What protochol should I use to get better after a attach of acute brochitis? Normally I don´t have any astmalike problems - I just think a combo of a nasty cold- stress and maybe weather gave me this nasty B. I want to stop couching !

while your waiting for portochol, info you can use cayenne pepper in foods and drinks like lemon water, or tea warm or cold, and see if that starts breaking it down fast. |

Yes, prob so , however you will then have it on hand for the next bout. I really really like this stuff. Have you tried any natural antihistamines? That should dry your cough, BUT beware that it will also dry up your chest, so it you give that a try, be double sure to get in all your water each day and prob some extra. |

Cool mist humidifier. Worked wonders for me last year. You need to get that cool moisture in your lungs for them to heal.

Elderberry... in whatever form you have (although I'll admitt, I've never tried elderberry wine ) works wonders for me when under the weather. Elderberries are neutral for B secretor's, but they are a super bennie in some of the health books. Feel better soon Henriette!! I bet you already do too Whenever I get to the point where I am fed up with being sick and desperately want to feel better... I usually do. It is like it signals a turning point in the illness, or something similar. |

Can you get some Yerba Sante tincture? It is a good cough remedy and is mildly expectorant. Hope you recover quickly, Henriette!! |

K: Elderberry .... all the oher years I have made my own proberry sirup; elderberry, cherry, blueberry, bluegrapes and raspeberry boiled down with sugar - but this year( or more correct last september / octobre) it was so dry here that the birds got hold of the berries before me - lucky enough none of us have been sick all winter V: Yerba Santa will look for it. Yes you are right - I´m impatient.... hate to cough.... Added later - no it is no possible to get YS here- but I found out the blue violets ( Viola odorata) should be really efficient- my lawn is blue of them at the moment. I was thinking that I would pick some to make candied violets for cakes... but maybe better to do somthing against my cough. |

Here's a followup question from a newbie:
What do you do about chronic, recurring bronchitis? Any suggestion on supplements to strengthen this area?
Also, one of my main reasons - well in all honesty THE main reason! - I decided to take the plunge and test-drive the BTD for myself, is that I have horrible allergies that have just gotten worse as the years go by. Geometrically worse, it seems. Really bad. I do know of someone whose ex-husband went on the Atkins diet and she said "his allergies went away" because of it, so am hoping for the same results on what I believe is a superior (and more scientifically tested and provable) diet plan.
My own husband has allergies, too, though not to the same degree of severity. He doesn't know his blood type and is not really interested in the BTD but at least he's supportive of me in this new dietary adventure. |

Henriette, beware of sugar. I have read that 1 Tb of sugar will depress the immune system for 2 to 4 hours. Not what you need! |

dragonsgold5, wishing you a warm welcome to BTD and the forums!! For me, all my bronchitis went away once starting BTD. Your big avoids (or they are for me) for this particular illness, are dairy and wheat. Actually those are the first 2 things we are advised to avoid on the first week, if we're doing the diet in weekly steps. I used to have bronchitis all the time, it's so nice not to deal w/ it anymore. A month or so ago, I thought I was getting it, as the DH had it already. I always felt like I was only a step ahead. Turned out it was the heart issue, instead of bronchitis. Could I have a do-over? |

Italybound, was your bronchitis allergy-related? How long did it take on the BTD for you to see a difference?
I've almost eliminated wheat and dairy completely from my diet.... |

Hi Dragon, Have you considered investing in the secretor test? |

AB Joe thanks - I couldn´t somehow find the Pulmonary Support prothocol... Yes Victoria - is really bad.especialy when sick... my only intake of sugar is small ammount during the weekend, never during the week. I have wondered if I could make the "proberry" sirup- with honey instead ?! - I have lots of that being a beekeeper - and honey has a compleetely different affect on me. |

Yes my bronchitis was allergy related - food 'allergy'. I had all kinds of allergy symptoms........I thought they were due to outside pollens, environmental things, etc............ turns out, at least 95% of it was from foods. I saw relief within the first week, but I started BTD cold turkey and at 100%. |

Hi Dragon,
Have you considered investing in the secretor test?
Actually, I am considering it....but maybe not just yet. For now I'm going to assume (since it's 80 to 85% likely) that I'm a secretor. |

I just wanted to share: Today I looked at my herbal book... and suddenly it came to me licorice tea.!!!.. and sure as... It said Licorice tea is very good when you have bronchitis -so after dinner I had 1 cup and now 2 hours later - when I normally coughs like crazy - no cough and it is beneficial or neutral for all. |
