I just started school and it is a little stressful considering I'm going to graduate. I went off the diet for a couple of days and haven't been eating much. I've been getting this burning sensation right in the middle of my torso and I have a hard time breathing. Yesterday, I was sitting down and all of a sudden I could barely breathe. Then it went away after a few minutes. I think I may not be getting enough calories of something. Any suggestions? |

GERD gastro esophagel reflex disease or chronic heartburn,,,you've upset the the acidic balance in your stomach by not eating right and acids are backing up in the sensative opening between your stomach and the esophagus
avoid coffee chocolate mints and black tea all of which provoke GERD
teaspoon of ginger juice taken seveal times is effective in lessoning the burning sensation
exercise...this will relieve the stress you r feeling

You are/were under a lot of stress eh, saverain? My O husband had something similar happen after a prolonged illness that prevented him from undertaking the strenuous walking to which he was accustomed. First of all get yourself checked out by a DR. If all presents well, as I'm sure it will, then EAT and get EXERCISING as this shall help you tremendously. Absolutement. The breathing problem you mention is a typical O response to prolonged/persistent stress, even after the acute/chronic phases have passed. Eat for your type, of course. But above all you've gotta MOVE baby! (Don't forget the water and lemon juice thingy too as you sound rather overly 'acidic'.)

Makes sense, I've been having a hard time just functioning probably due to the high acidic level. I'll test myself tonight. I usually run and it does help at first but then I feel worse the next day. I read the other thread about GERD and it sounds a lot like what I've been going through. Thanks for the advice. |

I thought lemon juice helps but isn't it very acidic. They say oranges have an alkaline effect but they are acidic too. I've been walk around my campus all day now that I've been feeling this way and I feel worse. |

It's just a quick squeeze of lemon in 8oz water not the juice of the whole lemon, saverain. Do you normally exercise, by the way? How bad is the feeling after exercise? Do you feel anxious? (You may have high cortisol levels/low serotonin to boot...but I wouldn't know. If you are feeling worse (keeping in mind, I'm not privy to what 'worse' means precisely for you) please git yourself to a doctor.
Take care kiddo, eh. |

I feel very anxious, almost all the time. I've been to a doctor about similiar problems or the same and he did help. |

Try some of Dr. D's Catechol. It really helps with the stress. O's shouldn't have orange juice. It is too acidic. It sounds weird but grapefruit juice actually becomes less acidic in your system. As long as I eat like an O should, I have NO problems with acid indigestion, etc. Try some sparkling mineral water. That's terrific for O's with too much acid. Sounds like stress to me but if it doesn't get better, you'd better get it checked out. Jane |

In your case, I would not eat any citrus fruits. Dr. D recommends marshmallow root and slippery elm bark for O's with too much acid. Also Bladderwrack. For stress, he suggests Holy Basil and Bacopa. All of these should be available in your health foods stores. And please try compliance to BTD, and drink plenty of water. Get LR4YT, and follow the frequency and portion size guidelines. Beware of eating too much grains, and don't eat wheat at all. It will make things worse. For a quick, harmless fix, get some Acid Soothe by Enzymedica. Click HERE. |

I stopped exercising for a while and felt a lot better and then I went for a ride on my bike and started to feel it again. I usually run once every three days and ride my bike every once in a while. Everytime I exercise it gets worse, I think that it irritates my stomach because all the fluids are moving around. I also exercise and ride my bike around 8pm-9pm this may also be a factor. I think I just eat and drink too much before I exercise and exercise to late so I'm wired before I go to sleep and my body doesn't digest correctly because I'm too active. Yeh, I think my mind and body are just too active, I should find time to relax after meals, that will probably help. Allow my body to digest my food and chew well. Also I've noticed that (I just started school) the chairs at school are not good for posture so I should make an effort to sit straight. Being crouched over my desk is not good. What do you think? I don't want to start taking pills, I know once I start it never stops. |
