Does your blood type diet suggest that you wean from the bean? Coffee is an avoid for blood types O, AB, and B Secretors.  Do you live in fear of giving up your morning joe?

No it isn't, Ann Quasarano.

And: Even though coffee is not an Avoid for us B Secretors, I have found that your recommendation of cutting one's coffee consumption in half, as a First Step, can bode failure, perhaps for most who seek to switch to green tea. The claim that switching, over only one week's time, from a longstanding habit of a cup of coffee to a half-cup, is done "without headaches or other withdrawal symptoms" for all or even most people is, I think, naïve.

I've several times posted that the gradual switch of Coffee to Black Tea, ounce for ounce, as one's morning beverage can be successful, as it maintains the higher caffeine level: This is what prevents headache/ energy problems along the way. Only then, one can gradually replace the black tea with green, supplementing with an extra (afternoon) cup of green tea to maintain energy.  The switch from black tea to green is far, far, less dramatic than the proposed Coffee-to-GreenTea change, IMO, for most, even if there are exceptions.

I'm curious as to your source for the Avoid status of coffee for B secretors.

I gave up coffee AGAIN for about the third time in my life about three weeks ago when I did my spring cleanse/detox.  I felt sick enough during the detox that I don't know if it was the coffee or heavy metals, but I can honestly say that I still miss coffee every day . . .

I am proud of myself, however, as some days I have no caffeine whatsoever.  I have taken to drinking lemon and honey in hot water in the morning.

Hi, I am experiencing some knee issues, and have been a long time abuser of coffee.  Could there be a connection, and if so what is it exactly?

I guess how difficult the process would be differs from person to person. For me, a Type O, who has had a 20-year habit of drinking many cups of coffee a day, I cut it off cold turkey in 2009. Overnight, I stopped drinking it because I found out that it was a contributor to my then fibroid condition. I was determined to cut out everything that would make my condition worse. So along with coffee I also cut many things cold turkey, such as wheat and sugar. I had major headache and other detox symptoms for about a weak. After that I felt alright. Since then, I have had only 1 small cup of espresso and don't crave it anymore.

Happy to hear you found a cure.  It would be nice to know exactly what harm to my joints coffee is causing if any.

I've been stepping down with a homemade herbal coffee (carob + chicory). Right now I'm at one cup of Joe. Very happy!

Evenkeel,

You may want to start a new message with your question, since this is an older post.  You'll probably have a better chance of getting your question answered if you post your question on a fresh new thread.

Last time I had coffee was 1999!Last century I too gave it up 'cold-turkey'along with black tea due to intense palpitations exacerbated by stress. Fortunately I was also fond of green tea and herbal teas so giving up my usual beverages wasn't too difficult. The alternative of not being able to sleep was enough to motivate me. I still enjoy the wonderful aroma throughout the house as my A husband brews his morning cuppa
