Make a lot of squeezed lemon, lime ginger root, and added stevia and commercial ginger ale. So I bought some club soda and will give this a whirl as I've loaded up on lemon, limes and ginger root. Was interested in anyone else's recipes? Thanks, Joe |

I like to use Seltzer water as it has less salt than club soda does. I don't so bloated and tight. I mix seltzer with cranberry, pineapple, black cherry, lemon/lime, ginger, cayenne, whatever happens to be handy at the time. And...no sugar (of any kind) needed for this nonnie. Debra |

I woudln't use commercial ginger ale. I've yet to find one without either corn syrup or aspartame. |

The recipe link Lola posted is from our very own Peppermint Twist, and it's my second-favorite drink next to rooibos tea. My favorite is chilled Gerolsteiner, elderberry concentrate, and Knudsen's Just Blueberry juice. Tart-sweet, fizzy and refreshing. Every cell in my body says 'ahhhhhh' when I drink it. Also good with pomegranate or black cherry with a hit of lime or lemon juice. Experiment and see what you like. Btw, you can make your own nice peppery ginger ale: to chilled Gerolsteiner or seltzer water add fresh grated ginger, a tiny pinch of cayenne pepper, and agave syrup or sweetener of choice to taste. A bit of lemon or lime juice is very nice here too. I've also used a little vanilla in place of the cayenne for a more mellow, Vernor's-like taste. |

I once picked up Jalapeno Lemonade at Whole Foods. Not exactly on-topic, but it is if you add Seltzer. |

Aaaaw, thank you, twinnie.

Interesting ingredients there, Brig! If I made it, I would leave out the cayenne and probably the vanilla, although I think the vanilla would be good...I'd probably go with the ginger, agave, lime juice...that's it. The cayenne sounds very interesting, though and like it would make for a complex, robust gingerale! |

Stevia has a lot of flavors that go well in selzer water if you can have it. The root beer is especially good for anyone who loves the taste of A&W rootbeer. It isn't exactly like the soda, but it is darn tasty and better for you. |

I've been drinking my homemade iced green tea with mint leaves. I've been thinking of adding it to seltzer, but I keep forgetting to buy the seltzer water.
When I first started BTD, my favorite was cherry juice and seltzer -- a double beneficial drink!
And Debra's absolutely right -- no sugar is wanted or necessary. |

Oh, and I wonder if you add white wine to seltzer, whether the wine's acidity would be neutralized by the soda. If so, it might be neutral for Os. You end up with sparkling wine or something like champaign. |

I have no idea where the recipe is right now (we moved two years ago -- yes, two years, and have yet to unpack many boxed up books), but it seems to me I have a recipe for natural ginger ale. It does call for a plain carbonated something-or-other (nothing with corn syrup), fresh sliced ginger root, and agave nectar or honey. |

Can someone make a Pom-Cran- Cherry- Rosehip soda and tell me what it tastes like? The only mix near me is Pappy's Sassafras concentrate. How about Virgin Mimosas? |

And, come to think of it, I would marry tea if one could legally do that! |

Chocolate soda:
In the bottom of a large glass, mix cocoa powder with hot water. Stir in molasses (or any sweetener of your choice. Molasses is my choice.) Add ice and seltzer. |

Pineapple juice and seltzer makes a really refreshing light drink. If you can make fresh-squeezed pineapple juice, you'll get the benefit of the bromelain too. (Sometimes I blend up fresh pineapple and add it pulp and all to the seltzer.) I sometimes have this as a mid-morning drink especially in the summer. It's a nice substitute for orange juice. It also mixes well with pomegranate and berry juices. |

Interesting! If I did that, I'd use agave nectar for the sweetener. I'm trying to decide if a dash of lemon would be just the ticket to brighten it up, or if it would be gross. It'd be one of the two, fer shuuur. |

Only two ways to find out! You give it a try and see if it tastes good or not (the first way to find out.) Then you post about your experience for the rest of us to learn from (the 2nd way to find out. ) |

Is water carbonated by a "soda stream" machine the same as seltzer? (I hope so as my hunter has been having freshly pressed pineapple, lemon & ginger juice with half "soda water" and loving it, so am I as it got him off his addiction to cola) |

Very cool! My only concern is that sugar is an avoid for me, and I don't want to waste a whole bunch of agave (expensive!) on a recipe that isn't "tried and true." I may experiment with this, using regular sugar, and feed it to my kids, and then play around with making an agave version for myself. Or maybe try using sugar for "stage one" and then agave in "stage 2." Or stick with beet kvass for my probiotics and water, iced tea, and seltzer as beverages. |
