A friend who is also on the BTD diet said she just boiled them for a bit and they were soft enough to eat.
Do you have to soak them over night or use a slow cooker?

You'll want to soak them overnight, rinse, and bring to a boil with enough water to cover completely plus a bit more. Boil for 5 - 10 minutes, turn down the heat and simmer until tender. Remove from heat
salt, and let stand 30 minutes to give the salt time to penetrate the beans for proper seasoning. Yummy
