I'm not the first to say it, and I may be the last O to try it, but I have never tried beef jerky in my life, until last night DH made the most heavenly batch! of course I'm a former vegetarian! And DH is a very good cook....mmmmm. And WF butcher sliced it for him! |

How did your husband make it? I don't even know what jerky is? I imagine it as leathery strips of dried meat! |

the trick is, to marinate the very thin slices of meat....or having a jerky gun, where you can add minced meat with compliant spices, and dehydrate the strips.
there are a few recipes, look for them in recibase. Don s the 'jerky expert' here!! lol good luck! |

Yes...is it not wonderful stuff. When eye of round (it is quite a lean cut of meat) goes on sale I buy a couple of roasts and thinly slice it also. Then I marinate it in black cherry juice along with whatever spices I feel like putting in it. Garlic is a must. It doesn't take very long to make either once you have it in the dehydrator. Yummilicious. Lean ground hamburg turns out quite nice also...along with chicken (I had some breasts and marinated strips and dried them) and turkey. Have yet to try lamb or fish. Just haven't taken the time. Debra |

I don't have a dehydrater. I did have one, never used it so my DLH threw it out - the very week my daughter decided she wanted one! Such is life. |
