OK, so someone here pointed me to my new favorite site: http://www.myspicesage.comWhile perusing their site, I stumbled upon a Falafel Mix. I thought "wow, falafels, haven't had those in a while", and then proceeded to go through my SWAMI and lo and behold I think I can produce some fairly genuine falafels. I'm going to change up the recipe a bit. These are the ingredients, with diamonds, superfoods, and neutrals noted from my SWAMI: 1 cup dried cannellini beans (sf) and fava beans (sf◊) 1/2 large onion (sf◊), roughly chopped 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley (sf◊) 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh cilantro (sf◊) 1 teaspoon salt 4 cloves of garlic (sf) 1 teaspoon cumin (neutral) 4-6 tablespoons barley flour (sf) Apricot Kernel Oil for frying (sf◊) Wow, only one neutral. I had to omit hot pepper and baking powder, but those will not be missed. I'll also make the classic tahini sauce for dipping: Tahini (sf), lemon juice (sf◊), minced garlic (sf), olive oil (sf◊), water, salt But, no pita bread, even though it is a neutral. I want to stay off wheat (been about 2 weeks now), so no pita bread. Some basmati rice and some sliced cucumbers from the garden sound real good as an accompaniment. It'll be a little heavy on the fat, due to the frying, but I'll try not to use too much oil. I'll probably make hamburger-shaped patties, and then break them up, dip them in tahini sauce, and eat them up. To all you Warriors out there, doesn't this sound like the greatest thing ever? |

I have a friend going to school in Carbondale. If you keep posting all your delicious meals, I might just take a tiny little road trip and show up at your door with an empty plate. Enjoy your meal! Sounds really good. |

Hey there Marjorie, I'm good thanks! Been tres, crazy busy with my consulting work and setting up new business and studying Reflexology as well - very tired and thus the late night (at least here in the UK) scouring of the boards. Hey, can't wait to hear how your Swami turns out. I had my secrector test re-done and I came out a secretor this time. The adjustments on Swami are really working for me now and my energy is returning and I've lost another 5 pounds (from old Swami base weight) not that I needed too, but it feels much better. Need to be careful not to head down the Hunter burn out path. Congrats on your graduation!! Right, post-hijack mischief managed. Sorry everyone . Andy |

Andy - not to re-hijack here (sorry) - but what secretor test did you use before that you got a false result? I really want to get the Lewis bloodtype test to be sure myself. |

Nope. Just soaked overnight. Then ground into a chunky paste and fried in a pan. The frying cooks them enough for me. If you use cooked beans, then they tend to fall apart, but not always. And, also, with them uncooked, I'm getting more of their 'raw' properties, so it is a win-win. And, thanks for the welcome back, Lola. |

And, I meant to come back here and say...I wasn't able to do this last night, as I have to soak the dry beans. However, I have plans to soak them Friday night, and then fry these up on Saturday for lunch. Can't wait! Will let you all know on Monday how it turned out. |

I wound up making some "pancakes" last night as something that could be whipped up fast.
Not a 'traditional' treatment by any stretch but it worked pretty well.
1 can great northern beans (drained and rinsed), coarsely mashed with a fork Dashes of ginger, cumin, cayenne, parsley 1 spoonful tahini 1 egg 'a little' olive oil 'a little' rice flour after it was all mixed to give it some body.
Heat pan on medium-low grease with ghee and fry like a panacake, flipping when bubbles form and the bottom is lightly browned. Let cool a bit and enjoy. |

You boil or steam the sweet potato, mash it up, add spices, flour and parsley(chopped). , garlic and make into balls and either bake on the oven or fry them..yumm |

These turned out really great. However, the only way to get them authentic, was to heat a small pan with about couple inches of oil. I chose canola for the oil. I ate on these all weekend, kept making batch after batch of these things. Couldn't help putting a little Louisiana hot sauce on these. Shame on me, haha. Next time, I'm going to use fava beans and soybeans, and see how those turn out. |
