Would it be possible for blood to show up in a urine specimen of a secretor, simply because of the fact that I am a secretor?
I don't know if I'm secretor or non, but now I am wondering if it's possible to have a false positive urinalysis because I might be a secretor?

I ask because twice in the past month I have had urinalysis done, but no symptoms of infection. And the test initially has not shown infection. I'm taking an antibiotic anyway, hoping that will clear up any possible infection that wasn't detected. Further culturing is being done on the most recent sample, no results yet. I am hoping to avoid expensive and uncomfortable further tests.

I have had much trouble with urinary frequency most of my life, and years ago even had bladder distention with silver nitrate, and urethral dilation treatments. But that was over 20 years ago, now I'm wondering if those treatments are coming back to haunt me...

I don't believe these two things are related.  Blood shows up in your urine, not because of secretor status, but because you are bleeding somewheres.

No.  See above.

First off, what are your symptoms?  Why did you have the urinalysis in the first place?

I also had chronic UTI since I was a child.  Have had two bladder surgeries.  I used to not be able to void completely on my own, and had to self cath for years, which would bring on infections.  A chronic cycle.  It was years before I discovered that candida was causing a lot of my chronic bladder problems.

Here's what I would recommend for you.  First, hands down, invest in the secretor test.  Dollar for dollar, this is one of the most important tests you can do at this point, and will get you on the right track towards healing.  Once you know your status, you can follow the appropriate food program.

Second, I would start taking the herb "marshmallow" root.  No question, this herb helped me trememdously.  This herb has the ability to soothe the entire ailementry canal, and heal scar tissue in the bladder.  It also helped with pain.  I still keep it stocked on my shelf.

Third, do you have any amalgam/silver fillings and how many?  If you do, determine if you have candida or not by taking the candida spit test.  If you do have candida, you will need to address your silver fillings first, because candida acts in a protective capacity for your body in regards with the mercury vapor.

Consider adding Astralgus to your daily regemin because it's an anti-viral AND anti bacterial for Type O's, and/or consider using the Urinary Tract Health Protocol to speed up your healing.

Hope this helps.

KimonoKat,
Thanks for your reply. My symptoms were spotting after menopause, thought it was from fibroid, now we're thinking it was from urinary tract all along. It last only one week, spotted about three times. Had pelvic ultrasound, confirmed fibroid, but causes no symptoms really.
Had blood in urine in Dec. and in Jan.--it's not obvious, but shows up in the test. These tests
were done to see if bladder infection was present, but infection did not show up initially.
Haven't heard results of the culture yet.

I have had some soreness in the groin, possibly from lymph node, too.
My urinary frequency is much improved after taking an antibiotic last week, maybe it was an infection after all.

I'll check out that marshmallow root for sure, and am considering the tests you mentioned.

Tomatilla,
yes I have been under major stress, almost nonstop, for over ten years.

I have a friend who had blood in his urine that was determined to be of a benign cause... a mystery to his doctor. Upon self reflection, my friend realized the origin of this malady. It was connected to when he was a young boy, his father used to hit him out of the blue... for disciplinary measures... and when his father would hit him, he would wet his pants. He did some processing around this painful issue from his past, drew an amazing drawing connected to it, and the presence of the blood in his urine all but disappeared. He still shows casts... but no more whole red blood cells.
