Man, I’m really into my muesli! This morning, I’m ingesting a homemade, organic blueberry-oat-pumpkin-seed muesli that is DA BOMB! All it is, is oats, fresh blueberries, roasted (NOT raw!!!) pumpkin seeds, raw agave nectar, dash of organic lime juice, and a nice dash of sea salt (yes, sea salt—this is important). SO GOOD!!! I usually make it with bananas and a generous amount of cinnamon, as I’ve reported before, but today I just wanted the blueberries and no cinnamon, either. This is SO GOOD! It almost tastes like one of those baked oat bar recipes, yet so much healthier and more fiber, as it is not cooked. This has a ton of fiber in it.
The pumpkin seeds provide protein, yet I realize that this meal is somewhat low in protein for me, so I will make up for it at dinner, trust me. Dinner will also be grain-free, since this meal has the oats and I try to have just one grain-containing meal per day, although that may not be something most folks reading this need to concern themselves with, as I’m an O, a nonnie AND a Gatherer, so enough said there. I seem to do best on a low-grain diet. Not a no-grain diet, but a low-grain diet. On a no-grain diet, I THRIVE for a while, then start craving. But on a low-grain diet, I get just enough “comfort grains” to soothe the savage beast and keep me on an even keel! (Edited to add: it has to be the right, compliant grains, though, NOT the wrong grains for me, as those will trigger me to go crazy, diet-wise, which is not good...so I stick to my brown basmati rice, basically, the occasional oat muesli as I'm describing here, and rarely I will have quinoa.) Not sure if I would even start to get cravings now if I went no-grain again, as I’m now on the GTD and really strong on my diet, etc., BUT I feel no need to try to go no-grain because, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, ya know? And right now, my diet ain’t broke (although the weight loss could be moving a tad faster, but I’m thrilled to report I’m FINALLY losing, little by little, again, so there ya go—slow and steady wins the race!).
I was planning to break up a blueberry-almond Unibar into tiny pieces and mix it into my blueberry muesli, and use fewer pumpkin seeds as a result of adding that protein, BUT I forgot to defrost a bar last night, so no Unibar. I’ve used them before and they are good in this. This simple way I made it today, though, with just oats, blueberries, agave, lime, pumpkin seeds and sea salt is FANTABULOUS!
Ever noticed how the simple things in life are the best?

mmmhhh
Cocoa ?
IS cocoa a grain?
Is cocoa pure a sweet?
What is the food value for health?
What is the medicinal value for mental health and cravings?
Cocoa in muelsi? or quinoa..
Right now breakfast is a tea spoon of cocoa powder in hot water at 7 am and then a while later one scoop of proteinpwder in water, along with my sups. I am trying to go for a long walk as that will help to ge the pounds off?? I am also doing the iodine routine- a little on my arm - just in case my thyroid needs a boost.
Later for lunch its 3 oz of meat and a mountain of veggies..I steam some small sclices of rutabego on top of stir/steam/fry onions or whatever green is on hand, add the meat with some cajun spice, a little ginger and I am good to go.
I left my quinoa at home otherwise I would try to make it into some kind of toffee type pudding maybe add on egg or some sweets like blueberries or mango, and just let it cook for a long time to absorb all the flavors..and have a brick for dinner desert..
I am afraid to make it for breakfast, still afraid of those grain carbs or I would have it for breakfast. Maybe with on egg added I could make it into breakfast without triggering my nuddddddgy cravings that never end.
As it is I am looking for a choc bar after sis tells me that I ought to eat like her or at least not like what I do.. or that this or that .. whatever,, her trip but mine to deal with.. so making quinoa like make believe farina or the consistency of polenta chunks might be a way to go for the afternoon snack.. glad you reminded me..
Now I need to walk to the store to see if on this island they have quinoa? Its lovely out and the moon is nearly back to normal size this morning. Curious to see what will happen day after tomorrow.. science is interesting, even bejond ER4YSwami.
Oh I made a new slogan.. ER 4 YT/ ER 4 YGenes/ ER 4 YSwami... What is a Swami--? a teacher, a solitary walk, or the best support for me- myself- and I-! How poetic.. all because of some muesli! (are you swiss by chance? )

This depends on your type. There are many good things in the cocoa bean, as with any seeds... We just have to be concerned that there are not things that will hurt us and that we need the good things contained in the seeds.
What is the medicinal value for mental health and cravings?
Again, this will be an individual need / benefit. At this point, it shows up as Neutral on my SWAMI, so I'm not sure there is a medicinal benefit for me.

I add no sugar -sort of drink it like black coffee of old.. one or two cups a day..
it seems never to be on avoid for me so that is a plus..

Yum, Twisty! You are definitely thinking "outside the box" . The whole thing sounds devine (though I'll omit the agave as I'm not "doing" sweeteners at the moment).
