I'm breaking out the crockpot in a few minutes. I've got 2 turkey thighs, a large onion, a bag of ready peeled carrots, a bag of green split peas, various spices including curry powder. I've got some quinoa if it needs thickening up. No celery as I would only need a couple of stalks and the rest would get wasted.

Sounds yummy, kind of like the split pea soup that my mother used to make on top of the stove.  She used barley instead of the quinoa....memories of my childhood.

It woould be a bit of a drive Averno. Otherwise you would be welcome. The red pepper flakes I just dumped in with the curry powder and kosher salt might be problematic for a warrier.

Unfortunately the big oval crock pot has a broken crock. I might have to cut down on how much split peas and quinoa I can put in the smaller round one.. I just put new shoes on the Toyota, gotta save some money.

This sorta reminds me of kichari / kitchari / kitcheree, except yours has meat.

In Ayurveda, there are healing stews, meant for "detox", for each dosha / individual / season. They include a grain and a bean/dal, plus "appropriate"/compliant spices and, perhaps, vegetables. In Ayurveda, meat is very rarely viewed as therapeutic!  

But when you mentioned the curry, I thought you might get some nice ideas for:
Spicing
Grain/bean combinations

-- if you look into kitcherees (however you choose to spell it!)...since this is a form you fancy.

It is rather nice if a bit too thick. I might as some water before I reheat the left overs, I've made this several times before and really enjoy the curry spices.

Can you please post the recipe? I would LOVE to try this! Unless, you are inviting me over... hee hee!

Your recipe sounds delicious. Do you think I can sub brown rice for quinoa? If you do not mind, can you tell me about the spices you used, including amounts? Costco sells turkey breast. I am wondering if this would work, too.

Sorry there is no recipe as the quantities and ingredients vary. I would be sure to use the spices, curry and red pepper or red peperflakes and salt I mentioned added "to taste". You definitely could use brown rice. I also added a little olive oil but butter or ghee would do also.

I make slow-cooker turkey stew from time to time, and just about anything you throw in there will be great if it's seasoned well. One piece of advice: brown the turkey. You don't want it sitting around luke warm for hours. Also get the liquids heating up right away so they are hot by the time you put the turkey in there.
