testosterone. |

I've found the genotype diet to put my body in the best possible position to deal with whatever imbalances have developed in my body, no matter what they are. I can't imagine trying to deal with the illnesses that develop in life without having this foundation of the ideal diet for my body. In my case, maca has raised my testosterone very gently. Yes, even women develop low testosterone. I didn't like using the cream just because it didn't "feel right". I think the steamed maca is more easily assimilated by the body. |

I have been seeing a naturopath for about a month and she put me on the cream along with Supplements from Standard Process. This is what she has me on:
Fish oil Cal/mag Idoral (iodine) Thorne Co Q-100 Standard Process Drenatrophin Standard Process Symplex M I have been trying St Johns Wort to help with depression and anxiety I am stopping the cream application today because it doesn't feel right and seems to be having the opposite affect.
Is this repairable? I know my body has the ability to heal itself but it is kind of scary and I feel out of control. Thanks for the posts so far. |

Dr D why type O's are not recommended to use St Johns Wort. Aside from the fact that the two cases of "photosensitization" Type O's have lower levels of the enzyme MAO, and St. Johns Wort is an MAO inhibitor feel "weird" or have disturbing dreams type O's with mild to moderate depression do benefit from the amino acid tyrosine (which can boost dopamine levels), and arginine (which is used to recycle nitrous oxide in the nervous system). Also, the gene for the enzyme dopamine beta hydroxylase sits right on top of the ABO gene and there are indications that this may cause psychiatric syndromes to be somewhat related to ABO blood group.
Please do not take it. |

I think some tyrosine would be helpful for your thyroid. The product here called Catechol is a good one for that, helps with energy and depression for type O's. I love it for those purposes. |

Matt
My hubby is 35 and has the same problem. His testosterone is that of a 70 year old man! Yet he has the sex drive of a 15 year old, so basically my ND said that all of his testosterone goes towards that area and there is nothing left for anything else.
He told him to exercise with the heaviest weights he could, 3 or 4 times a week, and that would naturally raise his testosterone and level it out. He has high glucose issues (no thyroid, that's my Achilles's heel).
I am a hunter and had to stop lifting weights because my testosterone was too high and it was making me break out...so for sure that is a good way of doing it naturally. |

I think Jesi has great advice! I just wanted to add that when I take bladderwrack, it seems to lift my energy and spirits naturally. That's another type O good supplement. |

I forgot to add, my ND put me on Opticrine by Apex Energetics, as well as Thyraxis PT (great supp) and Thyro CNV. Opticrine is to level out testosterone and estrogen, but he gave it to me for adrenal fatigue. Well when my hubby had this low testosterone prob, I told him he should take Opticrine with me...after 2 days his sex drive went to the floor...it was like someone had invaded his body! It's pretty much the same reaction you had ot the cream...the opposite of what you want! As soon as he stopped taking it, he was his old "teenager" self...lol. I truly hope you can figure out what to do to make yourself better! I love my ND and listen to all his advice, but a lot of times I like to research on my own and bring him ideas to see what he thinks (like when I asked him about bladderwrack and he kinda laughed, but I started taking it anyways and it really is helping me with energy and losing a little bit of weight I gained). The Thyraxis PT I mentioned has bovine thyroid hormone (100 mg per pill) and it helped me right away..within a month I had to lower my dosage to half! |

Also, check your nipples, and see if there is any drainage from them, at all, or any lumps near the area. This is something that causes test.....level to lower, also. Sometimes serious, sometimes not, but it tells the doctor more about the reasoning of it. |

Do something for your liver. The liver produces a lot of hormones, many of which that affect other parts of the body like the testicles.
I can relate with thyroid and hormone levels going up and down. Iodine has helped me. Liver stuff helps some, but stable blood sugar as well. Stay off the sugars as they are hard on thyroids and livers often. |

I agree with jesi, left weights!! The king of testosterone boosting is SQUATS!! it'll raise ur testosterone and hgh hormones! Go Heavy, real heavy, put on a weight that u'll get 6-7 reps max! i recommend doing 4 sets of squats each set 6-7 reps 3 sets bench press each set 6-7 reps 2 sets shoulder press each set 6-7 reps Before every exercise do a warm up set of 15 reps with a moderate weight.. do this 3-4 times a week and please eat steaks and brown/basmati rice, they are "BOTH" complex carbohydrates, eat to recover! don't stay next day saying im sore!! u need to eat.. and yeah NO SUGAR as my friend above said. And toss away St johns wort its harming u! |

Wrong, Lamb for an explorer, soy for warrior/teacher. Type A under no condition digest beef well. The claims that soy increases estrogen means little. The problem is when an Explorer loads their system with toxins which soy could contribute too, and then hormones get out of whack at the liver and maybe thyroid. The liver is responsible for hormones that makes the male parts of the body responsible for producing testosterone, do so. http://www.dadamo.com/forum/archive9/config.pl?read=55042 |

Testosterone Links to the liver and the cyp3a4 cytochrome they are complicated pathways. Liver health would be a good place to place some emphasis. |

bro i hope next time before posting a reply, u read the thread carefully. The guy is type O, if he is a newbie and doesn't/didn't change his avatar that doesn't make him type A. And trust me i wouldn't tell a type A to eat beef thats just rude . And about estrogen and soy, as u brought this topic, BTW IT RAISES ESTROGEN I TRIED IT MY SELF!. Girls eat them everyday , boys once a week is good u'll get its benefits and not the BIG consequences lol |

His blood type avatar is A blood type so he can't be a Hunter you have to have O blood to be a Hunter.
So confusion arises...
Wonder if Matt will return? |

Hey everyone, I just took the official blood type test and found out I am an A negative which means I am either an explorer or a warrior. I just need to find out what my secreter status is. The reason I first thought I was a hunter was because I did all the measurements without the blood type and messed up on a couple. Sorry for the confusion guys. I also recently found out that I have "adrenal fatigue syndrome" which is the root cause of my hormonal imbalance, anxiety and fatigue. I know that diet, food allergies and stress are the main cause of this. I am now on a slow road to recovery with supplements, diet and lifestyle change in order to heal my adrenal glands. It sucks that I let it get this far but at least I know what the cause of my symptoms are. I tried the testosterone cream but it freaked my out and made me feel like I was going crazy. My adrenal glands were is such a weak state that they were not producing much testosterone and then I start artificially pumping it in and they were like, "wait, we are to busy for this, where is this coming from" and therefore I believe it created a negative loop and converted it into estrogen which made me an emotional wreck. As of now I eating right, on supplements, getting lots of rest when I can, removing stress so that my adrenal glands can heal. When they are able to heal the testosterone should go up naturally. They also recommend light exercise because heavy exercise can actually make the condition worse. Any thoughts? |

Makes sense, Matt. When the adrenal hormones are low, the adrenals steal the other hormones. This is so over-simplistic, you scientific-types feel free to come on and set me straight on the proper language! lol!! But anyway, that's how I understand it. |
