Don't know if this recipe is already in the recipe section. I tried this shoyu chicken recipe,adjusted. I liked it. Plus it is super easy to make which is why I like it even more!
Chicken thighs (not drumsticks)
1/2 cup shoyu (I used wheatfree tamari)
1/3 cup brown sugar (I used honey)
2 pieces star anise
1/2inch ginger (don't use too much. I just sliced it and dropped it in the pot)
1/8 teaspoon "5-spice" (I don't know if this spice is BTD compliant. I also don't know if this ingredient is important for the chicken to come out tasting right. But I used it anyway.)
Mix all ingredients, bring to a boil, then simmer 45 minutes. Check that the flavor is strong enough; if not,add more shoyu, brown sugar.
