I bought a book called " The 150 Healthiest Slow Cooker Recipes on Earth" recently one that I'm making tomorrow follows with my changes in parenthes.
Beef Biryani 1 large yellow onion, quartered 4 cloves of garlic, crushed 1 inch cub of peeled fresh ginger 2 teaspoons of ghee or olive oil (cultured unsalted butter) 3/4 teaspoon of ground cumin 3/4 teaspoon of ground coriander 1/2 teaspoon of ground cardamom 1/2 teaspoon of cloves 1/2 teaspoon each of salt and pepper(used red chile flakes) 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon(might use cloves or might use cinnamon) 1 lb grass feed beef top round cut into 2 by 1/2 inch pieces(used 1 1/2 grass fed goat stew meat) 1 cup frozen peas 2/3 cup plain greek yogurt 1/3 cup toasted cashews, optional(toasted almonds) combine onion, garlic, and ginger in a food processor and make in to a puree, set aside melt ghee in a sautee pan and stir in the cumin, coriander, cardomom, salt, pepper, cinnamon and heat for 1 to 2 minutes then add to the puree and regrind. combine the puree and the beef in a slow cooker, stir to combine and coat. cook on slow for 4 to 5 hours. Sit in the peas and yogurt for the last 15 minutes garnish with nuts and serve. 4 servings |

sounds really delicious GCG - I am yet to wade into goat territory, it looks quite 'boney' from what I saw at the butcher - not really like steaks or roasts, but loads of bones and a little meat... |

Well I know the lady who raises goats and I've been to her farm so I know the goats are grass fed. Good lamb is hard to find here and horribly expensive if you can. Beef is a neutral and grassfed is also hard to find. These goats are a breed specifically bred for meat called Boer. They are the size of a sheep. |

Oooh, have to try this! Haven't found anyone selling goat here, but we can get lamb or grass-fed beef and using gum-free greek yogurt makes it even better. Thanks for the recipe GCG, I love biryani. |
