Hi all! Since I really got into menopause last august, I have gained some 7 kilos and I am tired. Sometimes I drag myself into bed.
I'm exhausted all the time also..I take royal jelly, which helps with the energy..and L-carnitine really wakes me up in the morning. I can't seem to de fog even with coffee unless I take it. It's for heart health, fat metabolism and energy. I'm trying arginine..I stopped the BHRT. I had the same reaction to it as Chole...that, and I believe the good ole' FDA shut down the compounding pharmacies because Wyeth was a whiner baby. |

btw. Boron between 1 to 3 grams daily helps also to fight h.flashes and reduces bonepains.... and also may I allow myselve to recommend to all bloodtypes, in cases of fatigues or depressions not only use a higher amount of B complex but go for 10-20 (max.30mg's ) of Enada NADH this stuff will take you out of the deepness of whatsoever and is also compatible with the intake of SSRI's; which is contradicted for an intake of aminoacids...at the same time & SSRI's. But to take Enada NADH just to boost your energylevels is super great |

Hey Isa and Kris! Thanks gals for your advice!! I will check those websites Isa . Is wild yam something hb for A's??? Peter's encyclopedia states that wild yam is just for O's for menopausal problems..?? I will surf to those websites Isa.. I think I still am lucky compared to my MPfriends here in Holland. But feeling so worn out (esp. in the evenings) is not fun at all. I will come back with my results later.. Thanks gals!! You are precious!! Cocky |

Bcomplex is nothing for me.. I tested with my biotensor.. It is too much for me... But Isa, the Enada I will give it a try again.. I felt well with it a year ago. I must increase my soy-isoflavones as well.. Boron is something I will check also.. Thanks again.. Cocky |

I have followed Dr.Adamo plan for almost 3yrs now(O+), dropped off large amount of weight (150lbs) then I hit menopause in 2008 and gained 30lbs mostly in my abdomen. Now what I am confused about is that I have followed the "O" plan to the wire and taking kelp and gluten free super b-complex and exercise 6days a week. Can someone shed some light on this for it is baffling me and I have become depressed with this recent events. I dont know what to do, for I have done everything I need to do to have a healthy lifestyle for the rest of my life.

How about exercise & no grains? Some folks are extrememly sensitive to them.

I'm interested to hear from those who have 'gone through' menopause to find out how they are keeping their skin good, with good continued high collegen levels, etc., as I hear that after menopause you quit making the stuff and that's when the big wrinkling starts. Silica? I've heard something about that. What else? I'm turning 50 next month and with good care of my health over the years am holding pretty good but wondering what else folks do as they get into these golden years. I'm still 'cycling' every month. Sometimes they are light and then extremely heavy and I think I'm starting to have 'light' hot flash activity. |

I'm glad to see this thread surface. I am almost 51, and menopause is looming. Nothing really indicative yet, but as the article that Chloe posted stated, it's a good time to get the health front really in order.
Someone back in this thread mentioned maca. I have taken it for the last 5 years, but recently stopped - ran out, actually. So far, I haven't noticed a difference not taking it, but I will go straight back on it if need be. I don't have any hot flashes, the occasional very mild night sweat, regular(ish) cycles (between 23 and 28 days), and no mood swings to speak of.
Thanks ladies for all your posts - it is the sum of much accumulated wisdom!! |

I have been having mild hot flashes only, for about a year and a half. My MD suspects my weight loss sluggishness may be due to poor sleep and she thinks that my taking Black Cohosh may help but I don't want to.
Coincidentally, she's given me a new blood pressure med called Spironolactone and I haven't had a hot flash since starting it. It's a mild diuretic and does something with cortisol or adrenaline. I've also lost 5 lbs spontaneously, which NEVER happens, and my kidney stones stopped aching. I'm waiting for it to perk up my breasts, get rid of my wrinkles and tan me. Because so far, it is a miracle.
No wonder she was giddy while writing the script. |

Hi All, Was beginning menopause in 2002 with a history of fibroids and in Dec 2005 had a complete histerectomy. 7 years later, having gone on the genotype diet and then Swami (though I am pretty compliant with Geno, not using my Swami as much as I could). I found that the only thing that completely manages hot flashes for me is staying off alcohol. Even a glass of wine can usually bring a mild one on, though otherwise I NEVER get them. I attribute this to liver issues-- which I associate with my Explorerism. I think that the Genotype protocol has really helped me finetune the few health issues that the Blood Type O diet didn't resolve. For instance sex is still pleasurable for me and I don't have much trouble with dryness and some of the symptoms that other women complain about. I am an herbalist and use herbs myself, I find that the adaptogens (Rhodiola, Schisandra, and Maral Root/Rhaponticum are my faves) many of which Dr. D recommends, are what work best, since they balance the whole system. I used to take vitex/chaste tree, but find that it is a little too much for me right now. My personal take is that the diet is crucial, and the more I stick to it the better I do. Herbs just help me tweak it. And there's no doubt that anything that helps your endocrine system in general is going to be very important. Thyroid needs to be in balance, in my view, for things to work right. My 2 cents |
