Can anyone tell me what to do about a high ferritin level of 625. Normal is 6-250. Don't know how long it has been high since the ferritin hasn't been tested in some time. All other iron tests are normal. I used to always be anemic. My doctor doesn't believe it is hemochromatosis because at this stage in my life it would have caused other problems. He said he is going to discuss it with a hematologist. I thought maybe someone could give me some ideas about this. Most everything I have read says to quit eating animal products. Thanks for your help. Maryann |

It is about what you do eat not about what you don't. Stopping animal products won't make you healthier, you need to eat your B foods... fruits veggies.. nuts beans... etc.. and some meat, in the portions recommended. |

I think giving blood can help lower your ferritin levels. |

Eating oatmeal with your meat will help so you don't absorb more iron |
