My current fave: walnut oil, lime juice, freshly grated ginger root, freshly pressed garlic, wf tamari. I make a batch and keep in the fridge. That way the flavors can meld over time. Also, walnut oil doesn't get solid when cold.

You know what is SO good? Dark-toasted sesame oil, baby. VERY flavorful, in a complex, nutty sorta wondrous way. Try that instead of the olive oil sometimes.
You can also use creative things like pesto, pureed fruits, etc., in salad dressings.

I use maple syrup and walnut oil with sea salt. Great over greens with green apple, cranberries, walnuts and a bit of goat cheese. Mmmmmm!!!!

How interesting and creative! That sounds delicous! ...Too bad I'm not allowed to have maple syrup...or apple...or goat cheese. *boo HOO!* But it sounds wonderful. Wowie.
edited to add: I think I know the answer, but I'm curious: do you use dried or fresh cranberries? Dried would be DA BOMB in the salad you describe, I'm thinking. Ummmmmmmm. Lucky A's!

These are great ideas to make freshly prepared dressings, which is always best. For a store bought option, Annie's Naturals offers a Lemon & Chive Dressing (Vinegar Free). It is canola oil based with water, lemon juice, garlic, sea salt, shallots, mustard flour, black pepper (?), chives, and xanthum gum.

unfortunately, xantham gum and black pepper are avoids...for As, anyway.

But you can use olive oil, ghee, or something like walnut oil or whatever oil you like. You can add garlic and other spices, too, such as organic "poultry seasoning" (turns out I LOVE this stuff added to just about anything--it is mainly sage...A's and sage click well, right?*), curry powder, or whatever.
Nutritional yeast flakes rock my world.
* edited to add: just checked, sage is neutral for A's.

Thanks for clarifying xanthum gum, Drea. I wasn't sure about that one. Peppermint Twist: your dressings are awesome. Fresh is obviously the way to go. What time is dinner today???????
6 oz yogurt (recipe calls for plain low fat but I use vanilla)
2 tsp fresh grated ginger
2 TB fresh lemon or lime juice
1 pack stevia (my own addition, gives it a sweet kick)
Makes enough for two servings.
I pour it over a cold salad made with raw snap or snow peas, red onion, celery and some cold chicken. Almost like eating dessert. I may try adding some grapes next time as well.
olive/walnutoil 50:50%...lemon or citron & loads of onions & fresh or dried garlic (depends how much work I've to accompleet, more with humans or more with papers ..........fresh herbs like cilantro or parsil & chives, some dried ginger (in powderform).....a bit of fresh or dried coriandre...sooo yummy ....
p.s. sometimes I use 50:50% also lemonjuice & balsamico ...sluurp.......

Mitchie: Have you ever tried Organic WholeSoy Yogurt? I have found their brand to be the best (vegan, gluten-casein-free) with a wonderful texture and taste. Not sure if your brand contains dairy.

Hey Milton - Haven't tried it but I'll give it shot. I was looking at some organic lemon flavored the other day also. I bet strawberry flavored would be good with some fresh spinach and chicken and maybe a couple chunks of watermelon thrown in to celebrate summer.

no, to your nutritional yeast question full spectrum of "B" vitamins, lots of protein, minerals the good yeast found in nutritional yeast will fight the bad candida yeast.

1 egg yolk (pasteuriced, no salmonella!) pinch of salt ½ tsp. of lemon juice or (white) vinegar pinch of (white) pepper 1-1½ dl oil
Mix the egg yolk with all the ingredients except the oil untill it is smooth. mix in the oila small amount a time (1 tsp) and mix it with high speed whipping. Use a machine for this if you a out of shape or not a french cook.
The magic in this recipe is to use an egg yolk and oil with roomtemperature, otherwise it ruins everything. And it does take some practice to get it right with the whipping process, but so does almost everything else in life. Add a vey small amount in the beginning and when the texture gets "mayo-like" you can begin pouring in a fine small squirt. Pratice and you become a master.

I have a Vita Mix blender I was hoping to use--have you used a blender to make mayo?
Also, what is a dl, is that 1 cup? Which kind of oil have you used? --I have cold pressed canola...I miss mayo!
I make my own mayo...and I've tried using the blender, the hand wand, and the food processor. Each time, though, I end up using a good old whisk. It's good on the arms, too!

I believe dl is a cup, yes.
I copied the recipe from someone s post, can t remember who it was.
I use a hand mixer......for oil I find olive oil here......you can use any compliant oil you want.
have you checked recibase here? lots of helpful recipes.....

mayo recipe with lemon juice, egg, oil and dry mustard. just follow the basic recipe I posted and add a tsp of ground mustard.... that s it!
