Dr. D has put in a significant effort to improve the Recipe Database functionality, including adding almost all of the features that had been previously requested by various members. See the Snazzy New Recipe Database thread.
Now it is our turn to put in an effort to improve the data in the Recipe Database.
Here are the tasks that we need help with:
Edit A Recipe: Edit existing recipes to review and revise them to take advantage of all the new features.
This will require that you read the BTD Recipe Database Editing Guidelines for the details about how to do this. This task will probably require you to be comfortable with computer skills as well as having some BTD knowledge, such as various types of milk, flour, sweeteners, etc. that might be substituted.
There were about 708 old recipes in the database and after only about 10 days or so we only have about 388 recipes let to edit. However, any new recipes that are added will probably require editing too. The Recipe Database Team of Dr. D, Rodney, Drea, Lola, and myself (Don) have gotten us this far.
The existing Recipe Database Team has done a lot of work sorting out the editing features, processes and standards and now we are ready for some help editing using what we have established. We could use a few more members to help with this task.
Add A Recipe: Add new recipes, such as all the recipes that are in various threads and blogs here on the BTD Forums as well as your own personal favorites.
To find recipes to add you will have to scan blogs and threads for recipes and then when you find one check to see if it has already been entered in the Recipe Database. If not, add the recipe.
I think just about anyone can add a recipe in its simplest form, since they will all be reviewed and edited, if necessary.
25 new recipes have been added by various members, Dr. D, Amato, Anonymous, Drea (including some of Robin's recipes), Girly, Karen, md, Stormy, myself (Don). We could use a few members to help with the task of searching for recipes to add. Hopefully, everyone will add their own personal favorites.
Proof-Readers: We can always use some proof-readers to catch anything that the Editors miss.
Anyone that can read the BTD Recipe Database Editing Guidelines and look at some of the recipes we have revised to understand the standards that we have set and are trying to follow and has a keen eye for detail could help out here.
Help File: Help work on putting together a comprehensive BTD Recipe and Cooking help document that will be made available from the new Recipe Database pages Help tab. No special computer skills required here, but cooking knowledge and experience probably is.
This task is just getting started and Robin (Brighid45) is going to start a thread on this and Organicmomma has offered to help with it. Please join in and help with this if you have something to offer.
Would you be willing to help with any of the above tasks? "Many hands make for light work". Besides working on the recipes will give you a chance to find some good recipes or ideas you can use. Time for a few others to jump in and join the team!

Any help from my cyber friends to make this a better recipe database is greatly appreciated ...
If you decide to help, then join us on either the Recipe Database Team Q&A thread for working on or reviewing the recipes or the recipe help thread, which will be started soon.
PM me if you want to help with this task, but can't get to the Guidelines or the Recipe Database Team Q&A thread linked above.

I would be interested Don. I tried the link for the database team Q and A and it just took me back to the forum home page. I also tried adding some recipes...but no discernable way to save your work. next time i will type them first in a word processing program so i at least will have them to cut and paste later.

Don, I'd be willing to help. Just let me know what you need done.
hi Pat, you should start by reading the guidelines I'll be glad to help you get started just post your questions and someone will help you out. It's a lot of fun and a good learning experience too.
But all the links you have posted here either just go back to the main board or they say there is a systems admin error or something.
Yes, unfortunately the forum software upgrade messed up all the thread links in posts. I have fixed many of the links in various posts as I find them, but there are still many that need to be fixed.
I fixed all the broken links in this thread.

Hi there, I did attempt to add a recipe in the base 4 section under add a recipe. Dont know what happened but when I typed it out, there was no add recipe button. So if anyone would like a great recipe for sweet potato salad just message me.
Are you still looking for people to scan through old threads and blogs for recipes to add to the database? I'd be willing to give that a go, if so.....
With reference to violet's problem above, I don't know what browser she was using, but I don't get the add recipe button at the bottom of the page if I use Mozilla, which is my normal browser. I have to go in via Internet Explorer before it appears.

Yes! The more, the merrier! I believe we just need an admin to set you up...

I use the latest version of Mozilla Firefox and don't have any problems with it and the recipe database programs.

hmm, mine is not the latest version, so maybe that's why. Can't be bothered to upgrade it when it's working for everything else, never know, I might wind up worse off! I'll stick with using IE to add recipes.

I've never had trouble with an upgrade of Firefox, either in Windows or Linux!

thanks for wanting to help!
I believe the recipe edit team has done the work...... what you can do to help, is give us a heads up whenever you find a recipe which needs editing. either post the link to the recipe, or write down the full name of the recipe, for easy access. thanks again!

right, and give us a heads up when submitted, for the members of the team to edit whatever is necessary.
