Hi! I've been drinking Yerba Mate every day for a long time and love it! However, today I just noticed some small prints on the package that it should be served at 150 degrees F. I usually pour some room temperature water to the leaves and then pour hot water (near boiling point) to it. I like the hotness and the taste at this high temperature, but the suggested temperature is like lukewarm water. I tried it today and didn't like how it tasted/felt. Can some Mate experts here tell me if I still can get any benefits from the tea if I drink it the "hot way"?

I've always heard it can be drunk at any temperature.

150 is the temp required for steaping properly (or boiling water) you can drink it any way you like, including iced. i prefure it has the base for my morning cup of raw coacoa.

Is there yerba santa in yerb mate? If not, what is the correlation between the  two & is yerba santa good for general allergies or just respiratory problems?

I read somewhere that if it's steeped with boiling water, the sensitive antioxidants and whatever else is in it gets destroyed by the high heat. Not sure about this though... makes some sense. Just something I saw.
