I've posted a few recipes and I think it would be great if it had a preview before you submit it, that way you could quickly check for errors and also see how many if any avoids come up and make suggestions for a substitution.
I have some ideas on maybe how to do this. Working on it. |

It actually looks like brown sugar, bakes like brown sugar, but is 100% dates. It is expensive but who cares when you can't have sugar...maybe Dr.D could possibly add it to the data base???? Would be a great thing for us non-secretors (sorry O's)
I think minimally processed pure date sugar would be the same BTD value as dates.
Date sugar - It is more a food than a sweetener. An unprocessed sugar made from dehydrated dates that are ground into small bits to be used as a sweetener. Date sugar is high in fiber, and has a long list of vitamins and minerals, including iron. It is light tan in color. Tends to clump as is naturally hygroscopic, but will break up. Its use is limited by price and the fact it does not dissolve when added to liquids.
Using date sugar - Substitute one cup date sugar for each cup granulated sugar or brown sugar.

Dr. D has continued to add new features to the Recipe Database. Notice the new 'recipes' button at the top of the BTD Forums page. Check out the various recipe listings. They now show the recipe average star rating and the number of votes. Check out the new recipe Search results listing. The recipes are now listed with blood type ratings. Dr. D used his D'Adamo Diet Equalizer (DDE) program high-quality data tables to extract some valuable information to display on the recipes. For example, look at the footnotes below all the Analysis tables on this recipe: No-Knead BreadThe following is a list of all the current possible footnotes: - This recipe uses ingredients that contain gluten.

- This recipe uses ingredients with a high glycemic index.

- This recipe uses ingredients which may contain PCBs.

- This recipe uses ingredients with a good omega 3 to omega 6 fatty acid ratio.

- This recipe uses ingredients rich in lignans.

- This recipe uses ingredients which may help limit bacterial overgrowth.

- This recipe uses ingredients which may have a high mold count.

- This recipe uses ingredients rich in glucosinolates.

- This recipe uses ingredients which may be high in pesticides.

All of the significant number of previously uncategorized recipes have now been categorized by the review and edit team, so they will be easier to find in the future. We are now working on recipes that have been incorrectly categorized or that need to be re-categorized to one of the new categories. On the Add a Recipe page the Typebase Ingredient Link selection process has been improved to make it easier to find the items you want to select.
Quoted from Add A Recipe - TypeBase Ingredient Links
Scroll down to the TypeBase Ingredient Links menu such that you can see the A-Z links below it.
To find the ingredient in the TypeBase Ingredient Links menu select the A-Z link for the first letter of the Typebase entry name for the ingredient you wish to select. This will take you to that letter section of the menu. You may have to scroll the menu down to find the selection.
More to come! |

Dr. D has added some more new features to the Recipe Database. The previous recipe footnotes I posted about are food item specific. Now Dr. D has added some additional footnotes that are based on analyzing all the recipe ingredients: - This recipe is low in common allergens.

- This recipe is gluten free.

- This is a low lectin recipe.

- This recipe uses ecologically friendly ingredients.

You asked for it, you got it! Dr. D added a recipe preview capability to the Add a Recipe process! See the new Preview button at the bottom of the Add A Recipe page. Now you can preview and go back and make changes as many times as you want to before you save the recipe. If after all the editing you decide that the recipe just isn't going to be any good, then don't save it. That means you can use the Add A Recipe and Preview pages to develop new recipes by taking advantage of the wonderful Ingredients Analysis tables that Dr. D added to the Recipe Database feature set. |

Thanks Don I will have to go check it out. Wouldn't it be nice to have a search in the food type base instead of having to scroll through the lists? |

I just increased the ability to cross match blood type compatible recipes from 2 blood types to 2 to 4 blood types.
At the same time I improved the resulting listing page so that it matches the other listing pages, including the search feature at the top, the tab format, and vote star rating next to each recipe. |

I've been spending far too much time browsing and adding to this database. It's just so well thought out and well-presented - I love it! I agree that it would be good to have a place for suggestions for each recipe though, for if improvements have been found. Maybe it could have a tracking system to show who posted each comment, to help prevent abuse of the system: a subform, a bit like a very basic blog, but only showing date, name and comment? |
| Note to self: I am me, and also an O-nonnie - I'm allowed not to fit the mould. |

You asked for it you got it. I added the capability to print either a complete or abbreviated printer friendly version of the recipes in the database. I even took some of the extra space out of the complete version so some recipes may fit on fewer pages. Here are examples of a complete and abbreviated printer friendly version of this recipe. The next step is to add the code to break up the BTD Variations and Substitutions Analysis tables into the various product sections and add the ingredient and recipe footnotes at the bottom of the complete version. |
